The Woman From Hell

There was a huge shift in Theo's expression when Neil was brought up. I could clearly see his Adam's apple bob slightly as he swallowed. He seemed nervous.

I did not ask any more questions and just waited for Theo to answer.

A moment passed before Theo slowly answered me, "Maybe. He's been keeping you company the entire time when you were at Susan's apartment."

"So, you're jealous?" I asked him with a tilt of my head.

Theo nodded slowly. "Yes. My wife was alone with a stranger. Of course, I'm jealous."

Despite his saying so, he was behaving completely differently than how one would if they were jealous.

He probably had his reasons for keeping the truth from me, but I believed Theo would tell me about it one day. Thus, I did not press him with more questions. Instead, I just smiled and said, "We can't just keep all our friends at the door after getting married. Come now, I wouldn't be jealous if you had friends of the opposite sex."

"Is that so?" Theo asked me back with a smile.

"Of course. That's because I trust you," I replied to him without an ounce of hesitation,

Hearing this, a smile broke out on Theo's handsome face. "Madam is really a sensible person and a good wife."

"Enough. Cease your praise. I'm going to go shower."

"Go ahead. I'll wait for you in bed."

His words were heavy with implication. I eyed him, my face flushing. Picking up my clothes, I hurriedly ran into the bathroom. We had a romantic night.

The next day, after dealing with company matters, I invited Shannon out and got her to bring Nina along for a meal.

In the private room of a restaurant...

"Congratulations, Nina. Your relationship with Jason has bore fruit."

"Cheers."

After drinking one glass, I looked at Nina. "If Caroline hadn't brought me the wedding invitation last night, I wouldn't even have known that you're getting married."Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

Nina lowered her head shyly. "You haven't been to the company recently. I even gave out candy."

"I testify to this. I kept some for you but forgot to give them to you," Shannon said as she rubbed her head with embarrassment.

"You knew but you didn't even tell me. As punishment, you'll drink one glass."

I poured Shannon another glass. She lifted it and turned to Nina. "Let's go to the bar after we're done. We'll throw Nina an unforgettable bachelorette party."

"Again, Miss Collins? Don't you think you've been going too often recently?"

"Please, I've got a valid reason this time. You can't do whatever you want anymore once you get married. So, of course, she should enjoy her freedom now." Shannon winked and grabbed Nina's hand. "Isn't that right, Nina?"

How could Nina refuse her? She immediately agreed. "Alright then."

"Good. Let's eat first. We'll go once we're done eating, but let's make an agreement first. No getting drunk."

"Okay."

After dinner, we went to the bar.

Shannon was dancing happily on the

dance floor in front when Nina suddenly held up a glass to me, "Wanda, must dedicate this glass to you. Thank you. Without you, I'd still be in the mountains now and wouldn't be here. Thank you so much for introducing me to Jason."

Tears were welling up in her eyes.

That time was probably the last

thing she wanted to recall. I patted her on the shoulder. "It's nothing. It's all over now. The past isn't

important. What matters is the future. No one will know about what happened in the mountains. You can live your life with peace of mind."

"Yeah. Jason might not dislike me, but I dare not tell his mother about it. I'm afraid she won't be able to bear it. But I'm also worried about myself..." Niina rubbed her belly.

I understood what she was worried about. "Don't worry, you and Jason will definitely have children of your own."

"The doctor said I might have trouble conceiving at my last check-up. Since I went through an abortion before this, it'll be more difficult for me to conceive now. I'm really worried." Nina lowered her head sullenly. "Don't worry. You'll be fine as long as you take care of your health. We'll help you."
