“Did you know her mom ?” Allison asked while Olivia nodded quickly hoping to get a positive answer.

“She’s my daughter !!”

“What ??”

“When? How?” Allison bumped her with questions. The shocking expression on Emerson’s face was beyond words. Olivia was shocked.

“How did this happen ?. Was their mom cheating on their dad ?” She thought. Questions were in everyone’s mind.

“Will you say something mom” Mason who happened to fight back his tears couldn’t hold it but let it down after he yelled at his mom. Daphne was shocked beyond words in light of the fact she lost the train of her thoughts.

“What’s the meaning of what she’s saying ?” Daphne mumbled.

” I mean. Guess it’s a private matter” she rolled her eyes. They all waited for Daphne and the kid’s to come closer.

“Ariel” Olivia called with her arms wide open for embrace but she was rejected.

“Seriously” she frowned.

“I miss you” Ariel pouted and entangled herself in Olivia’s arms. Everyone walked inside Emerson’s apartment but they were directed to his well furnished living room.

“Explain the meaning of the “daughter” you said earlier.” Daphne asked with a serious expression on her face.

“Why are you all mean ?” Mrs Ellison laughed.

“Wait, don’t tell me Hudson is in love with her” she chuckled.

“I’m in love with her mom,” Mason uttered bravely.

“I’m in love with Daphne,” Emerson added..

“Hahaha, Ahhh., You guys are fighting over her already,” Mrs Ellison laughed wholeheartedly.

“Stop this laughing mom” Allison yelled.

“Okay. Let’s be serious” she uttered with a serious face.

“It was a plan”

“What’s a plan ?” Emerson rushed to ask.

“Daphne coming to the clan” she uttered.

“You are kidding” Daphne rose up instantly.

“I don’t joke with things like this. I understand the hardship you might have to go through in order to get balanced here, but trust me. It was a wish I had to follow” she heaved a deep sigh.

“What wish mom ?” Mason asked impatiently.

“Daphne mom’s wish”

“You knew me right from the beach right?” Daphne asked with a serious expression.

“I didn’t know you before, but I recognized you the moment I set my eyes on your bracelet. Actually, Daphne’s late mom (Danielle), Emerson’s late mom (Rosario) and I were three best friends. Lawson was a young famous billionaire in our college back then.

Everyone was curious and jealous of his girlfriend, mostly especially girls. Unfortunately, Rosario was his girlfriend since day one but no one knew about it.

“So where is this leading to?” Allison interrupted.

“Will you let me finish ?” She asked with her teeth grasped against each other.

“Unfortunately, I happened to find out about their relationship when I told Danielle about it. She wasn’t happy that Rosario was keeping things from us. She apologized and Danielle forgave her. I was still pissed about the whole thing but Danielle has a soft heart and soul. The two were hanging out together, almost every time. They neglected me.

“They can’t just neglect you like that” Daphne curiously.

“I choose to ignore them. But it wasn’t my fault, Rosario made it clear that Lawson was her’s alone and I got jealous. I stayed away from—

“You ruined the friendship because of jealousy, Mom,” Allison interrupted with a furious face. She wasn’t the person angry at Mrs Ellison. Mason, Olivia, Daphne, Hudson, Allison were burning furiously.

“I know I’m faulty in that aspect. But there’s still more” she said with a sober voice.

“It’s pointless trying to fake anything” Emerson uttered with his teeth grasped against each other.

“Can you continue ?” Daphne asked politely despite feeling furious.

“I stayed away from them and Rosario don’t give a f*ck about me and that’s because Danielle and Rosario have been friends since childhood. Not so soon I heard about Rosario’s pregnancy. I felt somehow so I went back to Danielle and Rosario.

Danielle was the first to accept my apology but Rosario wasn’t ready to forgive me. Danielle was trying her best to get Rosario to forgive me but it wasn’t working out, not when she went into labor around eight months of pregnancy, I was with Danielle who wasn’t feeling too well.

Rosario’s screams made me rush down to the living room, I saw her groaning in pain. Despite being in pain she didn’t want me to touch her. That was when I realized she was very angry at me. I have to call Lawson who was in a business meeting that afternoon. And I have to get Danielle down the stairs despite how unhealthy she was.

We got her to the hospital before Lawson got there.” She paused and wiped her tears.

“What’s wrong mom ?” Allison asked worriedly.

“Rosario made me vow not to touch her child before she died except Danielle… I was in so much pain… That’s how I grew hatred towards Emerson.” Years later everyone departed. No one has contact with each other.

“It’s a family issue. I know it might be personal” Trinity replied.

“But why is Daphne’s Mrs Ellison’s daughter ?” Lucas asked worriedly.

“I’m confused from that statement alone,” Serenity added and took a seat.

“Could she be illegitimate ?” Serenity thought but shoved it off.

“Should Jocelyn be here” Trinity scoffed, not after rolling her eyes.

“She’s not needed here” Serenity hissed and walked feet away from the two.

Years later, I met Danielle in a restaurant. She was heavily pregnant. Words were left hanging in our throat when we met. From there I got to know the process and things Rosario and Danielle made after giving birth to Emerson. She paused but Daphne took the opportunity to ask the question that was in her mind.

“What process ?”

“Betrothed. You are betrothed to each other. I know you are wondering why it was not Olivia since she was the first. Yes! “Yes. So, in order to get them together I had to plan with Laura, Daphne’s step mom. Who happened to be a bitch that loves money. Nothing else but money” Mrs Ellison uttered with hatred.

“How did you end up with my dad then ?” Emerson asked calmly.

“We were drugged and we had a night stand. It wasn’t my will to marry him, I had no choice but to marry him when I found out he was a consigliere to a Mafia boss. My life and my baby’s life wasn’t safe back then, so I had no choice but to get married to him. I wasn’t happy with the marriage but it’s better now.” She stopped talking and ran her hand through her hair.

“What about my step mom ?” Daphne asked with a worried face.

“She’s handling things. As far I’m paying her, she’s perfectly fine” Mrs Ellison replied with a wink.

“Oh! Okay” she hummed and nodded. Daphne stood and walked out of the room in silence.

Before she could think of getting to the main door, a hand pulled her back and shut her up with a kiss before she could think of screaming.

“Don’t move,” Mason said into the kiss. Meanwhile, Emerson was burning furiously as he stared at the two.

“Get the hell away from her” Emerson screamed and walked fiercely towards them.
