Chapter 1384
"No, I just want to snuggle up!"
"Okay, I'll take a shower!" Trevor ruffled her hair before making his way to the bathroom.
Then, Victoria's stomach grumbled slightly as though something was tugging on it, spasming like a side stitch, rendering her to arch her slouching body to the side instinctively, feeling more comfortable after rubbing her navel.
A while later, her cramp alleviated, but before she could even straighten her body, Trevor dashed to the wardrobe aside with his hair still dripping wet.
Seeing that, she reflexively sat up. "Hubby, are you going out?"
However, the moment she moved, a wave of energy shot up her spine from the bottom of her feet, and the spasms began again, making her gasp. The pain was still agonizing despite rubbing her belly and adjusting her breathing. Just when she wanted to express her discomfort, Trevor beat her to it. "Selena seems to be in danger. I'm going to take a look..."
But as Victoria took one sharp breath, the pain suddenly intensified, rendering her feel sicker. "Hubby, I don't feel so good!"
Please don't go...
Still, before she could finish her words, Trevor sat down only to hook the back of her head and plant a deep kiss on her forehead.
"Not now, okay? Nina won't call me unless it's serious. Selena's missing; she seemed to have been kidnapped. I'll be back ASAP!"
Trevor pinched her cheek gently, all affectionate, but his tone was assertive, leaving no room for negotiation. Her words were already hanging in her mouth, but seeing his gaze and attitude, she swallowed them back in after much hesitation. In the end, all she could do was watch him get up and head out the door. As the sound of dashing footsteps down the stairs traveled to her ears, disappointment filled her eyes.
"I'm not fighting for affection. I really don't feel good..." she mumbled.
But apart from sighing, she could only quirk her lips in mockery.
He would still leave even if she said it out! After all, disappearance and kidnapping were direr than a stomachache. Though she understood what was more pressing, because the person in question was Selena, because of the complicated relationship between the three of them, she still wasn't too happy about it right then.
She then sat hugging her legs for a while before letting out a big sigh. Following that, she got out of bed, poured herself some hot water, and popped another pill in before returning to bed.
Could her stomach problem come from not paying attention to her diet and being stressed out lately? Or had she had too much salsa the other day? Why wouldn't she recover?
With that in mind, she knew she couldn't rely on drugs anymore; she had to go to a doctor the next day. She hadn't a clue how long it had been, at least long enough for the cold air to take over the lingering presence of humans, but there was still no activity on the other side of the door. Having no urge to sleep coupled with an aching stomach, Victoria swept her gaze across the room before calling out.
"Grisly, come here..."
With a beckon, the chubby white cat jumped onto the bed. As Victoria cuddled and petted Grisly, her body warmed up gradually, feeling much better instantly.
"It's all your fault; you're nothing but trouble! Why won't I be surprised if you're doing this on purpose? Though it's inhuman and terrible of me to think so..."
They were cousins anyhow, so it was only right that he did so; she shouldn't have said anything. But she loathed that woman down to her bones. What was more, her body wasn't at its best right then, so she was naturally upset. With that, she poked its furry head, then habitually stroked its back.
"But I won't think so if you haven't been such a hateful human being. Honestly, is he the only man on Earth? Must you risk such a disgraceful, scandalous danger? Just because you're shameless doesn't mean you can not give a d*mn about people who have a family to feed! Stubborn, selfish, wicked! Do you not even realize how stressful it'd be if you two end up together; all for what? You can't even give him a child, not 'wouldn't' or 'incapable' but 'forbidden', okay?"
"You sick, sick woman! You're not just sick physically but mentally as well, aren't you?"
"I can honestly accept you if you're not so rotten, if you're sensible. Won't it be nice if everybody lives in harmony?"
After ranting to herself, Victoria couldn't help sighing wistfully.
Every family sure has a skeleton in the closet. She didn't have Ally's complicated in- law relationships to face nor worry about the common superciliousness of the wealthy. However, she did have this cousin and ex-first love problem; what endless trouble.
Worse, she couldn't be forceful!
Earlier, for instance, if she insisted or acted unreasonably, their relationship and marriage would be damaged no matter what it came to, wouldn't it?
Sometimes, it was inevitable to be aggrieved!
After all, anybody would be helpless at least once in their life, no?
Victoria waited for a while longer with Grisly in her arms, eventually coming around after venting her frustration.
"Don't be angry. If I get upset even over something this trivial, I'd eventually be the death of me! Nothing's more important than me! Am I right, Grisly?"
Coming back to reality, she patted the cat's butt before stretching. "Alright, back to your bed. Time for me to sleep!"
Her drowsiness came as she felt more at peace. As she yawned, she noticed the cat remained motionless in her lap, leading her to urge again.
"Go, Grisly! Do you think you're the king of the world just because I haven't yelled at you for a couple of days? Don't make me lock you up in your cage! No treats for you!"
"Shoo, go to bed, sleep... No meowing. Don't you dare dirty the room!"
Victoria poked Grisly as she scolded it. Either the chubby cat actually understood her, or it was just pure coincidence; it went lazily back to the balcony after a few urges and pushes, even meowing a couple of times as though answering her.
"Meow... Meow..."
After getting used to its new home, Grisly basically wouldn't run around, chew everything, or urinate
everywhere, very much well-behaved and a bit of a neat freak as well. What was more, the servants would tidy up, clean the litter box, and bathe it routinely, so Victoria loved raising the cat, especially wonderful when she put it next to her or in front to admire or keep herself warm whenever Trevor wasn't around.noveldrama
"I swear, a cat is even more attentive than you! Do I have a husband or not?"
She quirked her lips at that and pulled the comforter as she laid down. "Time to sleep... Goodnight, Grisly!"
"As if I'm going to wait for you to come back! Who wants to do that?!" she mused.
Either exhausted or she had popped a pill, Victoria fell dead asleep not too long after, only stirring when the sun was already up.
As she sat up, she noticed Trevor hadn't been back the entire night.
Feeling something jammed in her heart, she flipped through her phone for quite some time before putting it back down. "You could've at least sent me a text. As if I care what you two do or if you're okay. Hrnph...'
It was one thing to take it personally and another to be reasonable; since he was affluent and left to rescue that woman, she harrumphed but thought nothing more of it, heading out the door after getting ready. As she still wasn't feeling well, she drove to the hospital after checking in with her staff.
What do you think?
