Chapter 1380
Victoria had a bad feeling about the whole situation. Her eyebrows furrowed as she stared at her design drafts.
Whoever did this, was it done intentionally or not?
If they had just opened and flipped through the drafts, the sequence wouldn't have been messed up! Who had the guts to fiddle with the documents on Trevor's desk? Were they looking for something? Why did they tamper with her documents, then? Who were they after, him or her?
Who could have done it?
Victoria's head ached as she tried to figure out the situation.
She held her drafts tightly as she stood rigidly in front of Trevor's desk. When Trevor returned to the office, he noticed her expression. It seemed as if her soul had left her body.
"You're awake."
He stepped forward and casually put down the notebook he was holding. As he strolled over to her side, he couldn't help but notice the girlish folder in her arms.
"You don't have to clench it so tightly! It's not going anywhere!"
Not everyone had the freedom she had in his office. Besides, every single document on his desk was more valuable than her design drafts.
Trevor had a strange urge to laugh at her baby-like posture.
He didn't realize how his simple joke had made Victoria even more uneasy and tensed.
As soon as Trevor sat down, Victoria rested one of her hands on his shoulder as she inquired, "Hubby, tell me the truth, did you peep on my designs?"
Trevor turned to look at her with a sneer on his face.
"Why would I need to do that? Aren't they just cats on clothes? Your cockiness has glued them to my mind. Nevertheless, they were well-designed too, of course. That's why I still remember them..."
"Hubby, you really didn't touch my drafts?" If it wasn't Trevor, the rearranged sequence must not have been an accident.
"Why would I have to do that? I'm not interested in squeezing bills and receipts into your folder!" With a smile, Trevor grabbed his notebook and sorted out some key points from the meeting earlier. However, a thought seemed to occur to him as he moved his gaze away from the notebook, "However, sweetheart, you'll need to correct that scribbling habit of yours!"
Only Victoria had the authority to use his card wherever she wanted to.
Trevor lowered his head and was consumed by his work yet again. Victoria rolled her eyes at the statement as she was speechless.
In spite of that, she wasn't in the mood to argue with him.
After some silence, Trevor sensed that something was amiss. He put down his pen and asked, "What's the matter? Is something wrong?"
Although she followed him to work every day, she had always shied away from his working area. Even if she needed something from him, she would quickly leave after finishing her task. She'd mind her own business and wouldn't bother him while he worked. He knew that she tried to avoid his working area as much as she possibly could.
However, something was wrong. He couldn't explain it, but she was different that day.
Victoria couldn't tell him about the drafts without solid proof. She giggled and after a brief thought, she reached out her hand.
"Can you lend me five minutes? I've something to ask you."
Upon seeing her jolly expression, Trevor put down his pen and pulled on her tiny hands, "I'll lend you ten minutes! Go ahead."
Something was going on!
No wonder she was daydreaming just now!
"Hubby, erm...how did you handle that?" Victoria gestured at the documents on his desk before pointing at her eyes.
"My eyes are still sore! Don't tell me you decided to just let it slip! I've already suffered the consequences of "noveldrama
It took her everything to smother his fires of rage! She had wasted her whole afternoon! "Hehe..."
Trevor knew the incident was on her mind. He was in a great mood as he raised his hand and tapped her little pouted mouth, "I've transferred her and lowered her salary. Now she's part of the company's cleaning team!"
"Huh? What? Why didn't you just fire her?"
Even though dismissing her from the job was a somewhat serious punishment, Victoria didn't want someone like Dakota hanging around the company. What if she lost her mind and came into his office naked?
Trevor tapped on her head with a smile on his face.
"Dummy! Her contract hasn't expired yet. If I dismiss her now, I'd have to pay her compensation! She's not worth it. The cleaning team needed a supervisor, so I let her help!"
He doesn't want to pay compensation, especially to someone like Dakota. He wanted her to quit herself! He was kind enough as he did not spread her photos.
Kicking her upstairs. What a cunning move!
Trevor's words had lightened up Victoria's mood. She understood his intentions.
She didn't ask anymore. She had faith in him, she knew he'd deal with the incident appropriately. Victoria tilted her head while looking at Trevor.
"Hubby," she lowered her voice, "What would I do without you?"
He was so sensitive about the whole situation, but if a woman came in, could he hold his ground? With
her gaze fixed on him, Victoria couldn't resist pouting. Her gaze was so strong, it was as if she was trying to pry his eyeballs out.
Trevor pulled her into his embrace as he poked her hard on the head.
"You're one to talk! Don't you know that men are different from women? Do you know how many men commit crimes out of impulse when they're emotionally unstable? How dare you show me those photos!"
Judging from the way he gnashed
his teeth and held her hands, Victoria instantly understood what he meant She couldn't stop herself from giggling before resting her hands on his neck. She gave him a peck on the cheek as a way of
showing her gratitude.
"I was wrong, and I won't do it again! Then, would my beloved husband keep up his good work?"
Although Victoria had posed a question, her tone was full of confidence for him.
She believed him this time! That was
odd. It was normal for men to act on impulse. In spite of that, there were numerous ways to solve the problem, Perhaps that was what differentiated sophisticated men from criminals. Sophisticated men were responsible and had no problem controlling themselves. They would never act ruthlessly without thinking thrice. However, they each had their own ways of dealing with their temptations and impulsiveness.
"God is so unfair. I don't even know when my husband started working. Now I'm still sore all over!"
It seemed to be a casual talk at first, but Victoria was slowly presenting the main purpose of initiating the conversation.
"Hubby, when did you leave? You
should've woken me up! I was sleeping for so long, I didn't even notice anything! It was so
โวเ
embarrassing! Did someone come over earlier? While I was sleeping? I think I saw a woman wearing a gray coat in your office just now, but I'm not sure. Maybe I was so tired I had hallucinated-"
If she knew who had come over, she'd know who had tampered with her drafts. Besides, what if that person came back and meddled with Trevor's documents? She didn't want to take the blame! Prevention will forever be better than cure.
Something odd happened, so she had to be prepared for it. It was best if she really did hallucinate the woman in his office, but she had to prepare for the worst too.
What do you think?
