Chapter 1379
Glancing at the dead flowers and ravaged plants, Trevor suddenly understood her abnormal behaviors. He tapped the desk with his fingers while gritting his teeth.
"How'd you like the drama?"
Trevor raised his hand as he gestured for Victoria to come over.
Victoria moved her little hands away and shook her head. She was so joyous that she burst out laughing while holding onto her tummy.
Trevor's expression fell as his face darkened. Again, he motioned for Victoria to come over. Victoria finally walked toward him, even though her giggling had yet to cease.
Trevor pulled her over and encircled her, "Is this your masterpiece? Do you have any idea what you're doing?"
They were in the company. It was barely noon. How could she show him such...such horrendous photos? Trevor tried hard to suppress all the emotions surging inside of him. He was seconds away from screaming bloody murder, but she was still beaming like it was some harmless joke!
"Hubby, you're accusing me - of the wrong thing... Oh..."
Victoria turned her head to hide her grin. At the same time, she caught his cold expression from the
corner of her eyes, so she didn't dare to laugh out loud like before. Victoria's body trembled as she tried to repress her laughter. However, her cheerful eyes still gave away her emotions.
"Hubby. I just...Well, I want my husband to avenge me! Here's some tip for your work."
Victoria picked up the stack of bills with his name whilst she explained. The sight of it made Victoria's grin even wider.
"This gift was sent by a secretary from the finance department. What was her name again? Dakota, I think. It had nothing to do with me. She said these were extremely important documents that my husband had to inspect personally! Hehe~ Hubby, your employees are considerate, aren't they? Even with so much workload, they still take care of your little hobbies—"
Victoria pulled and played with his collars as she continued, "I think you should 'praise' this exceptional employee, don't you agree? She's so outstanding that even looking at her made my eyes sore!" Victoria rubbed her eyes exaggeratedly as she spoke. She didn't know that her last sentence had saved her from a furious Trevor.
"So you knew it was there, and you did nothing about it?"
Wasn't she fearful at all? He could've been seduced by these photos! Was she really his wife? How could she just sit back and watch while he uncovered such disgusting things? Or perhaps she just didn't care at all?
Victoria eventually suppressed her smile. No matter how dumb she was, judging by Trevor's tone and voice, she could tell that there was something wrong.
"Of course, I could've hidden it, destroyed it behind your back, or simply reported the incident to you," she continued, "But seeing is believing. If you hadn't seen this, would you have believed it? These tactics, this courage, it's out of this world. If I hid them this time, what would happen if a similar incident were to take place in the future? What would happen if I weren't there when they occur again?"
He wasn't seduced...was he?
Victoria yanked at his clothes with a serious and firm look, "Hubby, my eyes really are sore, you know! Look! I'm not lying! It hurts, help me blow on it—"
There was a meaning hidden inside her seemingly silly remark. "I care," she was telling him, "I'm not okay with this. I'm hurting the most!"
Trevor gently pinched her chin as his rigid face softened, "I see. I'll blow it for you!"
Trevor lowered his head. The next second, his lips pressed on hers while his big warm hands pushed onto the back of her head.
Subsequently, he lifted her from the chair and carried her to the resting area.
A secretary stood by the door with some documents. Just as she was about to open the door, a loud door slam could be heard. She stood frozen in place for a moment. A second later, she caught some noises coming from the office. It sent chills up her spine.
The secretary shrugged and covered her ears as she turned away. She'd probably have to return a while later. Mr. Clements seemed occupied at the moment.
A blurred figure floated in front of her as colorful lights struck her eyes. Victoria was weary and dizzy, yet a thought still lingered in her mind.
He was so tired just now.
Where did he gather the strength and energy to torment her?
Men were animals. They wouldn't let fatigue get in their way when it came to this, would they?
Victoria whined.
She hadn't even made it past half the day yet!
She regretted laughing at him. She just took the liberty once!noveldrama
Karma sure worked fast-
In the end, Victoria passed out in bed, weary and famished.
She was pretty confused when she opened her eyes again. She only knew she was starving because her stomach kept rumbling so loudly. After taking in her surroundings, the memories came rolling back to her.
She climbed up from bed and her gaze fell. She tapped her forehead when she realized it was already half-past three!
She was going to faint due to hunger!
Where was Trevor?
As she moved, the blanket slipped off her. She noticed a faint fragrance in the air. Victoria hurriedly pulled the blanket back in place as the cool air assaulted her skin.
What an animal! How could he strip her in there? What if someone had barged in?
She was so dead!
She was totally dead!
She turned around in a panic. As she was about to grab hold of her messy clothes, she noticed a neat pile
of clothes placed nearby. The clothes were brand new as the price tags were still intact.
At least he wasn't stupid all the way!
The memory of him tearing her clothes suddenly flashed across Victoria's mind. She suddenly flushed as she wondered, "I must've been crazy! Why did I allow that?"
She was there to avoid trouble, not to sleep with him! What if someone found out and spread the news? Her reputation would instantly be burned to ashes! She was so jolly when the employees tried to seduce him, now they were going to joke about her behind her back!
Her mind was a mess and she couldn't think straight. With the clothes in hand, Victoria dashed toward the bathroom. Fortunately, the facilities here were exhaustive!
After taking a shower and tidying the room, Victoria finally walked toward the door. She didn't have the guts to swing the door open too suddenly. Instead, she opened a small gap to take a look at the situation outside. Victoria gingerly pushed the door open only after some close examination. Huh?
Why was it so quiet? Was nobody there?
She took a look around. A gray-and-white shadow appeared in her sight. It was a woman Victoria didn't recognize. The woman's hair was disheveled and she wore a simple but trendy tailor-made blue-gray coat. She was slender and as she raised her hand, Victoria could catch the white lace dress she wore inside.
Victoria paced out swiftly. Even though she didn't catch the woman's whole face, her guts told her that the woman wasn't an employee. Judging from her back and side profile, the woman was pretty and elegant too. She subconsciously took a couple more steps forward as a faint yet familiar fragrance caught her attention.
What smell was that?
It smelled like...the tulip perfume she often used!
Victoria rubbed her nose as she was a bit uncertain about it. Before she had the chance to smell again, the fragrance was gone.
Who was that woman?
She wasn't one of the company's employees. How did she manage to get in there?
As Victoria was still a little groggy, she suddenly wasn't sure how many people she saw. She vaguely heard some footsteps, but they were all obscure and puzzling. She couldn't distinguish between them. After standing frozen for a moment, Victoria unwittingly turned back as her gaze fell on Trevor's cold and orderly desk.
Perhaps it was just another woman with a "gift" for her husband?
Victoria returned and stood beside his desk. She wondered if she could find any clues over there. Her hand was just about to reach the folder on the desk when something familiar came into sight. Victoria's mind went blank.
Her drafts.
"Oh, God!" She thought, "How could I have forgotten them!"
She rushed over to retrieve her drafts and flipped them out of habit. Her body went rigid when she noticed the numbers on her pages.
They were arranged in ascending order.
Everyone had their own weird habits.
Every time Victoria created a new design, she would number all of them so she wouldn't lose any. However, for some reason, she didn't like the numbers three and

four, so she had this little habit of reversing the two numbers. Similarly, designers would often habitually add a little something representing themselves to their work That was why every design had its own different style and special features. Sometimes these details were added inside the designs themselves, other times they were added outside of the work. They weren't trying to confuse anyone, of course, but inspirations and creativity, well, they were complicated concepts that couldn't be explained. After spending a fair amount of time in the industry, most designers would have developed their own little habits. They would've had a specific set of details that they add to their designs to protect themselves from plagiarism. Even if it were just their drafts or notes, experts would always be able to tell the real from the fakes.
She had had that habit for years now. If her work was incomplete, the numbers three and four would be reversed when she arranged them. She would only arrange them in order when everything was settled.
But these drafts weren't finished yet, so why were they arranged in ascending order?
Who touched her designs?
Secrecy was the most important thing in creative designs. The point in keeping everything a secret was to wow and surprise the people later. These designs, if someone had seen them, well, things would not end well. If that someone didn't have
any evil intentions or wasn't a
competitor, then perhaps things weren't as bad as it seems. But what
if-
If that had happened, her designs would be ruined!
She was too careless!
Nonetheless, these designs were the result of her hard work, and she was extremely pleased and
satisfied with them. It would be a pity if she gave them up then and there!
They were in Trevor's office, and that was Trevor's desk. Even she didn't dare look at or move anything on
his desk. She had only ever dropped some bills into one of his folders. Who would be allowed in there? Who would have the guts to mess with Trevor Clements' stuff?
What do you think?
