Chapter 514 A Bad Expression
Richie prepared for Axel’s bone marrow transplant scheduled for Thursday. All the reports confirmed Axel’s eligibility for the procedure.
Richie approached Evan. “Mr. Jordan, we can start the surgery immediately. However, Mr. Jordan Jr. must remain in an isolated, sterile room for some time after the operation.”
Evan wore a worried expression and asked, “How long?”
mone
“Minimum one month,” Richie replied.
Evan felt a sudden pang of anxiety. “Can he leave before Mardi Gras?‘
Richie calculated and regretfully answered, “We’ll do our best.”
“Use the best treatments,” Evan instructed. ‘Ensure a speedy recovery.”
ล
“Understood, Mr. Jordan. We’ll give our utmost to save him.”
Daniella arrived at the hospital at 10:00 a.m. and saw doctors wheeling Axel out of the ward,
Axel opened his eyes briefly.
Daniella’s eyes were teary as she approached Axel, gripping his hand tightly. Axel, however, resisted her
touch, looking at her with fear and caution.
Daniella wiped her tears away and reassured Axel, “Don’t be frightened, Axel. We’ll be here, waiting for you. Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
Axel nodded nervously and glanced at Evan. “Daddy, don’t worry. Take care and rest well.”
Evan affectionately ruffled Axel’s hair. “Alright, make sure you recover quickly.”
“I will,” Axel replied with a reassuring smile.
He was determined to recover and see Caroline in good health. He would not let himself be defeated.
Soon, Axel was wheeled into the operating room.
Suddenly, Caroline experienced excruciating chest pain during a meeting at TYC Fashion, She broke into
a cold sweat and clutched her chest.
Concerned, her employees rushed over to Inquire about her condition.
Naomi stayed calm and quickly ushered them away.
Naomi handed Caroline a pill for anxiety with some water, but Caroline pushed it away, gasping. “No, I’m
fine…”
Naomi insisted and forcefully placed the pill in Caroline’s mouth, which startled everyone present.
Caroline looked at Naomi in astonishment.
Expressionless, Naomi explained, “You must take it.” 1
She then gave the remaining pills to Josie, who was standing still. “Hold onto these.”
Josie nodded in a daze. “Alright.”
After a short rest, Caroline felt better and thanked Naomi hoarsely.
“You’re welcome. It’s the least I can do,” Naomi said.
Caroline smiled, adding, “I also appreciate your meeting with the old factory workers.”
Naomi replied, “It’s my responsibility.”
Caroline straightened up, her expression gloomy. “I was fine earlier. It was just a sudden chest pain.”
She sensed that something was amiss.
Naomi noticed Caroline’s tired appearance and advised, “You should rest more. You don’t look well.”
Caroline forced a smile. “Maybe.”
She wanted to rest, but her busy work and Casey’s threats kept her from getting proper rest. Moreover,
Casey hadn’t replied to her messages, leaving her anxious.
Back in her office, Caroline received a call from Paige.
Caroline answered, sounding tired, “Paige.”
Paige was taken aback. “You don’t sound okay, Carol,”
Caroline took a sip of water. “I’m alright. Why are you calling at this hour?”
Paige asked, “Can’t I call you without a reason? Are you free this afternoon? Can you accompany me to the hospital?”
Caroline checked her work schedule, which Josie had sent her. “Sure, what time?”
“Hmm… 1:30 p.m.?” Paige suggested. “Let’s have lunch together before heading there.”
