She wanted to rest, but her busy work and Casey’s threats kept her from getting proper rest. Moreover,

Casey hadn’t replied to her messages, leaving her anxious.

Back in her office, Caroline received a call from Paige.

Caroline answered, sounding tired, “Paige.”

Paige was taken aback. “You don’t sound okay, Carol,”

Caroline took a sip of water. “I’m alright. Why are you calling at this hour?”

Paige asked, “Can’t I call you without a reason? Are you free this afternoon? Can you accompany me to the hospital?”

Caroline checked her work schedule, which Josie had sent her. “Sure, what time?”
