The Unknown God of War

Chapter 267

Chapter 267

Jiaqiang snickered and said confidently, “Of course! After all, your dad has been in the business world for a few decades. I’ll definitely have some connections.”

Despite putting on a brave front, Jiaqiang was secretly worried about his plan. He knew that while Director Zhao could help him achieve his goal, there was a high price to pay for seeking the help of a ruthless man. He was prepared to sacrifice part of the 50 million deal to Director Zhao, as Jiaqiang refused to put his pride aside and beg Muqing to return to the company. Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Ring! Ring!

Jiaqiang thought hopefully as he picked up the call, that must be Director Zhao! He must be calling to inform us that the matter has been resolved.

“Has it been settled, Director Zhao? This is a simple issue for you, I’m sure…”

Before Jiaqiang could finish his sentence, Director Zhao bellowed, “Fuck you! You are a scumbag! You have no idea who you messed with. Why did you drag me in this shithole? Not only did I lose my job, I nearly had to go to jail! You son of a bitch!”

Jiaqiang replied in a puzzled tone, “Director Zhao, how could this happen? Sanyuan is just a nobody, you…”

Director Zhao seethed, “It’s not Sanyuan, but the man backing him that has immense power! One phone call from Mr. Chu is enough to send my superior to jail. Even the almighty Lieutenant Governor of Jiangbei, Tang Taishan would grovel at his feet! You are such a dumbass! I’m warning you, Sanyuan is only a mere puppet. You have better do as he says if you don’t want to get into trouble.”

Without waiting for a reply, Director Zhao ended the call.

Jiaqiang’s face turned as pale as he rationalized inwardly, it seemed like there’s a man backing Sanyuan. I will never have the guts to go against this Mr. Chu if he is as powerful as what Director Zhao describes. It seems like I only have two options now. First, pay up the 80 million compensation, but we don’t have that kind of money. Second, get Muqing to return to the company. However…”

Xiaoyue’s face twisted in disgust as she interrupted begrudgingly, “Are we really going to beg Muqing, Dad? We have to kneel and plead for their forgiveness?”

Rage pulsed through Jiaqiang’s veins as he yelled, “Do you have a better option? Do you want your life or your pride?!”

The answer to Jiaqiang’s question was obvious – there was nothing more important than one’s life. Hence, Xiaoyue had no choice but to swallow her pride and returned to Muqing’s house.

At Muqing’s house, Chu Feng had prepared a scrumptious meal cooked with high quality and nutritious ingredients.

“Everything looks so appetizing! It has been a long time since I ate something so delicious. You have great culinary skills, Feng,” Jiaming praised. He was growing more fond of his future son-in-law.

“It’s just some simple dishes. I can cook for you more often if you like it.” Chu Feng smiled politely and stood up to pour Jiaming some wine.

“That’s great! We are accompanied by such good food today so we must definitely drink to our hearts

content.” Jiaming gave a hearty laugh. He was in high spirits as Chu Feng had managed to spite Jiaqiang’s family earlier today.

Muqing’s eyes glistened with happiness and contentment filled her heart. She seldom saw her dad smiling so brightly, ever since he had an amputation following the car accident.

In contrast, Fenglan scorned and said icily, “You guys are still in the mood to drink and have fun? You have offended Jiaqiang earlier. He is still the president of the company after all. Do you really think he will let this off so easily, Muqing?”

Anger stirred within Fenglan when she thought of how her daughter was going to be fired from her job and lose her stream of income. It’s all that loser Chu Feng’s fault. Ever since his appearance, our family has been so unlucky. It’s obvious that he is the bane of our existence.

Muqing lifted her head and said nonchalantly, “It doesn’t matter if I’m fired. Given my capabilities, I’m confident that I’m able to find another job and support the family. I’ll be able to raise Duo Duo.”

“Why would you need to work when I’m here?” Chu Feng held on to Muqing’s hands and continued in an earnest tone, “Don’t worry, Uncle Jiaqing and Aunt Fenglan. I’ll never let Muqing and Duo Duo suffer any hardships.”
