Elena looked around the table at this familiar scene and felt like crying. She could not believe she gave this up.

If her mother saw how she had become, she would have been hurt.

She wondered how her father dealt with it, seeing his precious daughter degrade herself for a man. After a few rounds of laughter around the table, her brother asked a very important question.

“Have you taken everything, so that you do not have to return there?” he asked and Elena nodded.

“The rest of the things can be exchanged between lawyers. There is no need for me to interact with him again,” Elena answered and recalled that she still had his number stored, so took out her phone and handed it to the butler to remove her sim card.

"Please, take out the sim card. I will have it changed," she said and the butler, Mr Rodwig nodded and took the phone.

"The sim? Just block them," J said.

"His mother and sister are slightly crazy. If I block them, they will just call me with another phone. It is better if they do not have my number," Elena answered and J nodded.

"Since you are back, does this mean you are ready to take back you title as heir?" Jason asked and Elena nodded.

In other families, maybe the son would have been heir, but in theirs, their parents let them decide what they wanted to do.

Her brother, Jason was more interested in his own business and did not want to join the family business.

Before he had finished school, he had started his business and had already grown it quite far.

Elena was the one who was interested in the family business and the one who had put her time growing it.

As she had up and gone to get married, her father was afraid that the Mathews would be greedy for her money, especially when she was behaving as though possessed, loosing all her common sense.

So, he told her that if she decided to marry Donald, she would not only have to step down from her role, she would have to have to hide her family name.

Elena felt lucky that her father had possessed this foresight. Knowing how Cecile only cared about who was richer than her, she could have been exploited in her stupidity.

She was sure her brother, whose business had grown to a fortune 500 company in the past recent years was tired of running her company for her. "Thank you for watching the business for me, Jason," she said.

"You only thank him? What about me? I have had to sit as CEO longer than I should have," Gregor said to his daughter and she chuckled. "Thank you, dad," she said.

“Good, we need to hold a banquet to welcome you back,” Gregor said.

"Yes! It should be big and loud. If possible, we should invite your Ex husband," J said and one could see the mischief dancing in her eyes. "You trouble maker," Elena said.

When it came to cutting off the Mathews from her life like they never existed, her family fully supported this.

Elena took two days to rest before she Could not take it anymore and returned to work.

She had a lot of things to do, familiarizing herself with the stat length company.

Seeing her work this hard, J who had come to see her could only sigh.

"And why again did you give up being an heiress for a man? Just look, you had barely left the house, they are on the news everyday," J said in frustration as she barged into Elena's office.

Elena whose attention was broken by her sudden arrival, glanced at the tablet in J's hand.

It was just more headlines about Donald and Melanie; she had seen a lot like this while married to him.

"Don't think too deeply, she has enemies that refuse to let her go," Elena commented.

Even though she was delighted about the public backlash Donald was facing now that Melanie was under fire, Elena still felt somewhat hurt when she saw them mentioned together.

He used to be her husband, but no one knew this.

He paraded his mistress around and now she had dragged his reputation down with her.

"It is all in the past," Elena replied peaceably, "people cannot be stupid forever, right?"

J liked that she was unfeeling about the entire thing.

She was just her friend and she was completely angered, yet the person involved was quite peaceful.

What could she say about that?

"It's good that you have turned a

new leaf. f I ever see you cry about this man, I will smack you back to your sense," J said and Elena could not help but smile at her words.

“So, have you gotten everything you own from that family?" she asked and Elena nodded.

"My lawyer is setting up a meet to handle the remaining things," Elena said.

She recalled that there was still a bracelet of hers in Donald's hands.

She had spotted the bracelet in the media photos.

It was a bespoke bracelet of immense value not only marily, but emotionally.

Elena was not the only one who had spotted the bracelet. Jane had too.

She stared at the picture and her anger flared again.

"Shameless!" J basically said through her teeth.

Elena felt these words were quite fitting.

Though she had a lot of things in still in Donald possession, this bracelet and the watch she had taken back were sentimental to her.

It was her mother's bracelet. If not for this picture, she would have forgotten it was still in Donald's possession.

How could she possibly let him have it?

Impossible.

The thought of him wearing her mother's bracelet to touch that woman made her feel sick.

This man had no boundaries. She picked up her phone to inform her lawyer to hasten the meet up.

She refused to have her mother's heirloom in his hand any longer.

"Oh? The news is disappearing!" J who had been scrolling on the inte said as she looked through her tablet.

Elena had been engrossed with work when she heard her exclaim and looked up sharply.

"What news?" she asked.

"News on Melanie. It is disappearing in off the trending search," J said.

Elena did not need to think too deeply to guess who was behind it.

Melanie held a large portion of Donald's heart. There was no way he was going to let her suffer when he is still alive.

It was normal for him to make her scandals disappear no matter what it was.novelbin

But Elena knew you could not block out the sun with one hand. This was going to return to hunt him.

"Won't it be interesting when all his

protection comes back to hunt him? I want to see how long he can kide her character from the world" Elena said.

Even if he wanted to be blind the entire world was not blind.

She could not wait for the moment all these comes back to bite.

J thought this made sense. She did not believe Donald could keep this up long.

"If he is going to defend her, we can't let him outdo her enemies so easily," J said, a wicked grin spreading across her face, "It is only right to lend a hand to those in need
