The Billionaire's Mistake (Anya and Daniel)

Chapter 291: Returning Home

Donald sat in the ambulance completely in thought. This entire day drained him. He was not sure what had come over Elena to behave this way. She used to be very agreeable, what happened?

He thought about this all the way to the emergency room. The doctors immediately started handling Melanie's injury while he waited.

As he sat on the hospital bench waiting, he received a text from his sister asking if Elena had been arrested.

Looking at the text, he recalled what Elena had said about Hannah and dialed his secretary's number.

"Vivian, Find out what Hannah is doing abroad at the moment and all she has done in the past few years," he instructed.

"You want to check up on the young miss, sir?" Vivian asked.

“Get a detective to find out what she has been doing, Vivian," he instructed again. This time, slightly agitated.

It was as though Vivian could tell to stop pushing as she immediately answered, "Yes sir, I will put someone one it immediately."

Upon getting her reassurance, Donald ended the call and walked over to the ward Melanie had been set up in.

The moment he walked in, he noticed that she was now awake. But, before he could say a word, she began crying.

"Donald, what did I do wrong to Elena, why did she have to divorce you because of me? I did not mean to..." she started saying.

Donald felt an instant head ache descend on his skull, so he cut her off.

"It is not your fault. She is the one who wanted a divorce on her own, don't think too deeply about it," he answered her while massaging his temple.

"I don't think she is the one who spread those pictures to the media, so both of you should not fight. It will be easily explained and all things will be resolved if both of you sit down and had a conversation," Melanie said.

"Don't worry about things you should not be worried about. She is out there living her life, even when you got hurt, she did not care, so why are you so bothered with her?" Donald said.

"Besides, who else would release those photos except her? Just concentrate on you health," he added. He did not believe that she had nothing to do with the media hunt against Melanie.

"I am Just worried that you will continue fighting because of this," Melanie said. She looked really worried.

Donald knew she was softhearted and kind, but this was a bit much. It was clear Elena had been the one to spread this news to smear her online, but she was still insistent to resolve it peacefully.

Well, he was not her. He was not the kind of person to take these things lying down.

"Since she started this, she should have been ready for me to respond," Donald said and Melanie smiled inwardly.

The more they fought, the more opportunities she had and the more Donald would be able to see how good she is.

She did not think this last stunt of hers would force Elena to leave her marriage. If she knew, she would have pushed harder these past few years. But she was glad. Now that Elena was gone, she could take her rightful place as Donald's wife. There was no one standing in her way anymore. Elena on the other hand, had driven back to her childhood home. When she stepped out of the car and stared at the familiar gate, she felt nervous. She took several steps unto the paved walkway, wondering what would happen if she entered the house. When she got to the door, she hesitated and stood there a while.

She had been a willful child.

When she had announced that she wanted to marry Donald, her father and brother disapproved, but she held her ground.

She who was known for her levelheadedness and wisdom in business had married like a fool. She sometimes wondered what had come over her.

She even thought that she must have been hypnotized to have abandoned her family because of this.

She was scared. She feared that when she walked through that door, they would not forgive her.

She only paused by the door a bit, when a hand wrapped around her shoulder suddenly.novelbin

"What are you doing waiting around? Hurry up and go in already, they have been waiting for a while." this person was J. As though her presence gave her courage, she opened the door and walked in.

on the other side was her father and brother. When her father saw her, he swallowed back teas.

"You are back?" he said stoically and she nodded. He then proceeded to get up and leave but, Elena hurriedly wrapped her hand around him from the back.

"Dad, I am sorry. I should not have been willful back then and left the family," she said and her father, Gregor Grey nodded as tears spilled.

"You little girl, you don't listen. I did not oppose your marriage back then because he was poor. It is because when it comes to marriage, the man should be more in love than the woman. That is the only way you would not suffer a loss. Besides, now your Uncle James is back and has cut ties with the family, people will turn on you," Her father said.

"That man did not like you, but you were determined to marry him. You convinced yourself that he will come to like you," her brother, Jason said. Elena felt that she was really stupid. Of course what they said made sense. It took getting hurt for her to understand that they meant no harm. She did not understand what kind of spell he out her under to make her believe that he would love her and make her try to win his love.

"From now on, I will listen to you, Dad, Jason," she said, releasing her father t turn around and look back at her. "You did something stupid, but you have learned your lesson. What did your mother always say?" her Gregor asked her.

"Since you have learned, move forward without guilt," Elena answered. Gregor nodded and led her to the dining.

"Your brother had a feast prepared," Gregor said and Jason coughed awkwardly and looked away.

“So, you have such an ability, Jason. I thought you were just some lofty stone on a Buddhist temple,” J commented. "You know, no one would blame you if you kept quiet some more,” Jason said.

"I was only giving way for your

"It can't be that Jason actually cooked, right?" she asked, looking around the table. She did not know her brother could use a stove.

"He has been making a few things recently. Don't get deceived, he was never this good before," Gregor said as they all took their seats.

"Really?" Elena asked.

"He used to be terrible, after early destroying a few kitchens, if he could still not mange to cook, he should have rolled into the trashcan," J said. "This is how you appreciate me letting you freeload for a while?" he asked and Elena chuckled. She was home.
