Reborn Before The Divorce

Chapter 214

Jesse, Cade, and Albi were discussing business in a teahouse. Albi was about the same age as Cade, and they had some common topics to talk about.

“Mr. Cannon, it’s not that I don’t want to work with you. I just don’t want to hold you up if I can’t do the job,” Cade was still very polite to Albi.

“If you can’t handle it, how can he?” Albi was a bit skeptical.

“Mr. Cannon, Jesse is young and talented. He has many capable people working for him. He can really handle this project,” Cade said.

Jesse didn’t rush to speak, letting the two of them chat for a while. Cade certainly didn’t want this project to fall into his hands, but he had to put on a show. Albi was someone he knew a little bit about. The more eager he was to show off, the less the other person would like it.

“Mr. Pascall, tell me about your ideas,” Albi asked.

“Mr. Cannon, this is my project proposal. It includes relevant design plans. You can take a quick look while I explain it to you,” Jesse handed over the proposal.

Cade was stunned and his face instantly turned sour. He didn’t expect Jesse to be so well-prepared. Albi was also surprised. He thought Jesse was Cade’s son-in-law and that’s why Cade specifically gave this opportunity to Jesse. But he had heard about Jesse’s dispute with the Malones before, so he quietly observed the two.

He felt that Jesse was very calm.

Most importantly, Jesse was Nydia’s husband, and Nydia was Neil’s daughter. He was interested in getting to know Jesse.

After opening the proposal, he briefly scanned it, but when he saw the design plans, he became interested and started reading it carefully.

Jesse didn’t say anything, waiting for Albi to finish reading.

“Can I meet the designer for this project?” Albi asked.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.

“Of course, if Mr. Cannon doesn’t mind, you can come to the company to take a look,” Jesse replied.

“Okay, I’ll find a time.”

A dark look flashed through Cade’s eyes. He didn’t expect Albi to turn around and visit the company right after expressing his reluctance to work with Jesse.

“Mr. Malone, thank you for giving me this opportunity. Whether I can collaborate with Mr. Cannon depends on fate,” Jesse said to Cade.

No matter how angry Cade was, he could only grin and bear it. “I knew you had this ability. If you have the chance to ride the coattails of Mr. Cannon, you should seize it. Mr. Cannon, the young man may have some shortcomings, so please be understanding.”

“I primarily focus on ability rather than relationships. As long as both sides complete the project successfully, everything else is inconsequential,” Albi said with an ambiguous tone that Cade couldn’t decipher.

However, he became completely alert when he heard the next sentence.

“Hey, seeing you reminds me of Neil. He’s been gone for many years.”

“Yeah, back in the day, we used to drink tea and chat together. He was such a good person. Who would have thought…” Cade even got tears in his eyes, impressing Jesse with his acting skills.

Everyone was fooled by Cade, including Neil himself.

The things Neil left behind didn’t reveal any issues with the Malones, but Jesse still discovered that Cade was involved in Neil’s death during his investigation.

Although Neil clearly died in a car accident, he was falsely labeled as committing suicide out of fear, and many incriminating pieces of evidence were found in his car.

Only someone with a close relationship could have placed the evidence in the car.

“Mr. Pascall, bring your wife over next time for a meal,” Albi said. After all, Nydia was the daughter of his good friend. He wanted to see how she was doing.

When Neil had his accident, he had intended to adopt Nydia, but she went far away, and Cade eventually adopted her when she returned. He later heard that Nydia was doing well and didn’t pay any more attention.

“Okay, I’ll bring her next time.”

Cade thought to himself. If Nydia said something negative about Jesse to Albi when she saw him, Albi’s impression of Jesse would be adversely affected, so he needed to seize this opportunity.

It was getting late, and Albi had other matters to attend to, so he left.
