Reborn Before The Divorce

Chapter 190

“Car accidents are unpredictable. No one knows what will happen, right?” After taking a sip of wine, Barclay continued, “Who knows which will come first, accidents or tomorrow?”

“Right, accidents and tomorrow may come together.”

Cade felt better, thinking that Barclay wasn’t bad. Although the Evans family couldn’t compare to the Pascall family, with Barclay’s hard work and cooperation with the Malone family, they could surpass the Pascall family.

The Pascall family’s advantage was its family background. Even if something happened before, it was still strong. It wasn’t Jesse’s ability alone. Without the Pascall Group, Jesse might not even be able to compete with Barclay.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have advocated for Nydia to marry Jesse and had his daughter withdraw.

The person responsible for monitoring Cade’s situation reported back to Vergil. Jesse knew that Cade had called Barclay to his home, and he knew they were discussing something.

“Boss, do you think Cade will give up the Cannon family’s business?”

“He will,” Jesse replied firmly.

“Will the Cannons agree?”

“As long as we don’t give it to the Malones, they’ll agree.”

Vergil didn’t understand why they were doing this thankless task, but Jesse clearly didn’t want to talk about it.

“By the way, Missus called and asked you to come home for dinner.”

Jesse immediately frowned, but before he could say anything, Vergil interrupted, “I didn’t have time to refuse before she hung up.”

“I’m not favoring your wife, and I’m not close to her. Please don’t be angry or jealous,” Vergil murmured in his mind.

“We still have so much work to do, let’s focus on that,” Jesse replied.

“Do you want me to prepare something for you to eat?” Vergil asked.

“No need,” Jesse declined.

He’s not eating again? Vergil thought to himself. If Missus finds out that Boss didn’t have dinner, Vergil will be in trouble.

Why is he stuck in the middle of this?

Vergil was about to say something, but the cold gaze from Jesse made him shut his mouth.

Fine, he’ll keep quiet. It’s his own body, and as long as he’s happy, it’s okay.

But then Jesse’s phone rang, and it was Nydia calling.

He hesitated for a moment, then decided to put it on silent and not answer.

But then another call came in.

“Hello?” Jesse answered.

“Doesn’t your boss want to go home and have dinner?” Nydia asked.

“Boss still has work to do,” Vergil replied.

“Did you buy food for him?” Nydia inquired.

Vergil was caught off guard.

“Okay, I see,” Nydia said.

“What do you see?” Vergil was confused.

Just as Vergil was wondering what was going on, Nydia called again.

When he answered, he heard Nydia’s voice saying, “Come to the elevator.”

“What?” Vergil asked.

He took his phone and headed towards the elevator, and when he got there, he saw that the elevator was slowly ascending. Soon after, the door opened, and Nydia was inside.

“Missus?”

“Give him this,” Nydia handed him a food box.

After Vergil took it, Nydia closed the elevator door and left.

Did she come here just to bring dinner?

Could it be poisoned?

It’s too obvious if it’s poisoned, Vergil thought to himself. He didn’t think that was likely.

He walked into the office holding the food box.

“Boss, this is dinner that your wife brought for you. Do you want to eat it?” Vergil asked. If you don’t eat it, I can have it.

Jesse frowned, “Where is she?”

“She gave me the food box and left,” Vergil replied.

Jesse opened the food box and saw several exquisite dishes, each in its own container.
