Chapter 14 We’ve Gathered Information on Her.
It was seven o'clock in the evening.
In the GH presidential office stood Sam and Asa.
"Mr. Garrison, we've gathered information on her. Her name is Lacey Carter, Lillianna's twin sister!" Asa
handed the file to Sam.
Sam didn't appear to have much of a reaction. He responded indifferently, continuing to work on the
task at hand.
At this sight, Asa quietly retreated and closed the door.
Sam put down his pen after signing the last page of the contract.
Only then did he pick up the document that Asa had sent.
"Lacey Carter, a 20-year-old who attends Seaside University in Klosa."
" She is the twin of Lillianna Carter. Born to Bailey Carter and his ex-wife, Maria Francis."
"The couple later divorced, and each raised one of their daughters."
"Maria, who had received no compensation for cheating on her husband during their marriage, moved
to Klosa with her lover."
"Lacey was raised with a lack of upbringing. She had done theft, told lies, and was greedy. She had two
abortions in junior high and a private life that was exceptionally chaotic."
"Acting is her usual trick."
"A year ago, Maria was diagnosed with gastric cancer and was dumped by her lover."
"For a long time, the mother and daughter had been in dire straits. It was only because of Lillianna's
help that Maria was later admitted to the hospital."
"Six months ago, Lacey was exposed to be a mistress. As a result, she was forced to sell her house
and relocate with her mother to South City."
Sam frowned as he read the contents.
He then tossed the folder into the trash.
On the other side, Carter's house.
"What?" Lillianna came to Madeleine Brooks as soon as she got home. "Mom, did you just say he was
looking into Lacey?"
"That's right. He must have met Lacey. Otherwise, he wouldn't have investigated her!" Madeleine said
faintly as she sat on the sofa, sipping her coffee.
Lillianna grew anxious at this point. She hastily asked, "He's been to the hospital a lot lately. Meaning,
he must have seen her there! Mom, what then? Will he take an interest in her and find out that she was
the one pretending to be me that night?"
Madeleine put down her coffee and said with a straight face, "How many times have I told you,
Lillianna, that when things go wrong, don't panic! You are the daughter of a wealthy family. You must
maintain your cool at all times!"
"But—" Lillianna trembled with nervous frustration.
"You'll never be as good as her in this aspect!" Madeleine cut her off in the middle of her sentence.
Lillianna knew who she was referring to. She couldn't help but pout and mutter, "I'm just too anxious.
After all, I'm getting engaged to Sam in two days. What if something goes wrong?"
"We've worked so hard to get this far. Hence, how could I possibly allow anything to happen to you?"
Madeleine stroked Lillianna's head. "Don't worry, he won't be able to find out anything. I've had all of
the information ready long ago!"
"Huh?" Lillianna looked up a little puzzled and asked, "Mom, when did you make preparations?"
"I had already predicted her disobedience. There is no way she will stay in Klosa. When a carrot won't
work, it's a stick that's needed. I'll grant her death wish if that's what she wants!"
Madeleine raised a pair of menacing eyes followed by a sneer. Everything was under her control!
"Thanks, mom. You're the best!" Lillianna burrowed into Madeleine's arms.
In fact, Lillianna hated Lacey for a reason.
She didn't like it when others had her face.
She despised that Lacey, who grew up in the poor countryside, had no hillbilly temperament at all.
Instead, she was able to maintain her composure at all times.
Madeleine often mentioned how inferior she was compared to Lacey in this aspect.
"By the way, where is dad?" Lillianna rose and took a glance around. However, Bailey was nowhere to
be found.
"Your father must have gone to the hospital." Madeleine smiled faintly. She picked up her coffee and
took another sip.
"Huh? The hospital? Why didn't you go with him? What if dad saw that woman and got softhearted?"
The woman Lillianna referred to was her mother, Maria, whom she had always resented.
"I believe he is more disgusted with her than you are!" Madeleine grinned and confidently stated.
"Why?" Lillianna was perplexed.
She disliked Maria, for she had been separated from her long ago. She had no feelings for her.
However, Bailey's marriage to Maria had lasted for several years. Therefore, why would he be
disgusted with her?

your dress tomorrow. Time is running out. You'll be engaged in two days. You must be Mrs. Garrison at
your best." Madeleine urged.
"You're the best, mom!" Lillianna kissed her on the cheek before rushing upstairs.
Madeleine chuckled. "Maria, you'll never be able to defeat me!" She muttered, slightly lifting her
brows.
