Chapter 13 Are You Addicted to Beating Me Up?
"I didn't expect you guys to hide in South City!"
As there was no one else in the ward, Lillianna removed her sunglasses.
Maria hurried to lock the door. "Lillianna," she called, her voice trembling as she took two steps closer.
Lillianna shifted her position and faced Maria. Her eyes were cold, and her lips were set in a scowl.
"What is your reason for hiding in South City? Are you afraid of death?"
Immediately, Lacey dashed forward and drew Maria close behind her. "Don't even bother opening your
mouth if you can't speak politely!" She warned Lillianna as she glanced at her sharply.
Lillianna grunted softly and shrugged, seemingly amused by Lacey's protectiveness of her mother.
"Lacey, do you have a bad memory? Did you forget what dad said?"
"Lillianna." Maria's voice stuttered from sobs.
She could never understand why Lillianna was so hostile towards them.
Lillianna ignored Maria's sorrowful expression. She took a mischievous look out the window and said,
"Dad said to get your *ss back to Klosa and stay out of South City. Otherwise—"
Turning back with a grin on her face, she continued, "You'll die a horrible death!"
"Lillianna, please don't tell him we're here. We'll leave right away!" Maria pleaded as she hurried to the
closet and started packing. "Lillianna, I beg you not to tell your father about today. We'll get out of here
as soon as we can!"
She knew Bailey Carter's temper well. No one could change his mind once he got mad.
Lacey walked straight to Maria without saying a word.
At that, Lillianna raised her eyebrows and snickered with satisfaction.
"Why should we leave?" Lacey grabbed Maria's hand and gave Lillianna a stern glare.
Lillianna frowned slightly as this was not what she quite expected. She asked with a sneer, "Is this a
challenge to dad?
"Lillianna, please don't be upset. I promise we will go soon." Maria begged for mercy.
"All right, then!" Lacey locked her gaze on Lillianna. She challenged, slightly raising the corners of her
mouth, "Since he wants me to die a horrific death, do it! I'm curious to see how he plans to do so!"
Their house was sold, and her mother was terminally ill.
How much more tragic could she be?
Since she couldn't run, she figured she might as well face the issue!
After all, she, Lacey Carter, had never been a coward!
Just then, there was a sound of applause, and it was from Lillianna. She exclaimed in a sarcastic tone,
"How bold of you!"
"Lillianna—"
"Shut up!" Lillianna looked at Maria with disdain. "How dare you call me by my name? Aren't you clear
enough about our relationship?"
Upon hearing these words, Maria's eyes filled with anguish. She seemed paralyzed on the spot.
"Mom, it's okay." Lacey put her arm around Maria's shoulders and gently reassured her, "Your name is
for animals, you know?"
Lillianna's expression stiffened. She then took a step closer and swung her hand at Lacey's face
without mercy.
However, before her slap landed, Lacey had already grabbed her wrist. She asked with a sneer,
"What's the matter? Are you addicted to beating me up?"
Lacey had only borrowed money from Bailey three times in the past few years.
The first time was when she was waiting for Bailey at the stairway. Lillianna deliberately fell on top of
her while taking the steps. Lacey was later accused of being the culprit in the incident.
As a result, she was slapped twice by Lillianna that night. All for the sake of getting the 20,000 dollars.
On Lacey's second loan, Lillianna used the same trick, but at the time, it was her stepbrother who was
putting on the show.
The price was also two slaps, and it was Lillianna who did the slapping.
Her mouth bled from the beating that night, and her face was all swelled up.
"I hate it when you own my face!"
Amid violence, Lillianna uttered the most chilling sentence.
Did she attempt to do the same this time?
Lillianna withdrew her hand and sneered, "I see you're all brave now that you got the money." Giggling, NôvelDrama.Org owns © this.
she continued, "Can't you recall how you got the money? If it weren't that you—"
"Lillianna!" Lacey's eyes dulled. She walked over to Lillianna and whispered in her ear, "Are you sure
you want to talk about this here? In other words, do you want to be on the news?"
As if in awe, Lillianna looked at her in astonishment.
"Are you threatening me?"
"I'm just warning you to leave a way out for others. What's more, she's your mother!" Lacey's tone grew
increasingly cold.
Lillianna glared at her with a vicious look. Then, a fierce glint crossed her eyes.
"Just wait until you see what dad does to you!"
