Lost and Found: Return of My Mysterious Fiancee

Chapter 786: Was She Really Reckless?

Tina nodded, though she wasn't afraid of Luke Gill.

However, now that she worked for the government, she had to restrain herself. Certain methods were no longer permissible.

The thought alone made her feel sick.

Looking back, she must have been out of her mind when she agreed to build a team for the government. Now, everything she did had to be weighed against her current identity. It wasn't like the old days.

If not for her official status, Luke Gill and people like Victor would have met a much worse fate.

Jared, ever perceptive, noticed what she was thinking. He gently tapped her nose with his finger.

"It's not like before," he said softly. "There are too many unknown dangers now. You can't afford to act recklessly."

Tina blinked.

"Reckless?" she repeated, her voice tinged with confusion.

"Me?"

"Have I been reckless?"

"No, probably not."

Still, she had indeed toned herself down. Until she figured out who the big boss behind the scenes was and what they wanted, she needed to keep some cards hidden.

As she furrowed her brows in thought, she recalled something Ella Bailey had told her a few days ago. Suddenly, an idea struck her. She leaned closer to Jared, her red lips brushing against his ear, whispering softly. The warmth of her breath grazed his skin, turning the tip of his ear a faint shade of red.

Jared's arms tightened slightly around her waist. His large hands began to roam, unable to remain still. His dark eyes filled with a dangerous intensity, his Adam's apple bobbing as his throat went dry. He wanted to kiss her.

The thought came suddenly, but once it surfaced, it was impossible to suppress.novelbin

It had been days since they'd had any time to themselves. Between dealing with Elsa's matters and sleepless nights, there had been no room for intimacy.

His slender fingers brushed against Tina's face. She frowned slightly, unable to resist the tingling sensation. Before he could go further, her hand stopped him mid-action. Her alluring eyes sparkled mischievously.

"Uncle, are you even listening to me?" she teased.

When she was with Jared, her tone carried a playful, coquettish quality. To him, it was the most irresistible temptation in the world.

Jared's thin lips curved into a slight smirk. He grasped her chin gently.

"I am," he murmured. "I remember everything you said. But right now, I have something else to take care of."

His deep, husky voice carried an edge of seduction that sent heat rushing to Tina's cheeks. She tightened her grip on his hand as his touch grew bolder.

Tina let out a soft gasp, her defenses crumbling.

At that moment, if she was still thinking about anything else, it would have been a waste.

With a sudden, fluid motion, Tina widened her eyes, turned the tables, and pushed Jared down beneath her. She kicked off her shoes, straddling him with elegance and ease.

Her hands pressed against his chest. Her flirtatious gaze, brimming with sensual confidence, locked onto his.

Leaning in slightly, she let her fingers trail teasingly over the buttons of his shirt.

"Uncle," she whispered seductively. "How about today, you let me take the lead? Hmm?"

Her delicate hands began to wander downward, slow and deliberate.

Jared's dark eyes burned with desire. He didn't hesitate to agree.

When it came to certain things, his little woman always had a few more tricks up her sleeve than he did.

He clasped his large hands firmly around her waist, leaving faint red marks on her skin.

Above them, the chandelier swayed violently, scattering fragmented light across the room. Tina's body glistened with sweat, and when she finally ran out of strength, Jared carried her back to the bedroom.

It wasn't until the first light of dawn broke through the window that they finally stopped.

The two of them slept until noon, only waking when the incessant ringing of Logan's phone calls finally forced them out of bed.

By the time they arrived at the designated meeting spot, Luke Gill and the others had been waiting for quite some time.

Ella Bailey, outwardly annoyed but secretly amused, complained, "Do you two have no sense of time? Why are you only arriving now?!"

Tina, arm linked with Jared's, took a seat next to Logan. Her cold, sharp gaze swept across the table, landing directly on Luke Gill.

Their eyes met, and a silent alarm went off in Luke's mind.

On one hand, he still felt the humiliation of being kicked last time. On the other, he couldn't ignore the fear Jared inspired in him. The conflicting emotions intertwined, making it impossible for him to muster even a shred of goodwill. Even so, he maintained his persona, lightly touching Ella Bailey's hand.

"Ella, don't talk like that," he said with a faint smile. "We're all family here. Waiting a little longer isn't a big deal."

Logan glanced at him briefly, his thoughts unreadable, but he surprisingly agreed.

"He's right. We're all family. Ella, didn't you say you had something to ask Jared and Tina for help with? Now that they're here, just say it."

Tina raised an eyebrow, her expression mocking.

"So, you're asking for help? I could've sworn, from her attitude earlier, that she was gearing up to pick a fight with me."

Jared remained silent, his arm draped casually over Tina's shoulder. When he heard her words, he even gave a subtle nod, clearly in agreement.

Ella Bailey froze, her face betraying a mix of resentment and frustration.

Beside her, Luke Gill maintained his indifferent demeanor, the faint smile plastered on his face like it had been welded there.

Tina caught the way he glared briefly at Ella before shooting her a look. Ella's expression shifted, and she cast a quick, subtle glare back at Luke before turning her gaze toward Tina.

Suppressing her humiliation, Ella forced a gentle tone that clashed with the bitterness in her eyes.

"Yes, we do have something to ask," she admitted. "We heard that Tina is helping Elsa sue Luke. We were hoping you could persuade her to drop the case."

"Lawsuit? What lawsuit?" Logan asked innocently, though he already knew the answer.

Jared glanced at him with a mix of amusement and exasperation. The old man wasn't fooling anyone.

A seasoned internet user for decades, Logan's act of feigned ignorance was almost convincing. If Jared hadn't already told him the full story yesterday, he might have been duped.

Luke Gill's eyes glinted briefly.

"Grandfather, this is how it is," he began, his tone earnest. "This matter is between Mrs. Dyer and me. I had no involvement in what her father did back then. But because I didn't go to prison, Mrs. Dyer bears a grudge against me. Honestly, I never expected this."

He looked genuinely distressed.

"And I certainly never thought Tina would believe Mrs. Dyer and help her reopen the case."

Tina lowered her gaze, her voice icy.

"With someone like you in our family, it's hard not to imagine what might happen someday. If, by chance, the Farrell family were to fall apart because of you, it wouldn't be much of a surprise, would it?"

Luke's expression darkened.

"I've said it before-the events of that year had nothing to do with me!"

"Then why are you begging for forgiveness?" Jared interjected coldly.

Luke's eyes flickered. He straightened his posture, his expression full of sincerity as he turned to Logan.

Ella Bailey, catching his signal, rolled her eyes internally before moving to sit beside Logan.

Channeling her best impression of Kelly, she began to sob softly.

"This is all my fault..."
