Chapter 249 Don't Disturb Her

Harper's silence lingered as Benjamin continued his work, the rhythmic tapping of keys punctuating the quiet of the night. Around eleven o'clock, exhaustion claimed Harper, and she drifted off to sleep while the TV murmured softly in the background.

Once his work was completed, Benjamin briefly washed up in the bathroom before approaching the bed. His gaze softened as he looked upon the sleeping woman he held dear. With a brief hesitation, he pulled back the covers and carefully lifted her into his arms, settling beside her.

"Don't disturb her."

Annie's voice was hushed as she inquired, "Harper hasn't woken up yet?"

"Yes."

"You can wake her up now, or she'll end up with a headache from sleeping too much," Annie gently reminded, but Benjamin remained resolute in his decision not to heed her advice. The atmosphere grew heavy with tension.

Despite Benjamin's reluctance to allow them entry, Larry and Annie showed no signs of leaving.

A standoff ensued, lasting several seconds until Harper's voice broke the silence from within the ward. "Is Annie outside?"

Annie swiftly responded, "Harper, it's me."

"Why don't you come in?"

"I just got here. I thought you were still sleeping." Annie replied smoothly.
