I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 131

Chapter 131 He's So Childish

Harper's expression remained stoic, her tone notably subdued as she remarked, "Some things, once they've happened, can't be undone."

"Are you thinking of leaving too?"

"Yeah, it has crossed my mind."

Harper didn't hold back, but she didn't elaborate either.

She could spill her heart to Isaac about many things, but with Frank, it wasn't so simple. His feelings for her were more than platonic, yet she couldn't reciprocate, so she kept her distance. By noon, Frank had finished cooking.

He declined to stay for lunch, saying, "If I stick around, it will only upset Mr. Martin and affect your relationship with him. I don't want to put you in a tough spot."

Harper furrowed her brow. "It's okay. He's just sulking because of me."

Frank simply nodded. "I've got plans nearby anyway. Now's as good a time as any to leave."

Despite Harper's attempts to persuade him to stay, Frank insisted on departing without dining, so Harper didn't bother anymore. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

When seeing him off, Harper advised, "Frank, don't bother bringing groceries next time. I've got cooking covered. You're already swamped with work at the company."

Frank was mildly surprised by Harper's gentle refusal.

He nodded. "Got it. Have some food while it's hot. You've been losing weight lately."

As Harper watched Frank step into the elevator, she closed the door.

After looking at the food on the table, she let out a silent sigh before heading to the kitchen to reheat the soup she'd made earlier.

After finishing up, she knocked on the bedroom door.

"Benjamin, it's lunchtime."

"You go ahead and eat with Frank. Don't worry about me. Even if I'm still running a fever and haven't had breakfast, it's no big deal. If I head to the dining room, it would just disrupt your meal with Frank and might even drive him away. Why do you even bother calling me?"

Benjamin's cold tone made Harper chuckle because he sounded just like a conniving bitch who was trying to victimize himself now.

Harper quipped. "Then I won't bother calling you anymore. I'll just dine solo."

"Why eat alone when Frank's playing chef for you?"

"He's gone now. Can't I enjoy a meal by myself?"

Harper smirked and returned to the table without further ado.

Just as she picked up her spoon, Benjamin stepped into the dining room.

She calmly inquired, "What are you in the mood for?"

Glancing indifferently at the spread, he coolly remarked, "I don't eat food from uninvited guests."

Harper had anticipated as much, so she had reheated the soup for him and prepared some sides.

But Benjamin showed no interest in eating and merely stated, "I have a headache."

Harper was stunned. "Have you taken any medicine? Why the sudden headache? Are you running a fever again?"

As she spoke, she approached him and felt his forehead, thinking, "Hm... It's not warm though."

"Because you've gotten me all worked up."

Then, he added accusingly.

Harper sighed in exasperation, "Benjamin, you're acting like such a child."

She moved to return to her seat, but before she could do so, Benjamin pulled her into his arms, seating her on his lap.

Instinctively, Harper looped her arms around his neck, arching an eyebrow inquisitively. "What's gotten into you?"

"I'm acting like a child?"

With one hand on Harper's waist and the other gently holding her chin, Benjamin's handsome face remained composed, but his tone hinted at something else.
