You Complete Me novel (Skylar and Coralie)

Chapter 165

Chapter 165

"It's for Skylar."

She didn't see the need to hide it from Xenia.

Xenia had seen Skylar before, but their relationship then was not as good as it was now.

"I knew that there was something going on between you two when I saw him the last time," Xenia

Lowell looked at the brand, and then at the package inside. "He's important enough for you to spend so

much money on him."

Coralie Chariott had always been a thrifty person. She was not willing to spend money on material

things at all.

In fact, the only reason she had made such an expensive purchase was due to the presence of another

customer who also wanted to buy the pair of cufflinks. Otherwise, Coralie would not have made up her

mind at once.

When the two arrived at the restaurant, Coralie sent the address to Skylar Holland.

After ordering the dishes, Xenia asked, "So, why did you look for me?"

"I wanted to ask you something. Is it possible for an ordinary but excellent employee to rise to become

a CFO in just two years?"

Coralie asked directly.

Xenia choked while she was drinking water. After a long pause, she said, "Of course not!"

"Not at all?"

In fact, Coralie had only seen a real CFO when she started working in Skyton Corporation. The

companies that she used to work in were small. Not to mention a CFO, the company where she once

worked with Xenia did not even have a chief accountant.

Xenia shook her head. She reached out and touched Coralie's head, "Are you okay? It's not difficult to

be the financial chief of a small company. However, you could hardly do anything in two years. And a

CFO plays a huge role in a company. If you're not capable, who's going to hire you?"

Although Xenia's words were a little harsh, she was merely telling the truth.

Coralie was embarrassed and she lowered her gaze, disappointed. After thinking for a while, she told

Xenia about her relationship with Skylar, his family's opposition, and the outstanding Valerie Rae.

"Are you in a soap opera?" Xenia's mouth fell open. She thought for a while and said, "Valerie posted

something on Facebook a couple of days ago. She said that she would do anything for love, and she

attached a picture of an artificial limb... Someone commented on her post but she didn't say anything."

Coralie certainly knew what Xenia was talking about, and she also told her what had happened before. Têxt © NôvelDrama.Org.

As for Valerie's illness, Coralie tried to voice her thoughts on it, something that she did not often do, "In

fact, I think that Valerie is just pretending. Her purpose is obvious. But I can't do anything about it. After

all, she did save me..."

Although Xenia and Valerie were classmates, the two of them were not close. It was inevitable that

Xenia would choose to believe in Coralie. She nodded and said, "Valerie was always easy-going and

appropriate, that was why she was very popular in school. But everyone must have a few people whom

they dislike. Wouldn't she have one too?"

"Well, I do think that she is really good at pleasing others..."

It was rare for Coralie and Xenia to meet up, so they started to gossip.

However, before Coralie could finish her words, a horrified expression on Xenia's face stopped her

from speaking. Xenia whispered while looking behind Coralie, "Oh my God, it's true that you can't talk

about others behind their back."

"What's wrong?"

Coralie turned around and looked behind her in confusion. She saw Valerie walking over with several

friends. She was wearing a beige coat, her curly hair smoothing over her shoulders, and on her face

was delicate makeup.

When Valerie saw Xenia and Coralie together, she seemed visibly surprised, "Do you two know each

other?"

"Yes, she's my ex-colleague."

Xenia said happily.

Coralie and Valerie do not seem to get along well. After all, Valerie did try to hurt herself twice because

of Coralie.

Therefore, Coralie chose to remain silent.

"Oh, I see," Valerie said, her eyes falling on the bag of the famous men's clothing brand next to Coralie.

She asked casually, "Skylar's birthday is around the corner. You bought that for him, right?"

"This..."

Coralie didn't know what to say. After all, Valerie had hurt herself a few times. She was afraid of

triggering her.

Xenia looked at Coralie, who seemed to be at a loss. They had talked about Valerie's symptoms

before, so she added quickly, "I bought that for my father. I showed it to her as she wanted to see it.

She is stingy. She wouldn't buy such an expensive thing."

"Yes, that's right."

Coralie said as she quickly picked up the bag and handed it to Xenia.

"I don't think so."

Valerie saw the unnatural look on their faces and knew that the bag probably belonged to Coralie.

After all, Coralie did not give any birthday presents to Skylar the year before. Hence, she would

definitely get one this year.

"Valerie, are you done yet?"

Valerie still wanted to say something, but her friends were starting to urge her. Therefore, she had to

leave.

Coralie and Xenia breathed a sigh of relief once Valerie left.

"That was a little weird."

"Well, let's not talk about her anymore."

Xenia and Coralie decided not to talk about Valerie and returned to the topic of becoming the

company's CFO. They collectively agreed that it was unlikely for Coralie to become a CFO in just a few

years.

It crushed Coralie's budding hope.

After paying the bill, the two went downstairs and saw Skylar's car parked at the door.

Xenia pretended to be unhappy and said, "Miss Chariott, could your husband not pick you up whenever

you have dinner with me? I have been single for many years, and this kind of affection annoys me."

"I'll try my best to stop him next time."

When Coralie saw Skylar, she was also a little embarrassed.

In fact, Skylar seldom picked her up. It just so happened that both times were when she was meeting

up with Xenia.

"Well, I'm going to get angry if you flaunt your relationship in front of me again next time," Xenia said

happily, "But do introduce some good men to me if you have any."

"Okay."

After a few words with Xenia, Coralie got into the car.

At this time, on the second floor.

Valerie stood in front of the window of the room on the second floor. She saw Skylar's car parked

downstairs just now, and she had been standing there watching ever since. As expected, Coralie and

Xenia came out soon.

Coralie was carrying the bag of men's clothing brand in her hand.

Valerie looked at her arm which had not fully recovered. She could not hurt herself for the time being.

However, when she stood there, her hands clenched subconsciously. The beautiful acrylic nails sunk

into her flesh, but she did not notice it at all.

......

When Coralie got into the car, the first thing she did was to pass the bag with the cufflinks to Skylar and

said, "Happy Birthday."

"So early?"

Skylar's birthday was on the weekend.

Coralie pouted, but she couldn't help smiling sweetly, "It's because you asked me out today. I bought it

just now and planned to give it to you on the weekend, but I couldn't possibly hide this large box."

She actually wanted to hide the box, but the gift box containing the cufflinks was rather large. She

could not bring herself to open it up. Thus, she could only give the gift in advance.
