Worship The Ground You Walk On

Chapter 37: I Wish You Well

Chapter 37: I Wish You Well

“She’s not well at all. She was ill.”

Before Claudia could say anything, Kim beat her to it and replied to Marshall quickly.

Shocked, Marshall froze. “How come?”

Kim answered him, “She had allergic reactions to some chemicals and was almost hospitalized! Not

only that, but Winifred also took advantage of it and nearly took Conrad away from her!”

Claudia felt a little embarrassed hearing Kim exaggerating the truth deliberately.

Marshall pulled up a chair and sat down, staring at Claudia with gleaming eyes. “What happened

exactly? What kind of chemicals caused your allergy?”

“Well, I will leave you two alone. I’m going to hang out with Conny over there.” Kim pointed at the

children’s indoor playground in the distance, where there was a huge pool of ocean balls. Conny must

love it.

When the two were left alone, Marshall held Claudia’s hands and stared at her with worried eyes.

Looking anxious, he asked with concern, “Tell me, what kind of chemicals caused your allergy on

earth? Are you well now?”

Marshall lifted Claudia’s sleeve as he spoke.

He was doing it so rapidly that it was too late for Claudia to stop him.

There was nothing wrong with her fair and tender skin.

Marshall heaved a sigh of relief and let go of her hand at the same time. “Are you alright now?”

Claudia nodded and said in sign language, “I’ve recovered. Just ignore Kim, because she’s being

dramatic.”

“The impact of allergies can be anywhere from minor to significant. In the worst case, people may die!

Claudia, you need to be more careful!”

As a doctor, Marshall was very sensitive to health issues.

Especially when it was somebody he cared, Marshall wouldn’t treat her lightly.

Claudia shook her head, meaning that she was fine now.

However, Marshall was still worried and gave Claudia a lot of advice. Finally, he came up with

something and asked, “Have you taken the medicine I gave you last time?”

Claudia nodded. What Marshall gave her was the decoction of medicinal herbs. All she needed to do

was keep it in the fridge, and microwave it before she took it every day, which was really convenient.

Marshall had always been so considerate.

Especially when it comes to Claudia, he would think of everything and take every detail into account.

Except that Claudia’s love was never meant for Marshall.

Therefore, she had no choice but to let him down.

“Did it work? Are you feeling better?” Marshall asked.

Claudia thought a moment. Maybe because she hadn’t given it enough time, or this was the wrong

medicine for her condition, she saw no signs of improvement.

Therefore, Claudia replied in sign language, “It’s been years since I lost my speech, and I don’t think

you can cure it in a short time. Marshall, I appreciate your hard work, but from now on...”

Marshall interrupted her before Claudia could finish her words.

He stopped her by gripping her hands with his and gave a calm smile, saying, “As long as it takes

effect, you’ll be fine. It will take you a long time to regain your speech, but as long as you don’t give up,

I believe you’ll definitely be able to speak again someday!” Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.

This was what Marshall had been going for all the time. Claudia and he had grown up together. When

they were little, her voice was sweet and pleasant, and that was how she was originally. So, Marshall

didn’t care what it took or how much it cost, and he would help her regain her voice in every possible

way!

Claudia didn’t know what to say for a moment.

She just felt as if the enormous iceberg in her heart began to melt little by little.

It had nothing to do with love, but Claudia was deeply touched.

However, a beautiful and familiar figure was standing on the staircase of the second floor, watching

Marshall and Claudia chatting downstairs at the table with a mysterious look on the face.

Amber took out her phone at once and took a few photos before she bolted into the toilet.

She typed something on her phone and was about to send these photos to Ben.

The moment her red nail was about to touch the send button, she paused.

There was no affectionate contact between Marshall and Claudia in these photos. Even if Ben saw

them, that wouldn’t stir up anything.

Presumably, nothing serious would happen. Therefore, Amber decided to give up, but she changed her

mind and made a phone call after some consideration.

“Come and do me a favor!”

Amber hung up and looked into the mirror, her red lips curving into a smile, her eyes glinting with

contempt. Then her smile broadened and became even more sinister.

After dinner, Claudia and Kim paid for the bill and left the restaurant, while Marshall went upstairs to

join his friends.

Kim went to the parking lot to pick up her car. Meanwhile, Claudia was waiting for her at the roadside

with Conrad in her arms. The little guy was in good spirits, pointing at the vehicles shuttling to and from

on the road, excited.

Usually, babies were curious about everything, and so was Conrad, who was still a little baby.

Smiling, Claudia held Conrad, standing by the road against the night breeze, letting the baby watch the

speeding vehicles.

Suddenly, Claudia was dazzled by the high beams and narrowed her eyes. Meanwhile, a car careered

towards her.

Claudia was too amazed to react for an instant.

Generally, one would fail to react when he was met with a huge shock, and so it was with Claudia. Her

feet seemed to be fixed to the ground, her blood freezing at this moment.

Even if Claudia was able to react, she could never be faster than a speeding car.

Apparently, the car was dashing towards her at breakneck speed. When Claudia was finally able to

move, the car was already at her fingertips, and she rushed towards the restaurant with the baby in her

arms. When in danger, the only one she thought of was Conrad.

Nothing could ever happen to the baby, no matter what!

At this time, Kim also drove out of the parking lot. She could feel that something was going on the road

ahead of her, but when she drove forward, it was too late!

That black car dashed towards Claudia across the sidewalk. The instant before it hit Claudia, she was

grabbed by the arm by a powerful hand and thrown into his arms.

Claudia stared at Marshall, who was right before her nose, in a panic, her weak body falling into his

arms and clutched to him.

Meanwhile, that car rushed by the two of them and pulled onto the road before disappearing into the

night.

Kim pulled up by the road at once and jumped off the car. “What’s wrong with that car? Are you OK,

Claudia?”

Claudia was more scared than hurt.

Ignoring herself, Claudia checked on Conrad in her arms. He was safe and sound, grinning, his little

hands playing with her hair.

Now Claudia let out a sigh of relief and realized that she was still in Marshall’s arms. They were so

close to each other that passers-by assumed they were more than just friends.

While in the corner, Amber took a photo of this scene with her phone. She watched that photo while a

sneer crossed her face.

Anyway, her little trick worked!
