Will You Marry Me, Again

Chapter 283

Chapter 283 A Fireworks Fest +15 BONUS Bill only wanted to complain to Baz about how helpless he felt just a while ago.

“How could she become the CEO of Starlight Entertainment if she wasn’t that capable? She’s also very important to Mr. Cedric. Mr. Cedric could throw his life away just for her. You’d better keep that in mind, I’m counting on you!”

Baz took his room key from the other staff before giving Bill a pat on his shoulder and walking off into the elevator.

Bill wiped the sweat from his forehead, took out his cell phone and texted his staff. “Ms. Maia is our important guest, make sure to give her our best service!”

After getting to their room, Hope immediately opened her suitcase and unpacked. She was also curious about her sister’s decision, so she asked, “Maia, why didn’t you just take that room? The view is something to die for!”

“I'm sure it still wouldn't be as good as sharing a room with you,” Maia said with a smile. “| don’t believe you! You didn’t take that room because you were worried about Mr. Cedric, right?” “Why bother asking when you already know?”

“| think Mr. Cedric still loves you. Although | don’t really know what happened between you two to lead to a divorce, are you sure you don’t want to give him another chance? Everyone makes mistakes. If it’s something forgivable, maybe he deserves a second chance,” Hope

commented.

Maia just shook her head and explained to Hope, “If you loved someone whole-heartedly, but he didn’t love you back, trust you and even tried to hurt you, would you still give him a second chance? It’s not about forgiveness.”

Hope glanced at Maia in realization. “Are you afraid that you'd get hurt if you give him a second chance?”

Maia could not come up with a definite answer to Hope’s question. She was not even sure what her own heart wanted. Back then, she would have told herself and the world how much she

had loved Cedric. However, that time was long past now. After being hurt countless times, Maia had used up all her courage and patience.! 4

“Maia, you're just afraid. Just because you don’t want to get hurt again, it doesn’t mean that you don’t love him anymore. Though I've never been in a relationship, I’ve experienced enough of it in my career. | could tell that you still love Mr. Cedric.

“Even though your eyes are cold when you look at him, there is no hate or disgust in them. If he was really someone you didn’t like, you would’ve hated him and tried your best to stay as far away as possible,” Hope reasoned, calmly.

“You're just running away from him. Maybe you've tried to stay away from him, but his continuous effort to pursue you had made you waver. Maia, are you sure you don’t love him?”

Maia’s browns furrowed as she continued to remain silent. She did not know what to say. Did she still love him? If she didn’t, why would she still feel her heart aching whenever she saw him?

Still, their relationship would officially end when Maia sought her revenge from Rita. He would never be able to accept a woman bent on sending his mother into prison.

“| don’t plan to get into a relationship anytime soon.” Maia had no time for that as she had more important things to settle.

Hope could finally understand her sister’s point of view as she comforted her. “I understand what you mean. We're so alike! | want to focus on my career too!”

Even though they claimed that they were focusing on their career, they knew that it was just an excuse. At least they were sure that their careers would never betray them, but love was a totally different story.

Hope’s eyes turned red as she thought about Buck. Noticing this, Maia quickly suggested that they watch the fireworks together. Maia glanced at her watch. They still had about 30 minutes to kill before the show would start.

Hope returned to her cheerful self at the mention of the fireworks. “What are we waiting for? Let’s go!” She instantly dragged Maia out of the room and went downstairs.

When they got to the beach, a crowd had already formed. No one wanted to miss the amazing fireworks show on Maya Cove.

The moment the sisters appeared on the beach, everyone’s attention was on them. It was a rare occasion to be able to see one of the most popular actresses in the industry and her famous CEO sister of Starlight Entertainment in person.

Maia and Hope stood close to the edge of the beach and waited for the fireworks to start.

At that moment, Maia noticed Fiona and her goons standing not far away from them. She was surprised to see them here. She wondered if they were also attending the awards show.

“Maia, what are you looking at?” Hope followed her gaze and saw Fiona too. “Why is she here? Is she here for the red carpet show?”

“She probably pulled some strings with her parents,” Maia said. 2/3 +15 BONUS

Hope nodded. “Definitely. The Obrien family is quite powerful in the entertainment industry. If she had only relied on her popularity, she would not have been invited the show.”

Fiona also saw them, but she chose to ignore their presence as she dragged her goons and went to other side of the crowd. “Well, that’s surprising. She might be afraid of you after what happened the last time.”

Maia eyed her suspiciously. She could not put her finger on it, but something felt strange about Fiona’s behavior. “Let’s not worry about her. The show's going to start soon.”

Hope nodded. As they looked up at the sky, the fireworks started! The dark sky was lit up by colorful shapes. It was a spectacular view! Just as the audience’s sense of anticipation started to die down, the sky lit up with a firework in the shape of the island.

“Maia, did you see that? It’s the shape of the island! This is the main show. It’s really

beautiful!” Hope commented excitedly. She was in awe at how amazing the fireworks were as they continued to blossom in the sky.

The fireworks were set off so rapidly that Hope’s eyes could not keep up with them. Various shapes and colors formed in the dark sky. Before she could see them all, they were already gone.

Aside from the staff of Maya Cove, most people on the beach were famous people who had been to all kinds of events. Yet, they were still mesmerized by the island's fireworks show.

The fireworks continued when suddenly the phrase ’11 years’ appeared in the sky. Everyone was confused as to what it meant. As Maia was so focused on the show, she too was taken aback to see ’11 years’ appearing in the sky. “| wonder what that means. Maia, do you know?” Hope tilted her head and asked in confusion.

When Hope did not receive any response, she turned to Maia. “Could this be the anniversary of Maya Cove? But | don’t think HL Corporation would've taken that long to build this place.”

Hope continued to wonder, but Maia still had not given her any response.

“Maia? Maia? Are you okay? Are you so mesmerized by the fireworks that you can’t answer my questions?” Hope pestered incessantly.

As Hope continued to talk to her, Maia was finally drawn back to reality. Just then, someone approached them and stood at Maia’s side.

Hope’s eyes widened in shock as she wanted to yelp, but before she could react, Cedric signaled her to stay quiet.

Hope was a smart girl. She pointed at a different direction and indicated that she would leave.

After that, she took a few steps back and disappeared from Maia’s side.

Maia was not aware that Hope had left and somebody else had replaced her. Maia mumbled ’11 years’ to herself and smiled bitterly. No one knew how much those numbers had meant to her. It was 11 years of love, heartache and pain.

She could not hold it in any longer as her emotions overwhelmed her. Tears started streaming down her face. Maia lowered her head as her hair framed her face and danced in the wind.

Maia lifted her head to the sky as the next firework was set off. Her tears fell onto the sandy beach, but to Cedric it felt as though they were dropped into his chest as he felt a scorching

sensation in his heart.

“There’s a local myth. If a couple watches the fireworks together, they would be together forever.” Maia turned her head toward the familiar voice. Their eyes met and they could feel

an instant attraction between them.

Cedric lit the sparkler in his hand and gave it to Maia. She froze for a while before raising her hand to accept it. As she looked at the beautiful sparkler, she recalled the winter that they had spent together.

That day, they had walked side by side in the snow.

“| heard that if a couple walks together in the snow, they will be together forever.

“That’s just a superstition.”

Maia looked at the sparkler as it extinguished in her hand. She smiled and glanced at Cedric.” That's just a superstition.” History had a tendency to repeat itself. It was just that their roles had switched.

“When the fireworks end, there will be nothing left. How could we be together forever? Just like when snow melts, nothing lasts as well.” Maia concluded as she threw the extinguished sparkle in the trash can and turned to leave.

Just as she was about to leave, he confessed. “Even if there’s nothing left, as long as I’m alive, I'll always have your back.” This was his promise to her.

Maia came to a halt as she was surprised by his earnest tone. She took a deep breath, clenched her hands tightly into fists and said, “I don’t need anyone to have my back.”

Maia rejected him and left without turning back.

At that moment, a few female artists started to gather around Cedric, including Fiona. She was wearing a sheer top with her bikini showing under it. She walked toward Cedric and addressed him sultrily.

“Leave.” Cedric ordered, not even looking at them. The crowd immediately dissipated in fear of angering him. Fiona stood on the spot awkwardly as she watched him leave. She gritted her teeth in anger as she had ended up being humiliated.

After he had left, Fiona’s goons approached her and asked with concern, “Fiona, are you okay?”
