CHAPTER 42
On the other end of the line, Miranda was stuhed. The image of Hansel and Ingrid holding hands in her photo resurfaced in her hind.
She said mildly, “If you don’t feel well, then go to the hospital. I’m not a doctor.” With that, she hung up the phone. Her tone was casual, as though she were just talking to a stranger.
Hansel clenched his jaw in anger, shaking from head to toe. He smashed the phone against the wall, causing it to break into pieces.
Martha was shocked. That was her phone!
Miranda’s words had made Hansel’s blood boil. He felt his stomach pain intensify. With a hint of defiance and stubbornness, he went upstairs and locked himself in his room.
Did she think that he couldn’t live without her? That was ridiculous!
Martha stared at her broken phone. Thinking of the phone call, she shook her head and sighed.
She didn’t know what Hansel was thinking. Miranda was such a nice girl. How could he have chased her away?
In the afternoon, after Martha was done cleaning, she knocked on the bedroom door
before she left. “Mr. Johnson?”
There was no reply. Thinking that Hansel was still angry, she left without much thought.
In the afternoon, Tina drove to the mansion. She unlocked the door using her fingerprint and entered the home with a sense of familiarity.
“Hans, I’m here on Mom’s orders. This time, it’s the daughter of the Quaker family, who’s a professor at the Columnus University–Hans? Are you there?”
She frowned. She called Hansel’s phone but heard it ring next to her. When she looked down, she found the phone on the coffee table.
His phone was home, so he should be too.
After a moment’s thought, she went upstairs. “Hans, are you in there? Mom asked me to invite you to a meal with the Quakers. Are you listening to me?”
She knocked on the door repeatedly, but there was no response.
What was going on? Why was there no response?
Furrowing her brow, she gave Martha a call.

Mr. Johnson has been home the entire time He didn’t look too well earlier. I think his gastric issues were giving him trouble. If youre saying it’s completely quiet, I hope he hasn’t fainted in there.”
When Tina heard that, she quickly used the spare key to open the door to Hansel’s room.
As she’d expected, the moment the door opened, she found Hansel lying motionless on the floor. His face was as white as a sheet.Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.

Seeing that he was awake, Calvin quickly got him a glass of water.
After quenching his thirst, Hansel shook his head, asking Calvin to put the glass away.
“Hans, are you feeling better? Tina gave us a call earlier and told us that you had fainted. We were so scared that we rushed over.”
“That’s right, Hans. You seemed fine before, so you nearly frightened us to death when. you ended up in the hospital.”
Hansel swept his gaze around the room. There were a number of people in the hospital. room; Sam, Zach, and the others were there. Tina stood by his bedside, watching him. worriedly. Even Evelyn had come.
Only Miranda wasn’t there.
Hansel’s lip twitched. She was really cruel.
“How’s my condition right now?”
Calvin replied, “The doctor said it was caused by irregular meals and excessive drinking over the past few days. Well… you burned a hole in your stomach.”
Tina curled her lips. “Hans, did you know I nearly died when I saw you like that earlier? As soon as I stepped into your room and saw you laying on the floor like that, my soul. nearly left my body.
“Fortunately, you’re fine. The doctor asked you to focus on recovering and not treat it like it’s nothing.”
From the moment Hansel had woken up, Evelyn’s expression had been stormy, as if indicating impending doom.
Seeing him in such a frail state, she couldn’t hold back her anger anymore. “Where’s
Miranda? How come she isn’t here even after such a huge incident?”
