Chapter 536 Are You Threatening Me
Sierra, who had lost hope in life, was now filled with a blazing sense of hope. She began to envision how she would look like in the future. Despite her severe burns, she believed she could undergo cosmetic surgery to restore her appearance with enough money.
Nancy felt anxious but was willing to give this plan a try. So she called Lewis.
However, Lewis didn't pick up. It had happened often before, but since she was guilty now, his failure to answer made her even more uneasy. "He's not answering the phone."
Sierra suggested, "Maybe we should try calling him later. He might not be in a good mood right now."
After all, he just learned about his background. He might need time to process it.
Nancy thought it made sense and put her phone down. She decided to call him later. After a brief contemplation, she decided to call Conrad to ask about Lewis.
Conrad glanced at the office and saw Lewis playing with a Newton's cradle. He looked bored. Holding the phone, he whispered, "Chairman Alvarez is in a meeting."
"Then wait until he's finished and tell him to come to Alvarez Manor."
"Alright, I'll let him know."
After hanging up, Conrad hesitated for a moment before entering the office. He glanced at the pile of documents on the desk and hesitantly began, "Chairman ..."
Lewis looked at him, and he couldn't continue.
Perplexed, Conrad asked, "So how should I address you now?"
Mr. Alvarez and Chairman Alvarez sounded the same. He couldn't just call him by his first name, could he?
Lewis retracted his gaze and continued playing with the Newton's cradle. "What's the matter?"
Conrad said, "What about these documents? Do you want to handle them?"
Since Lewis didn't respond, Conrad continued, "Madam Nancy just called. She asked you to visit the manor."
Lewis tapped the last ball of the Newton's cradle with his fingers. The golden ball stopped.
"How dare she ask me to return?" A faint smirk curved on his lips.
Conrad chuckled nervously. "So, should I decline on your behalf?"
He thought it was audacious of Nancy. Lewis hadn't caused any trouble for her, yet she willingly walked into his territory.
Lewis replied, "I'd like to see what game she's playing."
He stood abruptly, grabbed his coat from the chair, and walked out swiftly.
Conrad followed in haste.
Back in the car, Conrad informed Lewis that Sophia and Hannah had returned to Hardington. Apparently, Hannah had forcefully brought her back. Lewis stared out the window, expressionless. "Conrad, didn't the Yale family take any action after Seth's death?"
"No, they seem completely unaware of the situation," Conrad replied, sensing something amiss. "What are you suspecting? Since Ms. Yale knows about your true identity, the rest of the Yale family should know, too. Maybe that's why they haven't acted?"
"Where's Steward?"
"He's still up on the mountain, and Phineas is still in the hospital. I'm not sure how he's doing up there."
Lewis pondered briefly before saying, "Find some time to bring him down."
"Alright."
The car quickly arrived at Alvarez Manor.
Nancy and Sierra were chatting in the living room. Nancy, who had once looked down on Sierra, now felt a deep sense of guilt.
She wouldn't have opposed her relationship with Lewis if she had known Sierra was her daughter. Things might have been different now if the two had had a child.
She regretted her past actions.
But it wasn't too late to make
amends. Sierra had dated Lewis for
several years. There must be some affection between them. If she could establish a good relationship with Sierra, it would be equivalent to improving her relationship with Lewis. Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
Lewis saw this seemingly harmonious scene in the living room when he entered. It appeared to be a happy family gathering on the surface, but only the two woman knew their real intentions.
Sierra was the first to notice him. She greeted him joyfully, "Lewis, you're here."
As she spoke, Nancy also anxiously looked in his direction.
Lewis stood at the doorway, dressed in all black. He blocked the light from outside, making it difficult for others to discern his expression. Nancy no longer dared to adopt a superior attitude. She chuckled and said, "Lewis, what are you standing there for? Come and sit down." Lewis' gaze swept across their faces before he slowly approached them. Exuding a cold presence, he sat on the sofa.
The mother and daughter exchanged a glance. They didn't know how to proceed.
Nancy summoned her courage and asked, "Lewis, how's the company? Is it thriving?"
Lewis looked at her indifferently and replied, "Do you want it to thrive or not?"
Nancy chose her words carefully, but Sierra couldn't contain her patience. She asked directly, "Lewis, now that we've clarified our identities, do you have any plans?"
"What are your plans?" Lewis countered.
Sierra responded, "I am the
legitimate daughter of the Alvarez family. Naturally, I want to return to the Alvarez family openly. We should hold a press conference or
something. Otherwise,uld
the
point if only a few of us know?"
Lewis raised an eyebrow slightly. "And then?"
"But I'm worried about you. Your true identity will be exposed if we hold a press conference."
"Go on."
Lewis' attitude remained detached, leaving Sierra uncertain about his thoughts. She continued, "Lewis, as you know, I love you. I'm willing to sacrifice anything for you, even my life."
"I don't care about my identity, and I'm willing to give it up for you. However, you should also consider my feelings."
Sierra finished speaking in one breath and stared directly at Lewis.
Lewis asked, "So, what's your plan?"
Sierra's face brightened, and she eagerly said, "I think we should get
married. Whether we make our identities public or not doesn't matter. We're family, and what's mine is yours, right?"
Lewis leaned back and smiled ambiguously.
Sierra thought he might be interested, so she smiled along. However, the scars on her face were quite disfiguring. She looked like a ghost when she smiled.
Suddenly, Lewis remarked, "Are you trying to threaten me?"
Sierra's smile froze at the corner of her mouth, and she hurriedly explained, "How could it be a threat? I'm just discussing this with you. Isn't this something that needs to be resolved?
"We've been together for so many years. Initially, you said our backgrounds didn't match. Later, you claimed you couldn't divorce Josephine because of your promise to your grandfather.
"Now, both of these issues are resolved. Shouldn't you give me an answer after all these years?
"Look at my face and my leg. I sacrificed myself for you. I've dedicated the prime of my youth to you. You may not love me, but you must marry me. "You were willing to date me in the past. So why can't you marry me now?"
Sierra laid out her arguments. She believed she was close to convincing him. Lewis didn't seem to have a reason to refuse her from any angle. Getting married seemed to be the best solution.
