Chapter 15 We Are Not Familiar With Each Other
Chapter 15 We Are Not Familiar With Each Other
Mike's fingers touched the scar on her right leg faintly, and finally stopped there motionlessly. Kate was
secretly shocked. She held the glass of water, and her whole body stiffened.
'What did he mean?
Oh my God! Is he really the man that night?
The place he touched was exactly bit by that man.
Although he was impeccably handsome, a look from him could freeze many people to death.
Oh, my God.
I hope it's not him!
This man was too dangerous. I don't want to involve with him.
God bless me!'
Kate thought to herself.
However, the materials of her skirt was very thin, and his hot fingertips were like a spark that jumped
out of a flame, suddenly branded on her skin.
Her heart was beating fast.
A few seconds later, he sat down.
But he didn't say anything.
She stood, still holding the water. However, from the two sides of the corridor, they seemed to be in a
posture of getting close, as if he was taming her right leg.
Suddenly, she heard a voice behind her.
"Mike?" A slightly surprised voice came from above the corridor.
This voice shocked Kate.
Frightened, Kate quickly moved away to keep a safe distance from Mike. Her face flushed inexplicably.
She took the opportunity to take the teacup away.
"It's mine!" Mike said. He was still asking for water from her. At the thought of her job, Kate had no
choice but to turn around and give the tea to him.
Justin walked up to them and looked at the two of them from left to right before he said in a very
strange tone, "When are you so familiar with each other?"
"We are not familiar with each other," Kate explained quickly. She didn't want to get familiar with him.
Mike's typical black eyes darkened. He didn't say anything, but looked sideways at Kate, who took him
as a monster. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly.
"We are not very familiar," he followed her.
'Not VERY familiar?' Kate tried to figure it out. 'Does he mean that we are a little familiar?' she
wondered.
While she was thinking, a woman walked towards her.
Then a middle-aged woman's voice floated over, "Kate, I happen to have something to tell you." It was
Polly, the manager of the football club. The charming forty-year-old woman was wearing a neat black
business suit.
But there was an uncontrollable panic in her eyes.
"Okay." She immediately pretended to be obedient and left with Polly.
They reached Polly's spacious office.
Her formulaic attitude softened. She turned around, took out some exquisite bags from the cabinet and
handed them to her. "Kate, see if they are appropriate." The bag was full of branded clothes.
"Manager, they are too extravagant. I can't accept these." By instinct, Kate waved her hand and
stepped back to show her refusal.
Polly's sincere face flashed through her eyes. She was very beautiful. She was recommended by Polly
to be a football cheerleader.
When she was a bartender in the night club and was flirted by an old man, the strange Polly helped her
emotionally.
"Don't call me manager. You can call me aunt in private," Polly sighed and put the clothes into her
arms. "Take them. I promised your mother to take care of you. This is for grandma." And she also gave
her several bags of nourishment.
"Thank you." Seeing the firmness in Polly's eyes, Kate held the clothes in her arms and couldn't refuse
anymore. She looked at Polly gratefully, and it could be seen from her eyes that she was sincere to her.
She was good to her from the bottom of her heart.
This woman was nice to her. But Kate didn't know why.
"Have they bullied you recently?" Polly asked her with concern, pointing at a chair and motioning for
her to sit down.
"No," Kate replied.
"Everyone knows what happened between your sister and Daniel. You... Have you ever thought about
canceling the engagement?" A trace of embarrassment appeared on Polly's face. She looked at the
delicate girl in front of her. She was beautiful, but too cowardly.
"I..." Kate didn't expose her thoughts easily.
"Okay." Polly sighed again, "I know you like him all the time. You'd better go back now. It's getting late. I
happen to be back. I can give you a ride."
"Okay, thank you."
On the way, they chatted all the time. Close to the door of her house, Polly got out of the car and
looked at Kate under the street lamp. "If you think it through, I will help you cancel the engagement.
You have to marry a man who is good to you. No matter what happens, there is always a powerful
hand to protect you from the wind and rain outside. Do you know that?"
Polly seemed to have a lot of feelings and said meaningfully, "Rich people from the powerful families
always quarreled or plotted against each other. That's not a place you can bear." She seemed to be
warning, anxious and worried.
"Those rich playboys all hang out with women. They grew up with a silver spoon in their mouth. They
are heartless, cold, and even married for the interests of their families. The women they like are just
victims sometimes. So you should keep those noble young men at arm's length," she added.
Kate knew what Polly meant.
But she could tell that Polly's tone was only helpless and worried, not disdainful.
"Okay. I see. Don't worry." Kate raised her head and looked at the beautiful and worried face under the
street lamp. She knew that Polly said it sincerely.
No outsider would say this to her, except for her grandmother and Lucy.
She knew that a wealthy family was like a deep sea, but she had never planned to marry a rich family.
And she didn't want to get married in the twenty-first century.
Taking out a box from her pocket, Polly gave it to her again, "Here you are. A birthday gift for you."
"No, no. I can't accept it," Kate said. She could see that there was a jewelry in the box under the light,
and it must be very expensive, so she really didn't want to accept it.
In the twenty-second century, Kate also had parents, but they passed away when she was about thirty
years old, very few people cared about her like this. She felt lonely, so she felt very warm in her heart.
"Keep it. I engraved your name on it." Polly's voice was light, but it made people feel heavy.
"What?" Kate was slightly stunned.
Polly continued to push it into her arms, and when she found that she caught it, she withdrew her
hands and said solemnly, "A late birthday gift for you. I'm leaving." Then she looked back and saw
Kate's small house. After a long while, she turned around and left.
Kate stared blankly at Polly's car disappearing in the darkness and didn't react for a moment.
She stood there for a long time.
She then went back to her small house, where the light was on. She knew that her grandma had left it
for her, and there was still food on the table. Grandma's was so warm and peaceful.
Polly's love for her was like a long lost feeling, a feeling that she longed for. But it was hard to explain.
Kate sat under the light.
She opened the delicate jewelry box. There was a transparent jade bracelet in it. Judging from the
quality, it should be very expensive. Inside the bracelet, there was a line of words that could be seen
with the naked eye. "Kate, wish you happiness in your life."
"Wish you happiness all your life, ' she murmured.
She was moved by these words.
She stared at these small words, with tears in the corners of her eyes. This was the third person who
was so good to her besides her grandmother and Lucy.
Polly said that she was entrusted by her mother, so she treated her very well.
But this gift was too precious. Kate thought, 'I must return it to manager Liu tomorrow.'
On the second night.
After the football game was over, Kate knocked on Polly's door directly, and the door creaked open. At
this time, a man stretched out his head with a familiar wisp of yellow hair. She was a little shocked, and
then smiled, with a rolling smile in her eyes.
The corners of Justin's mouth twitched. He turned around and walked into the room.
"Kate, have a seat." Polly's tone returned to a formulaic one, indicating her to sit opposite Justin. To her ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .
surprise, the cold-faced Mike was sitting next to Justin. She wondered, 'Why is he here?'
She saw the cold expression on Mike's face, who was still wearing sportswear, and his eyes were
slightly closed, without looking at her at all.
She calmed down a little.
Polly also glanced at the direction of Mike, but found nothing. She thought she must have seen
something wrong in the corridor yesterday. How could he like Kate?
"Please get down to business. I'll be with you later." Looking at the situation in front of her, Kate thought
that the club must have something to talk with these men, so she was ready to leave.
"Okay." Polly wanted her to leave.
She turned around and walked out.
"Wait a minute!" All of a sudden, the silent Mike opened his mouth coldly, and his sharp eyes quickly
swept over Kate.
The room was filled with coldness all of a sudden.
Kate's heart trembled again and again as she heard his voice.
