Under the Heiress' Facade

Chapter 645

Chapter 645

The noise woke Xavier up. Before he could react, the lights were turned on, and Bernard grabbed him up from bed.

As soon as Xavier got used to the lights, he was baffled to see who was standing before him. "U-Uncle Bernard?" What was Bernard doing there?

"Mr. Bernard, what are you trying to do to Mr. Xavier? Let him go!" Marriott rushed over in her pajamas, and her hair was a mess. She grabbed Bernard's sleeves. "Please don't scare Mr. Xavier. He caught a cold two days ago. He just slept after we barely fed him medicine."

"Get out! This is none of your business." He gave her a spiteful look. He hated it when someone pulled him by his clothes.

His warning sent shudders down her spine. Just like other maids, she was afraid of Bernard. But she didn't release him because she was more worried about Xavier.

Bernard let go of Xavier to withdraw his hand, and Marriott fell onto the ground on her butt due to the sudden force.

He eyed Jackson at the door, who was too scared to enter the room. "Take her out of here!"

"Yes, sir!" Jackson quickly helped Marriott up and brought her out of the room.

He didn't dare to defy Bernard's orders because he was the employer. Besides, Bernard was older than Xavier. "Jackson, let me go! Get inside and protect Mr. Xavier! Do you hear me?" Marriott tried to wriggle free from Jackson because she was worried that Bernard might hurt Xavier

However, she was old, and men were born to be physically stronger. In the end, she was taken out of the room. Bernard kicked the door closed and locked it.

Alarmed, Xavier hugged the sheets and hid in the closet.

Before he could close the closet, Bernard managed to catch the back of his collar. He dragged him out.

Bernard threw him onto the floor and looked at him from the top. "What did you tell Hera that day?"

Xavier played dumb, fumbling around clumsily while trying to get up. "Uncle. Hide-and-seek. I haven't found a place to hide. Get out! No peeking!"

He tried to push Bernard out of the room, but unfortunately, Bernard didn't budge at all.

Bernard watched the one-man show, completely impressed by the flawless acting.

If Bernard hadn't seen the video with his eyes, he wouldn't have expected a man could pretend to be an idiot for so many years.

He took out his phone and pulled up a video for Xavier. "What did you tell Hera? Don't make me ask the third time, or I'll send this video to everyone in the Killian family."NôvelDrama.Org is the owner.

With one glance at the video, Xavier was stunned in his place.

It was the surveillance footage of him meeting Hera in Stoneworth Park. The whole process was recorded, including the time he entered the park and how he placed the things in the safe until his return to the Killian residence.

It was zoomed in, and the details were circled too!

Xavier's fearful eyes turned to Bernard. Xavier was very cautious that day. How did Bernard manage to find out about it?

"Spill it!" Bernard demanded.

Xavier gulped because he knew that Bernard was a man of his word. If this video was sent to the Killian family, his

sacrifice would go down the drain.

He had to keep his condition a secret before Hera could remember who the murderer was.

Left with no choice, Xavier said honestly, "I gave her... the documents and photos of Uncle Lucius' case."

Bernard's expression turned cold. "Where are they?"

Xavier hesitated for a moment, but he still decided to crawl under the bed to open a secret compartment underneath. He took a phone out and turned it on.

It was the same phone he used to show Hera the photos.

Bernard looked at the photos, and his expression turned grimmer. "Did you ask Hera to look into the case with you?"

Xavier could tell that Bernard was angry. Bernard had never changed; he was still extremely possessive whenever it was related to Hera.

"She's investigating it herself too. I simply shared the clues with her. Besides, she's most likely the witness of the crime scene," Xavier said.
