Chapter 30 An Awkward Encounter
Chapter 30 An Awkward Encounter
Her heart jumped when she saw James’ face, she looked greedily a few more times. Let her remember
this face for the rest of her life, the face she adores, admires and devotes herself as a woman...
The operation was very successful, Mia quietly walked out of the hospital after taking a short rest.
Penniless, she dialed Brooke’s phone.
Brooke arrived within half an hour, she hugged her and unavoidably started crying again. Brooke’s
parents weren’t there. After living in her house for two days, Mia’s mood gradually cleared up, and a
smile appeared on her face.
Brooke signed with relief and walked in from the balcony holding the phone.
“Who's calling? It's been so long,” Mia asked unintentionally. The paleness on her face wasn’t gone,
but she looked quite refreshed anyway.
Brooke didn't answer right away, but after thinking for a while, she said, “No one, a friend.” She blinked
and looked at Mia up and down before carefully saying, “Mia, we are good friends. I hope you can
really get out of this.”
With a soft look at her, Mia pouted her lips and tried to make herself smile more naturally, “Of course,
life is going on. Since I survived, I should also cherish my own life.”
“It's great!” Brooke clapped exaggeratedly, raised her eyebrows, “For your new life, I specially booked a
banquet at Riverside Hotel, you must go!”
“Riverside Hotel?” Mia touched Brooke’s forehead again, “Are you crazy? That's a four-star hotel. One
meal there will cost your one month's salary. No, no, if you want to go, let’s choose something
cheaper.”
Brooke took off Mia’s hand, held it in her palm, and suddenly puffed her nose and said, “Mia, to be
honest, as long as you can get out of the shadows, it will be worth two months or even one year's
salary!”
This is a friend! Mia was so touched that she could meet such a friend, and she hugged Brooke tightly,
“Brooke, don't worry, I will work hard to get out!”
"Well, then go with me,” Brooke was quite insistent. “And the person who is treating us today is a
mysterious person. We just have to eat.”
“Who?” she asked without intention, Brooke just refused to answer. She pushed her into the bathroom,
“Take a shower and dress beautifully.”
Unable to resist,
Mia took a shower in her house. Brooke didn’t know where but got a set of sky-blue skirts and put them
in front of her, saying, “I know you like this color, how about it? This on your figure will be enough to
drive people crazy.”
Mia smiled gratefully, and pushed back, “I’ll just wear my own clothes, I don't want this.” These days,
she has bothered her too much, how could she accept her gift again.
Brooke’s face sneered, “No way, the clothes have been bought, and they can't be returned. I can't wear
them without you. Should we throw them away?”
“Don't throw them away, I'll wear them!” Mia grabbed the clothes with the face unwilling to give them
up, and quickly put everything on.
Riverside Hotel.
Gorgeous and noble tall buildings all reflected luxury, and the people who entered and left were rich,
and there was an endless stream of cars and BMWs.
Mia pulled Brooke’s clothes, doing the last struggle, “Let's change the place.”
"You worry about what, let’s go!” Brooke dragged her towards the hotel door.
On the second floor, the high walls were clean and well-fitted, and they are very stylish. The melodious
violin sounded across the air and fall into Mia’s heart. Although she didn’t know the name of this
melody, she still liked it, it was clean and light.
The corners of the pink lips opened, and finally there was a real smile from the heart during all these
days.
However, the smile lasted only a few seconds. When he saw a man standing by the window and
beckoning to them, Mia’s small face twisted in embarrassment. Pulling Brooke as she didn’t come
forward, “How could it be him?”
It should have been long ago that Brooke knew no one else but him could afford to be a guest here.
Collin Hart, their classmate, the guy who has been chasing her for three years.
Mia turned around to leave, but Brooke pinched her tightly, “Mia, you promised me to go out, you can't
go back! Besides, the man has been chasing you for three years, can't you see this love?”
She could see, but her body now...
Already full of holes, dirty and dilapidated, she will make dirty anyone near her. What's more, her heart
has been closed, this life she may not be able to love.
Why Brooke didn’t let her go and held her hands tighter, “Since you are here, why not to give yourself a
chance? Do you still consider me a friend? If I am a friend, let me see after all the work I’ve done what
you do to get out instead of just running away and worrying me!”
“Sorry,” Mia finally softened. She can feel the pain alone but can't make her good friends feel sad. She
nodded, shook Brooke’s hand obediently and took a deep breath, “Brooke, I’ll listen to you.”
“That's right.”
When the two walked forward, Collin has already greeted them: “It's really my pleasure to invite you
two.”
Brooke didn't forget to tease him with a joke. Mia sat silently between two of then, with a faint smile on
her pale little face, reluctantly.
Collin fully displayed his demeanor and ordered a table with the most expensive items in the
restaurant, which made Brooke slap his tongue, “Collin Hart is really not an ordinary rich person, it
costs thousands for such a table.”
Collin smiled slightly, looking at Mia with his pampered and delicate face, and said without a deep
meaning, “As a man, we must have financial ability first, so that we can take care of our own women.”
Facing the love, he wanted to express, Mia could only turn her face away awkwardly, her small hands
squeezed tightly under the table. Collin kept picking up vegetables for Mia and seemed like
intentionally saying to her, “Now that I have officially entered the family business, my dad has left most
of the things to me. I'm busy a little bit, but finally I can be alone. I am truly independent. My parents
are all enlightened and will never interfere in my marriage. The woman I marry will become their
favorite daughter-in-law regardless of her identity.”
“He that loves the tree loves its branches,” Brooke looked up. She was eating a large piece of meat
imperceptibly and said to Mia, “Such a good conditions, if you ask me, just marry.”
“Brooke—" The straightforward words made her blush, and she became more embarrassed that she
couldn't lift her face. Born to have a thin skin, how could she withstand such teasing.
Brooke didn't intend to let her go and became a persuasive talker for Collin, “You used to think that the
man is a playboy, and live a good life based on the good food and drink of family business. Now see.
He is a real talent, and he did a great job in taking over the family business. Well, recently the TV
station even conducted an interview for him. Didn’t you watch it? Other reporters call him the most ideal
rich man of jet set. So good. This man, it’s not easy to find someone like him these days. Wow, Mia,
listen to me!”
She turned around and patted Mia’s shoulder heavily, the sincerity in her eyes was very obvious.
Mia stood there awkwardly, unable to say her refusal out loud, embarrassed for a while.
“General Manager Collin Hart has such an elegant attitude of mind!” Hearing a cold voice like a scoop
of snow, Mia shivered for no reason. When she raised her head, her face quickly faded, and she
became pale.
William Brown!
How could he come here!
Collin expressed joy on his face and respectfully reached out, “Mr. Brown, I didn't expect to meet you
here, let's have a dinner together.”
William’s eyes were gloomy, he even didn’t shake hands with Collin. Instead he cast his gaze on Mia,
his rolling emotions were complicated and difficult to distinguish.
Mia kept trembling like she was extremely cold.
He was her nightmare, a nightmare that she would never be able to face. How could it be such a
coincidence that they encountered it again. Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
“This is……”
Collin noticed William’s and the corners of his lips raised. He hugged Mia, “Oh, this is my girlfriend Mia
Charles. Mia, this is our biggest partner now, famous William Brown, president of Brown’s Group, a
Fortune 500 company...”
Mia didn't hear anything, and an unidentified but icy repetition rang in her ears, “Your girlfriend?” She
stared blankly at William who turned away and was about to leave, letting Collin sit down like a doll and
give her the food.
William’s stride stopped at the end of the aisle, and the restaurant manager bowed at forty-five degrees
and respectfully spread his hands, “President, the room is here.”
“No need!” he responded in a very bad tone, making the restaurant manager wipe his sweat for a while,
wondering what he did wrong. His look fell on Mia’s side not far away, “Put the screen there, right now!”
Mia, who had been hanging her head silently, only calmed down a little when she realized that William
had gone away.
Although she knew she had nothing to do with him anymore, his arrival still strongly affected her. His
aura and the expression in his eyes would make her uncontrollably afraid. Thinking of the days when
life was worse than death, her whole body couldn't help but shiver with cold.
“What's the matter?” Collin finally noticed her abnormality, “Is it cold?” Immediately a warm coat was
placed on her shoulders, Collin thoughtfully pulled the collar and adjust her clothes, and finally put hand
around her arm.
“Thanks...” Her dry lips spit out these two words, twisting her body unnaturally, trying to get out of his
embrace. She heard Brooke’s narrow voice, “Collin is really romantic and considerate. Being his
girlfriend means not only to get clothes from him, but also have a free chest to rely on, very happy.”
Collin chuckled and looked at Mia affectionately, his eyes filled with love, “If you want to talk about
happiness, I am the right example. The beauty in my arms is the one I have long admired...”
“Oh, I'm going to the bathroom!” Hearing the more explicit and straightforward words of them two, Mia
suddenly bounced off her body, finished speaking and hurried away toward the toilet.
Two sharp gazes from behind stared at her back, revealing deep anger. She took the clear water and
poured it on her face again and again. Finally, she buried her head in the palms altogether, suffocating
herself with that water. The water dried quickly, and when she started breathing again, she gasped
heavily, leaning weakly against the sink.
Hair glued to her pale and awkward face in the mirror. The water was dripping continuously, flowing into
her neck and across her chest, freezing her heart.
