Rodney’s happiness was evident.
He was delighted to see Ariana looking well.

” With a gentle squeeze of Ariana’s hand and a concerned look, Catalina said, “Make sure to take care of yourself these coming days.

They exchanged pleasantries for a bit longer before gathering around the dinner table, raising their glasses in a cheerful toast to celebrate Christmas.
Sarah, her husband, Ariana, and the two kids sipped juice.
Everyone settled into dinner and conversation, wearing a relaxed expression that had been absent for some time.
It seemed everything was back to normal now.
“What’s your plan now?” Sonia leaned closer to Ariana and whispered, “Has Holden popped the question?”
It was clear that Sonia was talking about Holden.

“Holden and I reconnected after five years apart.
It’s Like we’re rediscovering and falling for each other all over again.
”
Despite her teasing, Sonia understood Ariana’s feelings well.
“I get it; I really do,” Sonia said, nodding.
“And when the time comes, I’m going to be the most stunning bridesmaid ever!”
However, Sonia’s enthusiasm caused her to raise her voice a bit too much when she said “bridesmaid”, catching Maxwell’s attention.
“Bridesmaid, huh?” Maxwell looked at Sonia.
He said firmly, “Then count me in as a groomsman.
”
Just then, Sonia lifted her gaze to meet his eyes.
Suddenly, a shiver raced through Sonia, her heart thumping wildly.
She quickly regained her composure and averted her eyes.
“Why do I see you everywhere? Are you close with Holden? Do you guys hang out a lot?” As she sliced her steak, Sonia said, “Holden’s closest friend is Adrian, followed by Mitchel.
Do you really think you outrank them?”
Jennifer, who was nearby, had overheard Sonia’s conversation with Maxwell.
“Dr.
Chadwick has a thing for Ariana, right? So he’s basically Holden’s rival in love.
Calling them good friends-whom are you really mocking?” Jennifer set her glass down and flashed Sonia a smile.
“Plus, Adrian’s married now, so he can’t be the groomsman.
”
Maxwell caught on quickly.
He straightened his tie and declared with pride, “As a top-notch boss, I need to be where my employees are.novelbin

At this, both Ariana and Jennifer exchanged puzzled glances.
Something about Maxwell’s words felt off.
Despite the situation, Sonia appeared oblivious to anything amiss, continuing her argument with Maxwell.
“Really, if what you claim is true, how do you manage with so many employees at the company?” After a brief pause, Sonia added, “For employees, there’s nothing more irritating than their boss.

Maxwell’s smile faded as Sonia’s words sank in, and he stared at Sonia.
“What are you doing? Why are you staring at me like that?” Sonia eyed him cautiously.
“Why would you say that in front of your boss? It seems like you don’t want your year-end bonus now,” Maxwell remarked, his smile taking on a malicious edge.
Hearing this, Sonia quickly softened her tone, lavishing praise on Maxwell.
“That’s not what I meant.
I was just speaking nonsense.

Collins, you are the best boss anyone could ask for.
No employee dislikes you.
”
Her flattery seemed to diffuse Maxwell’s irritation.
The anger on his face disappeared.
Meanwhile, Ariana and Jennifer had been watching the exchange between Sonia and Maxwell closely, sensing something going on between them.
They exchanged knowing glances.
When they looked back at Maxwell, they saw him rise from his seat and approach Holden with a bottle of wine in hand, apparently ready to get close to Holden and be his future groomsman.
