"Why are you being so sarcastic? Aren't we also your family? Don't you want a strong family to support you, just like Zoey?" Terrence was getting agitated.

A strong family to support her? Yvette found Terrence laughable.

"Wasn't the Snyder family powerful enough when Dad had just passed away? What support did you provide me?" she asked mockingly.

When Terrence was once again rebuffed by Yvette, he raised his hand as if to strike her. However, he could only gingerly let his hand fall when he remembered Tristan's warning from a few days ago.

Before the Snyders' fall, Terrence had been nothing more than a tag-along behind these two. Lacking the necessary skills, he'd had no choice but to follow in their shadows as a lackey. "Mr. Shaw, Mr. Banks," Terrence greeted them obediently.

While Tristan ignored the useless man, Quentin nodded slightly and even asked, "Your stepsister's engagement party is about to begin. Why aren't you inside?"

During the engagement party, it was time for toasts after some of the formalities were completed. When Xavier came out, he handed Yvette a box. Yvette looked puzzled. "What's this?"

"It's from Dad. Look inside."

Yvette opened the box to find a luxurious and exquisite antique ruby necklace. It was obviously very expensive.

"I can't accept this. You should give it back to him." Yvette didn't want to be in anyone's debt by taking something without earning it.

"He already left; I can't give it back."

Xavier had anticipated her reaction and had been prepared. "Just keep it safe for now. When he visits next time, you can return it to him yourself."

Considering that Luke was elusive and the next meeting might only be at Jeremiah's wedding, Yvette thought that was the only way she could return the necklace.

"Did you have something to take

care of? You were away for quite a bit," she asked. She didn't realize that she was starting to care about

like before.

Xavier's life again, out

Xavier's lips curled into a slight smile. "Do you want to know?"

Yvette quickly turned her face away. "I don't."

While they were talking, they didn't notice Jeremiah and Zoey approaching them.

Jeremiah's eyes reflected the intimate scene between Xavier and Yvette, leaving him with mixed feelings he couldn't quite describe.
