Triumph Above All Chapter 16

Chapter 16

Betty said, “I remember that the old lady gave me a call earlier. She told me to persuade Yulia to sign the apology letter. She had a great attitude as well!”

“The old lady had never been this kind to me since I became a part of the Sue family.”

“Uhm… my mom had always been like that.”

Lincoln felt a little awkward.

Betty rolled her eyes “Dammit, why does she treat Skylar’s family differently? Isn’t it because you’re useless?”

“I thought about that day when Skylar visited home for two days. His presence made me sick. You’d be worse than him if it weren’t for your decent background.”

Lincoln spoke, “I…”

Betty continued, “Don’t you think that Skylar is poor?”

“He could release someone from the Northern police station just with a call although he doesn’t have a badge?”

“Could Skylar be a general who’s hiding his identity?”

Lincoln grinned bitterly, “How did you become more imaginative than me?”

“Why would he pledge his loyalty to the United States for 5 years if he has such a high rank in the military?”

“He even spent all his money and got dumped by his blind date.”

“Isn’t it pitiful;?”

Betty nodded and asked, “Then, how would you explain when he made that phone call to release Yvonne and Nicholas from the Northern Police station?”

“Perhaps he knew someone with authority to do so.”

Lincoln’s eyes lit up all of a sudden. “That could be possible.”

“Skylar had been a soldier for 6 years, and he must have known his comrades incredibly well.”

“Yeah, maybe one of them ended up becoming an authority figure.”

“They owe each other their lives on the battlefield. Asking for a favor shouldn’t be that hard.”

Betty grinned and said, “I didn’t expect Skylar to have such a close bond with them.”

“If you think about it, he said that he could bring us along to Dragon Commander’s disarming ceremony. Was he lying about it?” All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“We would be on cloud nine if we were allowed to participate in the ceremony!”

“Look at Skylar’s family, they’ve been bragging about it. Wasn’t it because Lincoln got the invitation?”

“Let’s see the look on her face if she knew that we also have the invitation.”

Lincoln’s heart trembled, “I’ll ask Skylar about it right now!”

Skylar heard Lincoln shouting at him, then went into the house with him.

“Here, have a seat. I need to ask you something.”

Lincoln said directly.

Skylar did not care either. He sat on the sofa with Lola in his arms.

“Skylar, do you know any big authority figures in Cloudtopia?”

Betty asked impatiently as soon as Skylar took a seat.

Skylar was stunned, he then answered, “There is an old comrade of mine in the Northern Police Station who’s the Chief of the police force. I don’t think he has much authority though.”

“So that’s how it is!”

Betty was disappointed. “I thought you knew a powerful authority figure so that you could get us an invitation. Turns out I was overthinking.”

Skylar asked, “You guys wanna go to the disarming ceremony?”

“That should be no problem. I’ll take you there tomorrow!”

Betty rolled her eyes. “The ceremony is tomorrow and you haven’t even been able to get us an invitation. Now, you’re saying that you’ll be taking us there? Does it hurt not to lie?”

Skylar replied, “Do I still need an invitation to bring you there?”

“Whoever dares to stop us will be in hot water.”

Betty rolled her eyes once more and went back to her room.

Lincoln sighed, then left.

Skylar was used to it. He watched cartoons with Lola for some time, then headed to his room.

As Skylar handed Lola over to Yulia, he said, “I’ll make you the star during the ceremony tomorrow. Why don’t you dress formally?”

Yulia smiled and stretched out her hand. “Where’s the invitation?”

Skylar shook his head. “I don’t have it.”

Yulia snorted and took Lola a bath.

Skylar was speechless.

Why did everyone think that he was lying?

Everything he said was true!

What happened to the trust between people?

He called Dianne as soon as he went back to his room. “Please announce it to the public that I will be proposing to a girl from the Sue family during the disarming ceremony tomorrow.”

Dianne answered, “Alright, boss. I’ll arrange the transport for you and my sister-in-law tomorrow morning.”

The next day, Yulia woke up at six in the morning from the commotion outside.

She walked out to the balcony and saw Lincoln and Betty stretching out their necks with their eyes filled with excitement

“What’s happening, dad?”

Lincoln pointed. “Look, over there!”

Yulia looked over.

The next moment, she was stunned by the sight in front of her.

There were jeeps with big red flowers at the entrance of the villa, occupying the entire street.

There were at least over a hundred of them.

Of course, the number of jeeps were not important.

Most importantly, all of the jeeps were in army green, and each of them had a military plate.

It was a convoy of military vehicles.

With such a scene going on, the surrounding communities were also taken aback by it.

Exclaims could be heard.

“Dear lord, who in the world has this much power to summon hundreds of military vehicles?”

Yulia’s jaw dropped.

Betty exclaimed in excitement, “I’ve heard that Dragon Commander will propose to a girl from the Sue family last night!”

“The military vehicles were decorated with red flowers, they must be picking up that girl!”

“I had no idea we would be able to live in the same villa as Dragon Commander’s fiancee. Plus, the girl’s surname is also Sue.”

“I’ve decided. When I’m free, I’ll stroll down there next time. Maybe by chance, I’ll meet him some day.

Betty looked hopeful.

Yulia’s mind was stricken by thunder.

Something Skylar said flashed through her mind all of a sudden.

“I’ll make you the star during the ceremony tomorrow.”

At that instant, Skylar rubbed his eyes and walked out of his room.
