Torn Between Love and Hate

Chapter 264 The End (Extra)

Deborah’s expression faltered for a moment, and she glanced at her, “Really?”

Evelyn wasn’t quite sure either. “I think so. Adrian has a friend who is a doctor from

abroad, and I heard it from him. However, Adrian mentioned that you might not want

to hear about this, so he didn’t tell you.”

After a long silence, Deborah ultimately didn’t say anything.

She couldn’t quite put her finger on her feelings, but she thought that someone like Ashton probably

wouldn’t die so easily, right?

It sounds a bit far-fetched, unrealistic, and not genuine.

He was that kind of person.

She didn’t stand outside for long; she turned around and went back in.

Louis, who was already over a year old, saw Deborah come in and, like a penguin,

-wobbled toward her with excitement.

Deborah laughed, immediately crouching down with her arms open wide to catch him.

Today is Lydia’s birthday, and Deborah hasn’t visited the cemetery to pay her respects.

yet.

She asked Joseph to stay behind and help the Moxley family prepare for tomorrow’s

wedding, while she took Louis and Alyssa to the cemetery.

Joseph is always serious in front of others, but he becomes particularly clingy when he’s

with her.

Upon seeing her about to leave, he couldn’t help but feel reluctant, “Let me go with you.

I’ll drive.”

Deborah couldn’t help but laugh, “Alright, that’s enough. Tomorrow is Adrian and Evelyn’s wedding, and

there’s a lot to do. You can help out here. I’m going to the

cemetery, but there’s a driver, so I’ll be back soon.”

Joseph reluctantly nodded and watched her leave.

Adrian grabbed him and pulled him away, “Alright, alright, stop staring. Help me with Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.

the chores, you’re almost turning into a statue.”

When Deborah arrived at the cemetery, she walked toward Lydia’s grave and noticed a woman

crouching in front of another tombstone. The woman’s silhouette seemed

somewhat familiar.

As Alyssa walked past the person, her steps suddenly came to a halt.

Deborah looked at Alyssa strangely, then followed her gaze to see Ashton’s photo on the

tombstone.

For a moment, Deborah felt as if it was some kind of prank.

Upon closer inspection, it became clear that the woman crouching in front of the

graveyard was none other than Rebecca.

In that photo, Ashton appeared to be around seventeen or eighteen years old.

His facial features were youthful yet profound, with an undeniable sharpness between his brows and

eyes.

Deborah felt that Ashton seemed a bit unfamiliar, perhaps it was really because she hadn’t seen him

for such a long time.

Upon careful reflection, she realized that when she first met Ashton, he was nineteen.

years old.

At that time, he was indeed like this.

Upon hearing a commotion behind her, Rebecca stood up and turned around to take a

look.

She said, “Deborah, what a coincidence,” but her expression didn’t seem surprised at

all.

She was actually just waiting here, waiting for Deborah to come over.

Because today happens to be Lydia’s birthday.

Before Ashton passed away, he told Rebecca that after his death, she should stay in that foreign land.

Do not tell Deborah; do not let her know.

Rebecca could clearly see in his eyes that he really wanted to meet Deborah and Alyssa

again.

So after all this time, she couldn’t help but bring him back here.

Deborah simply replied, “Sure,” without saying anything more. She continued walking

forward with Alyssa and Louis.

The wind began to blow, carrying the lingering warmth of late summer as it stirred a bunch of white

chrysanthemums in front of Ashton’s tombstone.

Delicate petals, blown to the ground, followed the wind to rest at Deborah’s feet.

Alyssa glanced down and crouched to pick it up.

Deborah held Louis in her arms and looked at Alyssa, who had suddenly stopped and crouched down

beside her. She asked, “What’s wrong?”

Alyssa immediately stood up and shook her head, “Mommy, I’m fine.”

Deborah held Louis in one arm while grasping Alyssa’s hand with the other, continuing

to walk forward.

Alyssa loosened her clenched hand, allowing the petals in her palm to fall back to the ground. They

were carried away by the wind, disappearing from sight.

Alyssa loosened her grip and instead held Deborah’s hand tightly, not looking back.

This year, Deborah is 30 years old, while Ashton has already turned 35.

Oh, that’s not right, he won’t be turning 35 anymore.

Their story has already come to an end, and it ended long ago.
