Their End, My Beginning

Chapter 18

Chapter 18

*Kat’s POV

After the small celebration inside the meeting room, we all got out and were greeted by a huge

congrats. All people from our department came bursting into the party poppers. A thrilled chief came

and hugged, causing all of us to gasp. “What!! I do hug people.” Says chief knowing the reason behind

our shocked expression. She never hugged anyone, never given handshakes to her subordinates her

handshakes were reserved for our client and her superior.

Looking at me, she said, “You pulled it off quite well. I knew you could do it, but it was a little surprising

to hear him say we got the deal. Congrats as a present take rest of the day off.” She said and barks at

everyone except me to get back to their work. With one more pat on my shoulder, she left.

I was still shocked with everything, but mostly Ryder accepting our deal. By the looks on his face I

knew he was having inner battle whether to accept, I guess it might be because of the rest of the men’s

compliments which made him agree. I am sad, happy, shocked, anxious. Sad, because I thought when Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

I see him again, I would get a tight hug from him and his explanation to why he acted as if he didn’t

know me the day before the funeral and the reason why he didn’t attend the funeral but all I got was

disgust and some emotion I can’t decipher. He always has been good with expressing his emotions,

only if he wants the other person to know will they get what his face expression means. Happy,

because I got the deal meaning I still have my job and also because I saw him again even if it was not

how I imagined it to be. Shocked, well, it hasn’t been gone from my face since the turn of events

starting from his acceptance. Anxious, because getting this deal means I will get to work with him,

since I have to know what type of design and stuffs related to it and it will only be possible if I am in his

company this has been how we have been working.

Some companies email us the exact idea so that we don’t have to work with them, but that also means

if they wish to change later it can’t be done since it will be too late since we are not there in their

company for them to let us know before we do something on our design. For some other companies

they insist on us to work with them so that if any changes occur, we can make that changes since we

work with how their idea develops and not on our idea, though there are some touches from ours as

well. This is done so that our design can be flexible for them to change. And working with any company

means headache for an entire year or months depending on the design.

And in this case, I will have to work with Waynst since that was already said when they asked for the

presentation.

With all these thoughts on my mind, I went home.

---

When I opened the door, I saw Mandy on the couch with curiosity written on her face. I closed the door

and went and slump down in the chair.

“Okay, that is not happy face meaning something bad happened. What is it?” asked Mandy.

“Well, there’s two things: one is happy and one is sad.” I said, and she hummed to continue.

“The fortunate part is that I got the deal.” And before she could jump up and down happily, I said, “the

sad part is that the person who came was Ryder.”

“What? But... How? Why?” she asked, not being able to continue with her sentences.

“Apparently, Ryder is the CEO of Waynst Ltd.” I said, adding to more of her doubts.

“But isn’t his company named Scott.” I nodded, and there was a silence for 3 second before she asked,

“Wait isn’t his mother’s last name Wayne?”

“And his father’s last name is Scott, and that makes it Waynst. God, how I can I forget something like

that?” I asked. And she patted my shoulder to comfort me .

“It might be because you were shocked after seeing him. Wait, if he is the CEO, how can he accept the

deal I mean he has been avoiding us, removing all the clues that lead to where he lives or his

number?” she asked

“That was the same question in my mind when he accepted the deal. The possibility is that the men

who were present in the meeting room were happy with my presentation.” She nodded. And suddenly

her brows furrowed.

“Why is his appearance sad news isn’t that what you wanted to get the laptop?”

“It is sad because he was looking at me as if I was a stranger. And something in me tells me that

working with him will not be great. Also, I can’t just ask him for his help when he doesn’t even want to

be in the same room as I.” I said and felt a hand on my cheek wiping the fallen tear. I didn’t even know I

was crying.

“Sush Kat, it’s going to be alright.” She says pulling me for a hug.
