The Woman From Hell

Chapter 2681

After Neil left, I went up to check on Theo.

Pushing open the door to the study, I saw Theo looking up before looking away again when he saw me.

It was as I expected.

I closed the door and went downstairs to cut up some more fruit before bringing it up and placing it on the table. "You didn't have any just now. Eat some?"

He immediately looked away from me and was unwilling to speak.

What a petty and difficult man.Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.

I muttered silently. He actually guessed that I was complaining and said, "Don't think I don't know that you're complaining about me silently."

I could not help being taken aback and let out a few coughs to cover up my embarrassment, "How could I dare? Will President Grant let bygones be bygones? Just take a bite."

Picking up a small piece of fruit, I placed it near his mouth. Finally, Theo softened and he opened his mouth to eat it.

"This means you forgive me now." I raised my brow, looking forward to his response with a smile on my face.

After he was done eating the fruit, Theo put down the document and looked at me seriously. "Wanda, I don't care what your reasons are for what happened tonight. I won't pursue it, but I hope there won't be a next time."

I pursed my lips. The man's majestic eyes and serious tone made me unable to refuse him, but still my mind remained wanting to reconcile the two brothers.

"I know his mother may have brought you a lot of grief, but it's not his fault. Let him go for what happened in the past. He's a really good person and not like his mother."

Theo shook his head when he heard that, his smile mocking. "I won't be able to accept him as long as he's that woman's child."

"Theo."

"I won't talk about this anymore. I hope you can step into my shoes and think about it." Theo cut me off before lowering his head and going back to work.

I could only swallow back the words I wanted to say. Looking at Theo, he was decisive. It looked like it would really be impossible.

Sighing, I turned and left the study.

Late that night, I woke up after falling asleep. The bed was still cold and empty beside me.

Theo had not come to bed yet.

I peeled the blanket off me and got out of bed. I did not see Theo in the study.

Where did he go?

"Why did you come down?" Theo looked at me.

*I didn't see you when I woke up, so I thought I'd come and look for you. Are you still thinking about Niel?"

Theo inhaled. I could tell what he had on his mind despite him not saying anything.

"I indeed failed to consider the situation from your perspective. I'm sorry. I won't force you again."

I had been thinking quite a bit after

"I'm your wife, but all I think about is helping other people. I'm truly terrible."

I hung my head depressed.

Theo grasped my hand. Feeling how cold my hand was, he took me into his arms and put the coat over me. "I don't blame you. You're a very good wife."

"You really think so?"

"Of course." Theo looked down at me, his gaze sincere.

My smile brightened, and I nestled myself into his arms as we stood there for a long, long time...
