The Woman From Hell

Back at my seat, Nina and Jason went around making a toast at each table. I could not help my hands tightening around the folder when I saw Nina's smiling face.

Theo noticed something off with me. He touched me before whispering into my ear, "What's wrong? You said you were going backstage to take a look, but Nina came back a long time ago while you only just did. What's this folder?" Looking down at it, my heart trembled. "I'll tell you when we go back." I shifted my gaze to Nina again. These photos could not be leaked out.

Nina and Jason finally came to our table. "Wanda, Jason and I are so grateful to you."

"Congratulations, you two."

They were so happy now. I could not bring myself to imagine what Nina's face would be like if what happened in the mountains were exposed.

Caroline may be kind, but she was also conservative. If she knew Nina had had an abortion... I dared not think about it.

I had to guard this incident no matter what.

My mind was absent till the end of the wedding. Since Theo and I had both drunk, we got ourselves a substitute driver.

Sitting in the backseat, I felt a sudden warmth on my cold palm. Theo was holding my hand. I turned to look at him and realized that he was also looking at me. He smiled at me lightly and said, "You haven't been acting yourself since you came back to our table at the wedding. Tell me what happened, hmm?"

I did not want to hide this issue from Theo, so I handed him the folder. "Just look at it."

Theo took the folder and slid the photos out. I noted his surprised expression and figured he probably understood why I had been so disspirited.

After arriving home, we had a deeper discussion about the issue, and I told Theo about the man I met at the hotel just now and what he said.

Theo's handsome brows were furrowed tight as he touched his chin with a thoughtful look. "Samuel Aster. It's my first time hearing this name too. It's likely I don't know him, and it's unlikely he's from a foe."

backing him. But since he started tracking me from long ago really can't figure out who it might be." Even if I were to split my head from thinking, I did not know anyone who might have such a deep grievance against me.

I looked at Theo. His expression was also sullen. It was obvious he could not think of anyone either.

"He didn't keep it a secret from you and was obviously confident. Even if we find out who he is, we might not be able to find him or pose a threat to him."

I nodded, agreeing with whatever he said. "You said you might not be able to find him. Could it be that this person has no registered residence?"

"There aren't many people without a registered residence. I don't think that's the case. You said someone is backing him. In that case, this person might have found a way to conceal his identity." "You mean that person might not be Samuel Aster at all?"

"It's very possible. He might not have necessarily given you his real name either."

Theo's words stunned me. "You're right. I was too sure about it. But he has the photos saved now. I can only wait for him to contact me, and that's too much like resigning myself to fate. In case he doesn't keep his promises, Nina will..."

"Don't worry. The hotel would have surveillance. Perhaps we can find out what he looks like, then it'll be relatively easier for us to find him. I'll call Keith and ask him to look.

Having Theo here gave me so much relief. I sighed. "I know. I'm just worried about Nina. If this gets out, she'll be the one who's hurt the most."

"Don't worry, I'll take care of this with you." Theo hugged me before then making his way to the balcony to make a call.

I looked at his figure. Despite still being worried, I already felt much more at ease.
