The Woman From Hell

Chapter 2657

As I made my way back, the wind blowing against my face woke me up.

It had indeed been wrong of me to arrange a blind date without Marius' permission, thus angering him.

His words lingered in my mind. "It seems that you really don't understand what I want."

I truly... did not seem to know what he wanted.

Lowering my head, I stared at my feet as I walked and fell into deep thought.

Despite knowing him for so long, I knew nothing about him.

I always felt a sense of debt toward him.

My feet came to a standstill, my mind in shambles. Could I still have a friend like Marius?

Sighing, I continued on. I passed an alley where I heard the sound of fighting. I had not wanted to stop, but then I heard a familiar voice.

"Did Walter Waters send you?"

This voice. Neil?

I took a few steps forward and heard it even clearer. "What about it? You're the one who offended President Waters. I'll make sure to beat you up good today!"

"I called the police. If you don't want to get caught, leave quickly."

It really was Neil.

"Don't try to scare us. You ain't escaping this beating today!"

I recalled having seen a few traffic police at the front just now and quickly turned back. Sure enough, there they were.

"Excuse me, there's a man getting beaten up in the alleyway up front. Can you help?"Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.

"Let's go."

I led the policemen to the alleyway. Neil had already taken a few punches.

"Hey! What are you guys up to?!"

I ran to Neil's side. "Are you alright?"

"Wanda, why are you here?"

The police apprehended the men and then brought us along to the station to make a report. They allowed Neil and me to leave after that.

Seeing Neil's face all bruised, I went to a pharmacy and got him some medicine. “Let's go. It'll be faster for me to apply the medicine for you up ahead."

"Thank you."

We found a flight of steps and sat down before I started applying the medicine on him. "It must hurt. Did Walter Waters send those people?"

"Yeah. He probably wanted revenge since I embarrassed him at the conference."

"What a petty man. You didn't even say much of anything."

Neil smiled lightly at that. "He couldn't go after you or President Grant. So, of course, he could only come after me."

At the mention of Theo, I recalled their conversation outside the other day.

If Theo did not wish to tell me about it, would Neil?

My hand with the medicine stilled, which caught Neil's attention. "What's wrong?"

I came back to my senses and continued tending to his wounds. "That should do it. Take these home with you. Put on more if your wounds aren't better." "Thank you."

"I'm happy to be able to help you

once. You've helped me all the while before yet Theo still treats you like that. I'm sorry about that," I lowered my gaze and said apologetically.

Neil looked like he had not taken all that to heart. "It's really fine. I understand him."

With the atmosphere like this now, could I ask him about it?

"Uhm... Can I ask you a question?" I looked at him seriously with a stern expression.

"You want to know what's my relationship with President Grant?" Neil looked at me as he gave voice to the question in my heart.

I nodded. "Yes. If I could. I'm really curious, but Theo won't tell me."

"It's not unusual for him to not tell

you since it's a pain he holds in his heart." Neil put his hands behind his back and looked up at the sky. He looked as if he was recalling something.

This aroused my curiosity even more. "Just what is it?" I asked.
