Chapter 2645
I could vaguely sense that something was not right when I noticed Theo's hastened footsteps. Come to think of it, things had been unusual ever since he met Neil for the first time. Although I suspected he was being jealous, his behavior was not the same as when he was jealous.
When I turned to look back at where I was just now, I realized Neil had already walked away as well.
I stopped and looked at Theo's back before calling out to him, "Theo."
Theo's steps halted as well when he heard me.
I approached him and stood before him, stating, "He left."
"Yes," Theo replied apathetically as he looked at me calmly with one hand in his pocket.
I lowered my eyes slightly and questioned in a soft voice, "Why?"
"Let's go back." Theo did not answer my question.
"Alright."
He led me toward the exit as soon as I agreed to his suggestion.
However, even after getting in the car, he did not start it for a long time.
"Why not let me drive this time?"
Although Theo's expression appeared composed, I could tell that his mind was in shambles at the moment.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
Not hearing any objections from him, I opened the door and immediately got out of the car. Then, I opened the door to the driver's seat and signaled for him to switch places. Theo got out of the car and into the passenger seat. Meanwhile, I grabbed the slippers I had prepared earlier from the trunk and slipped them on once I got into the driver's seat. Subsequently, I slowly drove the car out of the parking lot.
Silence permeated the car the entire journey to the point of eeriness.
With a quick glimpse through the corner of my eye, I noticed Theo's bemused expression, and worries began to emerge in my heart.
It was rare to see him like this. I started wondering if he was related to Neil in some way. Why did he act strangely every time he met him, especially today?
As I continued to drive the car slowly, I cleared my throat and asked out of curiosity, "Can you tell me why you become like this whenever you cross paths with Neil?"
Theo's expression changed when he heard my question. His eyes which were initially undisturbed flickered all of a sudden. Anxiety was evident on his face as he leaned against the car window, one hand supporting his
chin.
I waited for his answer patiently. Time trickled by unknowingly while I waited for his reply.
"I don't like him. I hope you won't meet with him in the future if there isn't a need to."
He parted his lips and spoke after a long while.
Judging from the chill of his tone, he seemed to really dislike Neil. Yet, Neil obviously had not done anything to stoke Theo's ire.
I was clueless as to why Theo hated him. Since there must be a reason behind his dislike for Neil, I asked, "Have you met him before?" He merely shook his head. "I don't know him."
His response was blunt, and it was this decisiveness that made it all the more perplexing.
"Since both of you have just gotten to know each other, why do you already dislike him? He has helped me a lot and is my friend. It'd be undue for us to avoid him like this," I
expressed my thoughts slowly
while carefully observing his reactions. However, he still remained aloof with
nothing else showing on his face.
With that, the car was once again silent.
As we were arriving home soon, I parked the car on the side of the road, wanting to have a proper discussion with Theo about this. I turned to look at him and waited for his answer.
A moment later, Theo glanced at me
with dark eyes. "You've gone through so much. Are you sure you can guarantee that he's a good person? Are you sure there's nothing strange about someone who appeared by your side out of nowhere, protecting you and yet not expecting anything in return?"
His sudden interrogation left me dumbfounded.
I recalled the first time I met Neil. We met back then because Silas had sent people over. When Neil appeared, I was moved. I wondered if that had been a coincidenceor if he had something to do with Silas. "You probably don't even know his family background. How can you be sure that he's not aiming for something?"
At his further questioning, my throat bobbed slightly in an attempt to answer, but the answer eluded me. "I..."
