The unwanted wife’s unexpected comeback

Chapter 14

Chapter 14:

? ? ? ? ?

Joshua stopped suddenly, as if a switch had been turned on in his mind.

He came to his senses again and reluctantly released Alice.

Taking advantage of the moment, Alicia bent her knee and dealt a powerful blow to his crotch.

Joshua lost the color from his face as pain coursed through him, rendering him immobile.

Alicia quickly stood up and straightened her clothes, shaking off the tension.

Her heart raced with lingering fear, but her anger toward Joshua grew stronger. She felt an overwhelming urge to smash his head in.

But Alice realized that she was outnumbered and had no chance of winning the fight. Fighting back would only put her in greater danger.

Suppressing her anger, she grabbed the divorce agreement and headed for the door.

At that moment, Lilliana appeared, coming down the stairs and blocking Alice's path.

Lilliana's eyes were filled with disdain as she said with contempt, "Despicable bitch."Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Alice's anger flared even more in response to Lilliana's words.

He cast a cold glance at Lilliana.

Lilliana looked at Alicia and stood her ground.

"You talk about divorce, and yet you shamelessly interfere in my life with Joshua. I never took you for someone so manipulative, Alicia."

Joshua listened to Lilliana's words and stood up, enduring the pain of Alicia's blow.

Lilliana continued,

“Don't even pretend that Joshua forced you. I have ignored you for two years of marriage. Why would he change now?”

Joshua grabbed Lilliana’s arm firmly. “Lilliana, stop acting like that. It’s beneath you.”

Alice stood up straight. A mocking smile appeared on her lips.

"I never thought I'd see a mistress being so daring."

Lilliana's expression changed to anger.

"What ridiculous accusations are you making?"

Before he could finish his retort, Alice's slap landed like a bullet.

The sound echoed through the room.

This action shocked both Lilliana and Joshua.

“Did you not understand what I said? Maybe a slap will clear it up for you.” Alice's voice was cold as she fixed her gaze on Lilliana.

Lilliana's delicate face flushed.

She screamed in pain, got up from Joshua's embrace and shouted at Alicia: "How dare you hit me!"

In a fit of anger, Lilliana raised her hand to retaliate, but Alice quickly grabbed her wrist and, without hesitation, slapped her on the other cheek.

Lilliana staggered back, her vision blurring. Her screams echoed through the air.

When Joshua regained his composure, he grabbed Lilliana and turned to Alicia.

"That's enough, Alice!"

Alice had reached her limit. She shook off her aching hand and stared at them.

“One slap is for your filthy words, and the other is for your disgusting actions. You are a celebrity, and you stoop so low as to drug someone? Do you have no shame?”

Joshua's confusion increased.

"What are you talking about? Drugging?"

Alice had no intention of staying any longer. Without another word, she turned and walked out of the house, eager to escape the madness.

The door closed behind her, but the room remained in disarray.

Lilliana's face was swollen and her screams ran through the room as she gasped for air between sobs.

Joshua's irritation grew with each sob and he struggled to contain his frustration. He brought ice and gently placed it on Joshua's face to reduce the swelling.

When the room fell silent, he asked, “What did Alice mean by ‘drug’?”

Hatred filled Lilliana's tearful eyes.

Without hesitation, he confessed: “On your second wedding anniversary, I drugged her with a love potion to get her to sleep with someone else.”

Joshua's chest tightened as a surge of rage emerged through him. He has fought back the curses that threatened to spill out of his mouth.

Lilliana noticed his gloomy expression and asked, “What? Do you feel bad for her now? Are you upset? “I just did that to make sure she wouldn’t cling to you and refuse the divorce.”

Joshua closed his eyes, fighting to control his anger.

Fury gripped him and he wanted to strangle her for her stupidity. However, he could not allow himself to lose the powerful influence of Lilliana's family.

“No,” Joshua muttered, holding back his anger as he hugged her. “She's nothing more than a housekeeper to me.”

“So why do you seem so upset?” Lilliana asked, her voice shaking slightly.

Joshua forced himself to remain calm and replied, “I was going to wait until my father passed away to file for divorce. But I won't let you suffer. “What’s done is done.”

After hearing his explanation, Lilliana softened. “Don't worry. I’ll have my father support you,” he said, trying to reassure her.

She said softly, touching her stomach, “And now that I'm pregnant, Caden won't be able to defy you.”

Joshua did not respond.

Right now, he didn't care about the inheritance. All he could feel was an uneasiness he couldn't shake.

It took Lilliana forever to calm down.

“If it weren't for my status, I would have sent her to jail the moment she laid a hand on me!” Lilliana exclaimed, her voice filled with anger. “Joshua, you have to do something about that bitch. “Teach her a lesson.”

“Fine. “I’ll do it,” Joshua muttered tiredly.

Then he went into the study to smoke a cigarette. Images of Alice flashed through his mind like a slide show.

He thought about how tender she had been and how, in the end, she had become determined and ruthless. The way she had looked at him with pure hatred when he slapped her – her eyes burning with intensity – was forever etched in his memory.

All these thoughts about Alice made him realize something: the woman who had once adored him was no longer his. She had completely transformed into someone else.

Even after exhaling the last puff of smoke, Joshua still felt uneasy.

On impulse, he took out his phone and transferred a large sum of money to Alice.

The message accompanying the transfer read: “Think carefully about what I told you earlier.”

Joshua couldn't forget all the years they had spent together. He couldn't accept it.

Moments later, just as he was about to light another cigarette, his phone buzzed with a reply from Alicia.

I opened it quickly, full of anticipation.

«I took a screenshot and sent it to Lilliana.»

The money was immediately returned to his account, down to the last cent.
