Chapter 19
Considering the maid's testimony and Sandra's hesitation just now, Matilda weighed the pros and cons and came to a decision. She turned to Noelle and barked, "Noelle Swanson!"
She would have slapped Noelle right there if Hendrix weren't present. She continued berating Noelle, "Sandy is your younger sister, and we Swansons see her as our daughter! Who do you think you are? And what do you take the family as?"
Noelle did not reply. After looking at the tearful Sandra, she turned to Hendrix, who stared at her glumly. Of course, he was upset to learn about his wife making such crass comments about others. He must have hated for his childhood friend to be insulted in that way.
Noelle was most devastated by Hendrix's unconditional trust in Sandra. He believed Sandra had a good reason to lash out against others. However, he never cared enough to inquire about the reason behind Noelle's fight with Ruth at the mall-it simply wasn't worth his attention.
Hendrix would never defend her. All he would do was drag her to the Swanson residence, ordering her to apologize to Sandra,
Noelle let out a sudden laugh. Staring at Matilda, she confessed in a calm and clear voice, "Yes. I said that. I wasn't wrong, though."
Her remark threw everyone off their feet. Matilda was shaking from head to toe in anger.
Hendrix warned her, "Noelle."
Noelle fixed her eyes on Sandra. She stated, "Sandra is a bastard child you adopted. I know that she looks closer to your ideal daughter, but I'm sorry to tell you that I'm your flesh and blood. Even if you refuse to acknowledge me, that doesn't change the fact that I'm your daughter. I carry your DNA
in his eyes. "What
Noelle had wanted to go on, but Hendrix swiftly came up to her. He had an indifferent look in nonsense is that?"
"That's not nonsense." She was eerily calm and composed. "Am I wrong?"

"Apologize to your mom and Sandra," ordered Hendrix as he avoided commenting on her
"Why do I have to apologize?" She even questioned him, "And who are you to order me to apologize?"
"Noelle Swanson!" Hendrix clenched his jaw in a rare display of intense fury. He gripped her hand so tightly that it hurt, but more than anything, she was heartbroken.
Noelle had long known that no one at Coppersville would take her side. She might have returned to her biological family, but they did not truly welcome her. Hendrix was the same.
She laughed again and removed his hand. Then, she left decisively.
"Noelle Swanson!" Hendrix called out to her, but she did not look back or stop,
Noelle drove all the way back to the villa she shared with Hendrix. His car followed closely behind.
Hendrix showed up at the entrance to her bedroom just in time to see her taking out the divorce papers from the drawer.
She said to him, "Please sign."
His eyes skimmed through the large document header. The look in his eyes darkened. "What are you doing?"
"Do you not know how to read?" She chuckled softly. "Shall I read it aloud to you?"
Hendrix did not answer, and Noelle stopped smiling. She shoved the papers into his hand. "Hendrix Freeman, let's get a divorce."
