Chapter 346
Chapter 346
“We’re all here to discuss serious matters, and having outsiders around makes it hard to speak openly,”
Farrell clicked his tongue a few times and took a small sip of tea, “If there’s no sincerity, there’s no need to force it. Although I came today out of respect for Rose, my time is very precious,” he said, tapping the luxury watch on his wrist. Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
Rose gave a hesitant smile, “Farrell, don’t misunderstand. Madeline isn’t insincere. It’s just that this gentleman is her brother… her real brother. So, he’s not exactly an outsider.”
Lucas’s brow furrowed into a deep line. He didn’t know these people, but seeing their sleazy expressions, he, being a man, understood exactly what they were thinking.
“Madeline, let’s go, Lucas said, reaching out to take Madeline’s arm, but Chloe blocked him.
“What do you mean?” Chloe tilted her head slightly. “This dinner is for Madeline, don’t you understand? It’s a huge opportunity, one that not everyone gets. If you take her away now, can you still provide her with such amazing opportunities in the future?” “We all know Madeline’s talent. Let’s not waste any more time. She just needs this one big break.”
Lucas pressed his lips together, breathing heavily, “What are you really planning? Don’t think I can’t see through it.” “Madeline, come with me!”
Lucas stubbornly grabbed Madeline’s arm, “Listen to me, we’ll get our chance sooner or later. These people don’t seem trustworthy, don’t be fooled by them.”
Rose didn’t say much, she just looked at Madeline. “Madeline, why don’t you search online for the new series Farrell is working on? Check it out… isn’t it a big project? I’m not lying to you, but ultimately, the decision is yours.” “We’re just here to have a simple meal and get to know each other. Is that really too much in the entertainment industry? It’s not good to be too distant or arrogant.
Rose chuckled a bit, “Lucas, do you actually think I went to all this trouble just to deceive her?”
Rose pulled out a chair and sat down.
She poured herself a glass of water and said, “The food can be served now.”
The waiter quickly brought out a table full of gourmet dishes, which looked incredibly delicious. Under the light, the food appeared even more tempting, with mouth–watering aromas filling the air.
Rose didn’t wait for them and picked up her fork right away. “Directors, don’t wait any longer; start eating! I’m going to make a guest appearance in Farrell’s new show. If it hadn’t been for him back then, I wouldn’t have gotten my chance to shine.”
Farrell clinked glasses with Rose, laughing, “Yeah, back then, so many people wanted to be in my show. I’ve been refining my skills abroad these past few years, or else these new faces wouldn’t be around. Making someone famous is too easy for me.”
Chloe listened and sneaked a glance at Madeline. ‘As a rookie, it’s hard not to be tempted by such influential people. Could Madeline really turn down Farrell’s offer?‘
Chloe swirled her glass thoughtfully. If Madeline decided to stay for dinner, they planned to drug her. What happened here could very well be tomorrow’s entertainment headlines.
Chloe felt a thrill of excitement as she thought, ‘Madeline pretending to be so pure and untouchable. Wouldn’t a strong dose knock her off balance and make her lose her composure?‘
Chloe smirked, lowering her gaze slightly, making sure Madeline couldn’t see her expression.
“Madeline, Lucas said as he sat down next to her and gave her sleeve a gentle tug. “Come with me for a bit.”
Madeline glanced at Lucas from the corner of her eye and followed him out.
The hallway was quiet, with barely anyone around.
Madeline crossed her arms, leaning against the corner of the hallway. “Alright, what’s going on?”
“Can’t you tell? Something’s off about these people. I just looked up this director, Farrell. Do you know why he was out of the industry for two years?” Lucas asked urgently. “He was sued for harassing actresses on set. He got blacklisted for two years and

now he’s back.”

“Hanging out with people like that is just asking for trouble,” Lucas insisted. He especially wanted to mention the two women, who clearly didn’t seem trustworthy at all.
Madeline chuckled, “Do you really think I’m blind? There’s not a single decent person among them. But since Rose and Chloe went to so much trouble to set this up for me, why would I run?”
A teasing glint flickered in Madeline’s eyes, “Why not just go with the flow?”
“Huh? What do you mean?” Lucas scratched his head, “Are you planning to…”
“Just watch,” Madeline said as she turned back to the lounge. Her attitude improved a lot as she sat down and chatted with
everyone.
Farrell had a fondness for newcomers in the entertainment industry. Snowy was a naive beauty, untouched by the worldly ways, with innocence, vitality, and a bit of stubborn foolishness–thinking she could reach the top through her own efforts.
He took pleasure in having these types of girls under his control. Although they usually had strong mental fortitude, after going through his games repeatedly, they would eventually lose hope, and their eyes would become empty with numbness. Farrell loved to destroy a shy and timid flower.
“Madeline, right? You have great potential, and this role is perfect for you. Just join my production, and I guarantee you’ll become a sensation overnight.” Farrell pointed to Rose. “Look at Rose; she’s incredibly popular now. No matter where she goes, people praise her, she has limitless opportunities, and scripts are always available to her. That’s what fame is. The entertainment industry is harsh, and for an unknown actress, breaking through is really tough. But I like working with newcomers, so meeting me is your lucky break.”
“That’s wonderful,” Madeline raised her glass. “Thank you, Farrell, for the opportunity. Maybe we can have a private conversation.”
Farrell almost laughed out loud, “Alright, alright, as long as you get it.”
“I should thank you two as well,” Madeline said, holding the bottle as she poured more wine for Chloe and Rose. “You’ve both given me such a generous gift. I never expected you to be so kind; what a surprise…”
While pouring the wine, Madeline let a faint powder from under her fingernails slip into their glasses. The particles were so tiny that they went unnoticed. After all, at this table, Madeline seemed like the innocent one. Who would have thought this supposedly innocent girl had sharp fangs hidden?
“Once I hit it big, I’ll definitely return the favor.”
Chloe couldn’t help but burst into laughter at such silly talk. Getting famous? Dream on! Today, she’s going to face public disgrace. After causing her so much trouble, she’s definitely not someone who repays evil with good!
