Chapter four
I stared outside my window as the day grew darker, tears streaming down my face. I had chosen to lock myself away, refusing to partake in the ceremony, regardless of the consequences that awaited me for defying the Alpha’s authority.
It is better to serve the punishment than to witness my mate mark another who is no other than my best friend……… Everything still feels like a movie to me, too heartbroken to be real.
Everyone in the pack is excited about the so-called ceremony. I wonder if I am the only one who doesn’t find it interesting anymore_ maybe because I am the one who is supposed to be in the picture, not Ava but who could believe it, not even a maggot?
“Emma, come on,” my mom’s excited voice suddenly calls out, her knock snapping me out of my reverie state. “Emma, are you in there?” Her old voice echoes behind the door, she continues banging her hand on the door despite the dead silence from my side.
“The party has started but you were nowhere to be seen,” I ignored her and continued looking away, driven deep into my own painful thoughts.
But then again, despite the silent response from my side she never backed down. “Come on, baby!….. You didn’t tell me the good news,” she exclaimed, her excitement conspicuous.
“Vincenzo Salvatore is Ava’s mate and he’ll be marking her today.” Her words felt like a silver blade piercing through my soul, like a sharp reminder to my pains. Reopening my wounds once again.
“Ava said she hasn’t seen you since this morning after she left your room…… Wait! Are you sleeping? Come on, let’s go. I bet you’ll be speechless when you see her. She looks like a hot damn Luna,” she giggled behind the door but I clutched my clothes, silently weeping. “The title really suits her, come on, Emma, you should go see her,” she blurted, sounding disappointed at the end.
However, she furiously banged her fists against the door again. “I know you’re in there, Emma,” she blurted out, now sounding frustrated.
“Today is Ava’s day and as a good friend, you’re supposed to be there to cheer her up.” Tears welled up in my eyes at her words… Friend, she said.
“Emma!!” she screamed, “Open this damn door!” I ignored her, my hand covering my mouth as I sobbed uncontrollably. If only she knew… If only she knew!
“Suit yourself, I am going to see if I can be of help there,” she finally gave up and walked away. I slid down the wall, sobbing hard until I fell asleep.
Tick. Tick!
I woke up to the sound of loud music blasting in the background. Slowly getting up from the cold tiles, I stretched my arms and rubbed my eyes, trying to shake off the grogginess.
“How long have I been sleeping?” “Or have I died from the pain?” I rubbed my eyes, looking around, I noticed that I was still locked up in my room. I sighed and leaned my head back against the wall.
I can hear music from outside of my window, showing that the moonlight ceremony has just started. Having stayed locked up for hours, I was bored in there with nothing to do……. My stomach decided to grumble at that very moment, I sighed and stared out. At least now everyone is at the ceremonial ground. I can easily go downstairs and grab some food up here without them noticing how pathetic I look right now.
I quickly stood up, pulling my wobbly legs toward the door, I opened it and started trudging down. My legs seem weak but luckily for me, no single soul can be seen in the passage. I went straight to the kitchen in the pack house to see if I could find anything…… I was so hungry that I didn’t mind stealing at this moment as no one could see me.
As I walked through the kitchen, my eyes scanned the empty shelves, finding nothing but bread and a chilled soda drink. I grabbed them, planning to make a quick exit, when suddenly, a shadow darted past me. It was as if a flash of darkness had zoomed by. Moving with incredible speed and force, leaving me startled and terrified.
I instantly turned around with a swift of finger but couldn’t see anything and just then I heard a cry of someone in pain outside. I hurried toward the window, pulling the blend up a bit. I peeped outside and suddenly it felt like a bag of ice was downed on me.
Dead bodies were littered around the place, the corpses of our warriors lying helplessly on the ground filled with blood. Some heads were shoved off, claws scratched on their faces and bodies, and blood sprinkled out of their bodies. Their hearts separated from their bodies, it was a terrifying sight to behold……. VAMPIRES!!!
The bread and soda slowly fall from my hand, those creatures are back again after the intense war that happened years ago even before my great-grandparents were born. Nobody doesn’t know about the deep enmity between the werewolves and the vampires!
/Fuck/
I trembled inside, the ceremony was still ongoing and nobody knew that the enemy had invaded the pack, my mom……. My father! How do I get to them? Mind linking the whole pack is not impossible since I am an omega and my mind link isn’t that strong to get across the whole pack members but maybe my father. “Dad! We have been invaded….. The enemies! They are here,” I suddenly sent a quick message to my father.
I quickly sent the message before I turned around, and started running back toward my room when I instantly heard the kitchen window break open and the blend tore into pieces in one go. No…… no!!! I screamed mentally in fear and was about to hurry out of the kitchen when I felt a hand roughly pull me back.
“Ah……. No!!”This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
I screamed hard and instantly looked up with fear to see the cold scary green eyes looking down on me, his canines long ready to penetrate into my neck when suddenly I felt him lie dead shot in the ground, his blood splashing on my face. “Emma….” A familiar concerned voice called out my name in that traumatizing moment.
“Dad,” I screamed out, my father dropped the gun and rushed toward me hugging me tight. “Are you alright? Did they hurt you?” He asked, hugging tight like a precious gem.
But then it was as if something clicked in my mind at that moment, causing me to suddenly pull away from my father. Breaking the amazing hug, his brow wrinkled at my sudden change of action. But I was quick to ask, ignoring his concerned voice. “Did you inform anyone about those beasts?”
I looked up at his face to notice how his face suddenly turned pale. He cleared his throat and gave me a blank expression. His silence shows that he didn’t tell anyone, “Dad, why…….?” I gently hit his chest in pain, screaming in disbelief.
“Your voice sounded like you were in pain so I was engulfed in fear that I didn’t even remember telling the Alpha………” he held my hands, stopping me from the hits. I cried out, and he slowly pulled me toward his chest and hugged me again.
“Dad,” I quietly whimpered, tears sliding down my face.
“I told one of the warriors in there to inform the Alpha, and thank God I came because you could have been dead,” he said and patted my back to calm me down. I cried and hugged him back knowing fully well that it was a lie. I know that he came immediately after I left that message without telling anybody because he thought I was in danger and of course, I could have been dead if not because of his intruder.
However, we were both holding each other tight, forgetting that those creatures were still lurking around the pack when suddenly I felt my father yanked forcefully out of my hold.
“Father……..!” I gasped, dread washing all over me.
The vampire was already holding my father by the neck around his carotid artery. No!!!!! my whole body was shaking vigorously in fear knowing what was next.
