The Luna's Hidden Destiny

I walked down the hallway towards the room Ian was now guiding me to. He looked pale and almost nervous, like whatever was about to happen was making him feel uneasy. Laura made sure to cover my whole body and lift the hood over my head so only my face was visible…it felt weird but I guess it was bad luck for the Alpha to see the Luna’s dress before the ceremony and we needed all the good luck we could get..

Once we got to the door, Ian hesitated for a moment and I quickly placed my hand on his arm.

“Ian, please, what is it?” I whispered but before he could speak, the door opened and what I saw inside shocked me completely.

Chloe was sitting in a chair in the tiniest white dress I had ever seen in my life and her hands were tied behind her back. She looked as if she had been crying and her makeup was running down her face. What was going on?

Rowan walked over to me, his eyes wandering down the length of my body like he had x-ray vision or something and I couldn’t help but feel embarrassed.

“Your mom told me to wear this.” I cleared my throat, trying to avoid his gaze as he smiled and took my hand.

“This won’t take long baby, I promise.” He quickly raised my hand to his mouth, brushing a gentle k**s against my knuckles before leading me toward Chloe.

“Is everything okay?” I managed to ask, seeing Tristan in the corner with his arms crossed. Dang, he looked intimidating. As soon as he met my gaze he smiled softly though and I saw that warmth in his eyes that he always showed me. I was glad my Alpha had a strong protector like Tristan around him.

“Well baby, it seems Chloe here was trying to ruin our day.” He said quickly, glancing towards Chloe who scoffed and was now staring at Ian.

“Ruin our day how?” I asked, confused by what was going on right now.

“She was going to bring these to you..to try and get you to leave me so she could be Luna. Isn’t that right Chloe?” He asked firmly, showing me the papers that made my heart drop..honestly..if she would have showed me these it would have crushed me, but with Rowan here I know for sure it was all some elaborate plan of hers..there is no way he would have sent these to her..and her being pregnant?! The mere idea caused a low possessive growl to leave me.

I stepped forward, looking down at Chloe as she winced from my presence.

“Is that true?” I asked cooly, trying to calm Calypso down as I looked at this woman who I had only met one freaking time since being here. How could she dislike me so much? Obviously, she was more obsessed with Rowan than I realized.

She continued to glare at Ian, unwilling to meet my gaze as she spoke.

“Yes…it’s true..” she gritted through her teeth..anger coursing through her veins as I looked at this hateful bitter woman…why was she so angry?

“Why?” I had to know her reasoning…just because she wanted to be Luna? Was she in love with Rowan? Was it all just for her ego? What was her reasoning to go this far and try to break us up..to mess with fate and destroy two people’s destinies.

Finally, she met my gaze, and boy was she pissed…I had never seen someone with so much hatred inside of them…I could almost feel it. Like it was the only thing keeping her going, that if she stopped she would crumble instantly.

“Why?! You ask me why?! Because you took EVERYTHING from me…not only my rightful place as Luna but my mate as well!!!” She spat at me, causing Rowan to tense as he was close to lunging at her. I placed my hand in his, trying to calm him as I looked at Chloe with confusion.

“Your mate?” What was she talking about..clearly Rowan was my mate…unless..Glancing towards Ian I suddenly realized why he was nervous..the way his eyes looked like he was suffering from seeing Chloe in that chair..and the way I could sense his sadness somehow..could they be..were they mates?

Ian must have realized I was staring because he quickly looked away from Chloe and straightened his back.

‘Are Ian and Chloe mates?’

I quickly linked Rowan..he would know more than anyone.

He nodded his head tightly before responding.

‘He rejected her not too long ago, she wouldn’t give up the crazy Luna shit.’

He informed me quickly, smiling at me sheepishly as I narrowed my eyes at him. Why didn’t he tell me? Well..no use in getting mad about that now.

I glanced back toward Chloe and began studying her once more. After seeing that anger, I felt like I was diving past it, seeing the hurt and how she had used it to fuel her obsession. Sadly, I don’t think Chloe would ever see the wrong she has done. Something inside of me just knew she would never give this up if we just slapped her on the wrist and gave her a warning.

I glanced toward Ian and saw the guilt he felt..he still cared for her even though she obviously has hurt him more than we would probably ever know. I had a feeling he needed her as far away from him as we do. Ian deserves happiness and with her around, he will never get that.

‘What are you going to do with her?’

I linked to Rowan, not even really knowing what the rules were for this type of situation.

‘I am leaving that up to you baby, what do you want to do?’

He squeezed my hand, looking into my eyes as I bit my l*p nervously.

‘What are my options?’

I asked quickly, knowing deep down this needs to be handled now. The fact that Rowan was letting me decide was his way of making a statement, that I am in fact his Luna and no one would get between us..especially a jealous ex who couldn’t let go…the fact that she had a mate as well and took it for granted didn’t sit well with me at all.

‘Well, we could lock her up for a few months, we could put her on house arrest and have her monitored, there is also banishment and then death.’

He linked nonchalantly..I couldn’t imagine taking her life for this.. surely it wasn’t enough to kill her..but the look in Rowan’s eyes told me he wouldn’t mind that option…

‘What does banishment entail?’

I linked to him as I watched Chloe glare at Ian intently, obviously linking him horrible things as she mentally berated him in private.

‘We would kick her out of the pack and make it so she couldn’t return.’

Rowan said cooly and I looked into his eyes, nodding my head.

‘I think that’s what we should do, for the safety of the pack.’

I whispered, knowing this is the best option for everyone..I don’t know why but a part of me wanted to not only get her as far away from Rowan as possible but also from Ian…I wanted to protect my friend and give him the freedom he needed from this horrible person.novelbin

“My Luna has made up her mind..and honestly Chloe, I believe she has been almost too kind and lenient with you. I was rooting for the death sentence personally.” Rowan smirked looking at Chloe’s shocked face as he pulled me into his side.

“Chloe Humphreys, from this moment on, you are hereby banished from Black Stone, you may never return again after today and if you do, your actions will be punishable by death.”

Rowan ordered, causing Chloe to cry out as Ian visibly flinched beside us. I couldn’t help but look toward him and hear a long deep sigh leaving his mouth. I wished it didn’t have to end up like this for him.

“You can’t do this!! Don’t you realize you have just broken your alliance with Mountain Ridge Pack? My father won’t allow this…I come from Beta b***d and yet you choose this rogue over me?!” She began to laugh hysterically, her eyes wide as the venom she spoke continued to spill from her mouth. She obviously didn’t hear the news about my real family.

Glancing over I saw Bain was clawing his way out..he has had enough. I quickly pressed my hand up to his chest, stopping him as I spoke.

“Baby, let me, please.” That was all I needed to say and Rowan quickly ran his hands through his hair and nodded tightly.

He gripped my hand once more, our fingers intertwined as I stepped forward looking Chloe in those eyes full of pure rage.

“Chloe, you have strayed so far from the truth, that you have even come to believe it yourself. Rowan was never yours..he was never going to be yours because he was made just for me and I was made for him…this bond we share…it was destined from the beginning and you too had something so similar..something that could have been amazing..” I spoke softly, not wanting to give her the satisfaction of getting angry about this…and honestly…I just felt sad. Sad for Ian and the poor choice of a mate fate had given him.

“You had your mate, the person who was made for you and yet you chose to pursue something else..you chose to ignore fate and try to make your own destiny. In the end, not only did you hurt a good man, but now you yourself will be suffering..much, much longer than he..because while you live in this bitter world of resentment, he will one day find someone worthy of his love..Sadly, you will never because I can see deep down, you aren’t capable of loving anyone but yourself.” I looked at this woman before me, maybe this will be her wake-up call, maybe she is capable of change but if she continues down this path…she will only know darkness.

I looked towards Ian, smiling sadly at him as Rowan pulled me closer to his chest.

“Come baby, we better go before my mother kills me.” Rowan whispered into my ear, dragging me away from a stone-faced Chloe as I heard Ian speak to her one last time.

“Goodbye Chloe, I do hope you take the Luna’s words to heart..because sadly, I too believe she has been very lenient with you. If you ever step foot in Black Stone again, I hope I will be the one to personally hunt you down.” And with that, he turned and followed us out the door.

As soon as the door closed, we heard the sobs and shouts of a woman full of delusions..lets hope she takes what happened to heart and tries to better herself…But I must admit, it’s hard not to feel a little victory in knowing my mate will always choose me. No one in this world would ever get between me and Rowan..and if Chloe ever tried again..next time I won’t be so forgiving.
