Chapter 227
Matthew continued driving and casually asked, "Don't you trust me?"
Rachel was taken aback for a moment. Then, she shook her head. "It's not that I don't trust you. When I was in a daze, I thought I saw you and Sheldon fighting, and you took him out in one move. "But I could be imagining things. You're a doctor, so there's no way you can fight so well."
Matthew didn't want to get himself involved, especially with something like murder. He had to keep it a secret, even for Rachel. So, he just focused on driving back.
In the back seat, Tracy had already opened her eyes. A look of surprise crossed her face when she heard Rachel. Tracy was convinced Rachel wasn't seeing things, and Rachel must have witnessed it. Tracy had seen Matthew in action before, and he was pretty impressive. But she didn't expect him to be even stronger than she thought.
The more Tracy got to know Matthew, the more mysterious he seemed as if he had plenty of secrets.
At first glance, Matthew seemed like an ordinary guy. But the more Tracy got to know him, the more she realized he was a hidden gem who never failed to amaze her.
As the car zoomed down the road, everything went quiet for a while.
Rachel sat with her arms crossed, glancing at Matthew every now and then. It was crazy to think that she had maintained her chastity for so long, only to lose it just like that.
She couldn't shake the feeling of being taken advantage of, especially with Matthew acting like nothing had happened. It only fueled her anger more, and she muttered, "Pervert." Matthew was focusing on driving. Upon hearing that, he asked, "Are you talking about me?"
Rachel snorted coldly. Feeling upset, she gazed out the window.
Matthew chuckled and said, "You're the one who acted like a pervert today. You jumped on me when I was driving without a care in the world. Even when I yelled for help, you didn't let me go."
Upon hearing Matthew's words, Rachel remembered what had happened earlier and realized she had lunged at him. The thought made her blush, and she quickly turned to look out the window. In the back seat, Tracy's face was red. "Is that something I should be hearing?" she thought.
The conversation was getting to her. Recalling the scene in the valley earlier made her feel like burning up.
Eventually the car pulled up in front
of a villa. Matthew got out of the car and opened the passenger door. Seeing that Rachel's clothes were in tatters, he took off his shirt and handed it over. en
"Put this on and go home."
Rachel took the shirt and saw Matthew staring at her. She rolled her eyes and closed the car door before slipping into his shirt. Then, she pushed open the car door and stepped out. The moment her foot hit the ground, she groaned in pain.
Upon seeing this, Matthew reached out to support Rachel and worriedly asked, "What's wrong?"
When Matthew's warm hand touched Rachel's waist, she shuddered and glared at him. "You've got some nerve asking."
After saying that, she smacked his
hand away and slowly made her way home. Halfway through, Rachel suddenly thought of Tracy in the bat and turned to shout, "Take Tracy back home for me."
Matthew hummed in acknowledgment. After watching Rachel go inside, he turned and got into the car.
A yawn came from inside the car. Tracy acted as if she had just woken up and stretched.
"Where am I?"
Matthew had no idea where to drop Tracy off. Seeing that she was awake, he flashed her a smile and asked, "Where do you live? I'll take you home." Tracy felt that she should keep up the act. "What happened? I remember someone dragging Rachel and I into the car. How did I end up here?"
Matthew then remembered that she
had been unconscious the whole time. "Here's what happened. I got a message to bring money for a ransom. After I went there and paid them, I was able to get Rachet and you back. That's pretty much the gist of it." novelbin
"I see," Tracy replied. She was amused by how Matthew fabricated the story. She never realized before how easily a guy could lie without flinching.
On a whim, Tracy decided to tease Matthew. "When I had passed out, I felt the car shaking a bit. What was going on?"
Upon hearing Tracy's question, Matthew felt embarrassed. "It could have been a bumpy stretch of the road. I was probably driving too fast."
