Chapter 60
Chapter 60
Parker took Meredith to an apartment that no one lived in and then gave her a key.
"Now that the video is everywhere, you should not go outside and you make a phone call to your family.
This apartment is empty and there are not many people around. The paparazzi couldn't find this place.
You can stay here for now."
Meredith was a little embarrassed at first, but after thinking about it, she realized that it would be even
worse for her if she were outside and was found by the paparazzi.
As for her family, she believed that those people of the Xaviers would not be willing to get involved in
such trouble. As for the Masons... They were to blame for all of it and they even wished she could die
outside.
"Thank you. I don't know how to express my gratitude, but if you need my help in the future, I will not
hesitate to be there for you."
Meredith looked at Parker gratefully and said earnestly.
However, what she said made Parker pull a wry face. She said it as if she wanted to be his sworn
brother, but he brought her back not for her to treat him as her good buddy.
"Really? Then give me a kiss as a reward." Parker teased Meredith with a smile.
Meredith was startled and goggled at Parker. She couldn't believe what she had heard and
unconsciously took a step back.
Seeing her reaction, Parker could only shake his head, "It was a joke. Don't be too nervous."
Meredith nodded, but she was still a little defensive until Parker raised his hands, "Sorry, I was just
talking nonsense. I've got a big mouth, but I don't have the guts."
Seeing his bitter face, Meredith couldn't help but smile. Then she thought of something, and said shyly,
"I... I want to take a shower first."
Just now Meredith didn't feel uncomfortable, but at this moment she felt disgusted at the thought of
being touched by those lousy people today.
Especially when she thought of that creepy middle-aged man touching her clothes with his greasy
hands, she felt so disgusted.
"You can take a shower first. I'll go to the other room to check the video. By the way, give me your
phone. I'll take care of the phone calls for you."
Parker nodded, telling that Meredith could take the shower. Then he took her phone, set it to the mode
that would only accept calls and text messages from contacts. Soon, the phone, which had been
vibrating all the time, quieted down.
Then, he opened the post again and began to check the comments carefully, trying to find some clues.
All of a sudden, Meredith's cell phone rang.
Parker wanted to give the phone to her. But it was inconvenient for Meredith to answer the phone since
she was in the shower. So he just left it there, but the caller was very persistent and kept calling.
Finally, he could only pick it up and tried to explain it to the caller. Content © provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
"Hello?" Parker's voice came from the receiver. Derek's face darkened immediately.
He had just called the Xaviers to let them know he was fine when his grandfather asked him to stay
abroad for a few more days, but he refused to tell him what had happened.
Derek subconsciously thought that it might have something to do with Meredith, so he called her. But
he did not expect that the person who answered the phone was not her, but a man instead.
Why would her cell phone held by a man?
"Who is that?" Derek said coldly in an unkind tone.
"This is a friend of Meredith's. It's not convenient for her to answer the phone right now." Parker was a
little embarrassed, trying to avoid the caller from misunderstanding him.
His voice was somewhat familiar, but Parker could not remember who it was for a moment.
"I'm looking for Meredith. Put her on the phone."
Just as Derek was holding his anger, suddenly a scream of a woman came from the receiver. As for the
voice which he would not have misheard, it was Meredith's voice.
"What's wrong?" Parker heard the noise and hurriedly ran over, ignoring the phone call.
"The light in the bathroom just went out."
Meredith's frightened voice came from the bathroom, and at the same time, Parker heard the rustling
sound of her wearing clothes.
When Derek heard her, his handsome face immediately turned as black as the bottom of a pot. The
word "bathroom" and the faint sound of water that he had just heard all explained one thing... Meredith
was with a man, and she was taking a shower.
"Damn it." Derek hung up the phone quickly and glanced at Chloe, who was shopping nearby. All of a
sudden, he lost interest completely.
All he wanted to do now was to go back to the J City and find this bold woman and let her know how
she should behave as his wife.
Chloe bought a pair of couple rings in the store and was about to let Derek wear it later in the name of
betting. However, when she returned to the place where he was just now, he had already gone.
Just as she was about to look for him, Derek sent a text message, "I'm sorry, there's something urgent
back home. I have to go back immediately."
Chloe's smile froze on her face, and she threw out the rings in her hand, then sat on the bench, almost
crying out of grievance.
Derek would never have done this to her in the past. He loved her so much that no matter what
happened, it was not as important as her. But now everything had changed.
The huge gap between her memory and the reality made Chloe feel extremely unbalanced. It took her
a long time to calm down. She did not believe that their long-term relationship was so weak. She must
let Derek fall in love with her again.
...
Meredith came out embarrassedly in her bathrobe.
Her face was red from the steaming heat, and she was much cuter than usual. Her hair was still wet,
and the drops of water fell down from the ends of her hair and slid down along her fine collarbone into
the slightly larger clothes.
Parker only glanced at her and quickly moved his eyes away. Sometimes, this kind of unconscious
move attracted people more than a deliberate temptation.
"The circuits must have been aged since the apartment has been empty for a long time. Sorry, I forgot
how long it had been since the apartment was properly checked, but I'll get someone to fix it later."
Meredith grunted and pulled her bathrobe, feeling a little uncomfortable, "I need another suit of
clothes."
Her clothes were dirty and it was too dark just now, so Meredith could only wear the bathrobe inside
first. However, it was obviously not the right size for a woman. She had to tie the belt to the tightest so
that her collar wouldn't suddenly be wide open.
Parker nodded quickly and went out to make a phone call. On the balcony, he looked through the glass
at how embarrassed Meredith was and felt a little parched and attracted.
Therefore, he told his assistant to prepare a few conservative suits of clothes immediately so that
Meredith wouldn't be walking in front of him like this, which was also a great test of his willpower.
"I've already sent someone to do it." Parker came back from the phone call and saw Meredith staring at
the post in a daze, "You said that the video in the post is not real. I just watched it. The person who
made it was very cautious, and I could find nothing for now."
When Meredith heard this, she was a little disappointed and looked at the video again which only
lasted for a minute but influenced her greatly.
As she watched, she suddenly pressed the pause button, "Wait, here..."
