The Contracted Ever After (Cordelia and Ronan)

Chapter 50

Chapter 50

After returning to the ward, Cordelia started discussing patient care matters with Trina.

Just then, Barney sent Cordelia a message on Messenger, asking about her mom's condition.

Cordelia was touched. Barney was a highly educated gentleman.

She voice replied to Barney, "Barney, my mom's good, no need to worry."

"Cordelia, who are you talking to?" Adrian asked.

"None of your beeswax."

Adrian guessed she was probably talking to Ronan's grandpa.

Seemed like Cordelia and Barney were close.

A wicked idea popped into Adrian's head.

"Adrian, is your mom okay?" Jamie called out to Adrian from the doorway.

"She's fine. You heading out?"

"Yes."

Adrian took one last look at Cordelia. Judging from Jamie's demeanor just now, he had a hunch

something was off between them.

Adrian was bothered. He thought Cordelia was too stubborn and he needed to use a tougher approach.

Cordelia checked her watch. It was almost four. She exchanged a few more words with Trina before

leaving.

Deanna was still busy shooting.

Cordelia didn't pay it much attention.

But what she didn't know was that Deanna had seen her talking to Jamie in the corridor earlier.

Downstairs, Cordelia sent Ronan a message. Ronan immediately called back, saying hurriedly "I'll be

there in five minutes", then hung up.

Once in the car, Ronan was on the phone discussing work matters like how to tender for a plot of land

in the south, the estimated price, how many houses to build, etc. He also planned to build another high-

end mall.

Cordelia was bored so she started scrolling through her phone. She felt sleepy and dozed off in the car.

It wasn't until they were almost home that Ronan finished his call.

"Did you fall asleep?" He asked.

Cordelia woke from her sleep and mumbled, "I had a nap."

"Where were you last night? You seem very tired." Ronan teased Cordelia.

Cordelia ignored him, turned over and went back to sleep.

During dinner, Barney kept asking about her mom's condition, what disease, how the treatment going,

any troubles. He was very concerned.

Cordelia thought Barney was a good man. Even though he had lung cancer, he still cared about others

so much. She was very moved, felt warm inside but also sad thinking Barney might pass away soon.

After dinner, Ronan went upstairs.

After a while, Cordelia, clutching her blanket, moved from her room to his.

Since Ronan started sleeping alone in this double bed, he always slept in the middle.

Seeing Cordelia, Ronan put down the book in his hand, looking at her with interest, "What's up?"

He was too cocky, completely disregarding how Cordelia felt standing there with her blanket.

"I want to sleep here." Cordelia looked down.

"Oh?" Ronan started laughing as if it was funny, "Did I hear it wrong? I thought you were used to

sleeping alone."

"I...am still not used to it. I feel a bit anxious. Can you move over a bit?" Cordelia said in a small voice.

Cordelia was still a little girl after all. She had explained to Ronan about the umbrella incident.

Although Ronan was discontent about the computer she donated, that was in the past, and her ex had

passed away. Even if he was unhappy, it wouldn't help.

He shifted over, making room for Cordelia.

Cordelia spread out her blanket, accidentally brushing against his warm arm. He was really hot. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.

In Ronan's room, the air conditioning was on high, so the temperature was rather cold.

Cordelia plucked up the courage and crawled into his blanket.

Ronan was getting annoyed with her.

But he was Ronan after all, and had some self-control despite Cordelia not seeing any reaction from

him.

"Thank you." Cordelia lay in his blanket, he was leaning against the headboard. Cordelia lifted her

head, her eyes sparkling, and spoke to him.

"For what?"

"Thank you for finding the best caregiver for my mom. I just found out today."

"So you came to sleep in my bed because of this?"

"Of course not."

Ronan couldn't help himself, he moved down and pressed himself against Cordelia, turning off the

bedside lamp in the process.

Cordelia's hands were on his chest, "Hold on."

"What's wrong?" Ronan was a bit impatient.

"Be gentle..."

"Wasn't I gentle before?"

"Well, you were really rough." Cordelia said sincerely. It always hurt her.

"Alright, I'll be gentler in the future."
