Chapter 2024
Alaric let out a sigh of relief. "Don't worry, you're beautiful no matter what."
He had thought it was something serious. It turned out she was fretting over not having makeup on, which scared him half to death. For a moment, he thought their plan to get their marriage license today was going to fall through.
"Makeup or no makeup, there's definitely a difference. We only get to take wedding photos once in our lifetime, and I can't do it bare-faced. That's just not right. No, you need to find a makeup salon. I'll get my makeup done before we head to the city hall."
Hertha was adamant.
Nothing worries a woman more than looking less than perfect in photos, especially on such an important day as her wedding.
Looking at his watch, Alaric noted it was just past ten. If the makeup artist was quick, they still had time.
"There's a beauty salon just up ahead. Let's go there," Alaric suggested.
Hertha remained silent.
Two minutes later, their car pulled up in front of a posh beauty salon. Hertha looked up at the luxurious facade and blinked, "Isn't this place a bit too extravagant?"
This salon was clearly catered to the wealthy, celebrities, or those used to a life of luxury.
She had never been to such a place before.
She was well aware of her financial limits, and splurging like this was not in her books.
"Don't worry, I've got you," Alaric said, taking her hand and leading her inside.
Hertha let herself be dragged along.
As they approached, the automatic glass doors sensed their presence and swung open, revealing a stylishly dressed man who greeted them warmly, "Welcome! How can we help you today?"
Upon recognizing Alaric, the man's smile widened, his enthusiasm noticeably increasing, "Alaric, it's been a while. What an honor to have you back." Hertha realized Alaric was a regular here, which explained his familiarity with the place.
With a glance towards Hertha, Alaric stated, "We need makeup for her and pick out a beautiful outfit. We're short on time, so make her stunning, fast." "You got it! Give me twenty minutes, and she'll be ready," the stylish man confidently assured.
"Miss, please follow me," he gestured for Hertha to come inside.
Just as Hertha was about to follow, a woman's voice called out from the entrance, "Danny, I'm here for your magic touch. I need a flawless makeup look today."
At the sound of her voice, Danny immediately halted.
Hertha stopped too and turned around to see a fashionably dressed woman making her way in, her frame slim to the point of being skeletal, exuding an air of arrogance that made her instantly recognizable as Georgia. All content is © N0velDrama.Org.
Running into her here was the last thing Hertha needed.
Her mood soured at the sight of Georgia.
"Georgia, welcome. I'll make sure your makeup is top-notch. But, you'll have to wait about twenty minutes Why don't you relax in the café area? It'll fly by," Danny said, trying to
smooth things over with a flattering tone.
Georgia gave Alaric a quick glance, then turned her gaze to Hertha, her tone dripping with disdain, "I'm a customer here. Making me wait? Isn't that a bit too much?"
Alaric was the man Georgia coveted, yet she could never win him over, a source of frustration and helplessness for her.
Seeing Hertha, her rival in love, infuriated her to the core.
