The Alpha's Mate Is A Spy

Chapter 15: The Oath Taking

Chapter 15: The Oath Taking

*VENUS's POV*

His body reacted so fast that I didn't see his elbow going straight to my chest.

My body shook in pain and I felt the tear-jerking pain in my ribs. Though it was a good thing that he

blasted away to the other end of the stage, it was ridiculous how he could still stand straight even after

being hit at a critical point.

He shifts back in human form.

I cursed under my breath, "I knew I should've hidden a knife..." This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

My knees bent all the way down as he swung his feet towards me, the air inside me crippled as I

struggled to study his movements. After numerous blows against each other, I huffed in exhaustion and

so did he.

"Shift!" He growls.

"Don't need to," I grinned as I realized what his tone meant. "Oh I see, is that why you shifted back??

There's no rule saying we both have to be in wolf form to fight, right?"

He growls even louder, this time angrier.

"You're dead meat!"

His big brown wolf surfaced once again, his fangs bared towards me, he took that chance to use his

body weight to overwhelm me. He even realized my movement pattern and almost caught me.

Fortunately, my reflexes were still a little bit faster than him.

I don't know how long our fight went on, but when I felt the exhaustion finally restrain my movements,

he quickly noticed it and fought even more complex than before.

My eyes widened as I almost got slashed by his claws. I managed to dodge down in time. As I gazed

on his menacing eyes, I sharpened my claws and used that moment to inflict damage on his insides, he

shifts back as he whimpers in pain.

"You're not getting me to shift." I smirked.

I won't shift since, if I do i'll have to remove the ring off my body- and if I do, we all know where that

leads too.

The thought of losing wasn't a choice for me. I've never failed at a mission before, so if it comes down

to desperate times like this, my recent ability to seduce would be the perfect counter-That at least, may

weaken him or something.

With his blood on my hands as the medium. I slowly enchanted a spell to connect his blood to his

system.

He flinched in surprise.

"Do you really want to hurt me like this?" I whispered, making my voice seductive and as discreet as it

can get.

His eyes darkened, the lust in the air surrounding both of us as his guard to defend himself all started

to crumble. He takes a step back, his hand on his temple.

"N..No.." He reluctantly replied as he catches his breath. "What did you do to me?"

I didn't want to prolong it enough that someone would notice from afar, so I took that golden chance to

lunge at him. I pierced my claws straight to his neck, making him unable to speak if he manages to live

after this.

He gags blood and quickly dies.

As expected, the panel wasn't pleased. After the match, there was complete silence, unlike the last two

matches where the panel clapped in enthusiasm to welcome their new fighter. Their expression was

either displease or shock- the only person different was Alpha Derek.

He was glaring at me with all his might.

Hmm? Did he notice?

"What? didn't you like how I killed your favorite competitor?" I smiled at the panel. "What a bummer,

looks like you have to just stick with me then."

~*~

There wasn't much to expect. Since we're talking about Cresent Moon Pack here, the welcoming

ceremony was conducted formally with only the Alpha, his subordinate, and the new members. We

stand in a line while he faced us with a grim expression.

He says, "Out of all thousandths participants, I congratulate you for making it this far. Throw away any

grievances, past and memories you had before. Today, you becpastsone of us! Today, you stand with

Crescent Moon Pack!"

This is it. The blood pact.

Alpha Derek takes his arm out and bites out a flesh, resulting in blood oozing out from the wound. He

pours it into three cups and whispers the Crescent Moon's classified oath to bind whoever drinks it to

the pack.

Because of Blood Pacts, it was almost impossible to infiltrate any pack as a spy. But because SunDale

had a unique ability to suppress any blood pact, it was easier for us to do the job.

But this time, I'm in trouble. It bothers me that this is Alpha Derek's Blood- my mate's blood we're

talking about!

I gulped.

One by one, they pledged to the oath. Since I was last in line, I was unexpectedly nervous. I dreaded

the moment that it would be my time to drink the chalice. Time goes by completely fast, as I noticed

that Alpha Derek was already in front of me. With the cup on his hand, he squinted his eyes in

suspicion towards me.

"Venus of SunDale, Do you pledge to leave all things behind, to dedicate your life to the pack, and

never to betray me?"

Thankfully, I wasn't that nervous enough that my heart rate would increase. Since if it does, Alpha

Derek might immediately suspect me. I knew he was trying to provoke me by observing me so I let out

a smile to annoy him.

With a calm hand, I took the cup. "I hereby pledge to leave all things behind, to dedicate my life to the

pack, and never to betray you."

Then I drank it all in one go.

My heart started to throbbed abnormally. It was unbearable and so painful to bear that I almost lost my

balance. The feeling of wanting to pounce at him overwhelmed me. What is happening? Is it because

he's my mate that he's blood is affecting me like this?

I suddenly remembered what Ryan said.

{"Mating with your mate start with marking the female. It's like a blood pact, but personally, and there

are no needed oaths to consider since mates are naturally bonded to each other."}

Don't tell me... he just marked me right now?

*DEREK's POV*

I don't understand.

After she drunk the cup that contained the blood pact, my arousal went through the roofs all of a

sudden. I could hear her heartbeat matching mine. And felt my manhood getting erect. I quickly fell on

my knees as I fought the feeling.

What the fuck is this? Am I seriously getting turned on with a blood pact?!

"Alpha Derek?!" Easton rushes to my side. "What's wrong?!"

I pushed him away and growled. It was too shameful if someone realizes what happened, so I had no

choice but to run away. I shifted to my big black wolf and sprinted away from the scene, but not before

telling Easton to finish the ritual.

Once I arrived at a nearby lake, I quickly threw myself in to relieve myself.

~*~

"Alpha," Easton calls out.

My head leaned to a stone within the lake. I opened my eyes to see Easton at the opposite side. I didn't

even realize that the sun had long set by now.

"What is it? did you finish everything I told you to do?"

"Yes, alpha. Sorry for interrupting you but when will you plan on choosing a beta among us? The elders

have been asking me as soon as the ritual ended. They said, you would choose a beta after the

ceremony."

Tsk.

Initially, I conducted the tournament so I can recruit talents and choose my beta among them, Easton

included. Like them, Easton didn't grow up from our pack, I just recently found him a rogue. So

favoritism isn't the issue here.

I frowned. "Who do you think suits the title?"

"Well, Noah would by my choice, but he's too arrogant. While Liam is lazy, JoJo is a bit of a coward and

Venus is... well she's headstrong. Based on the requirement, isn't Venus more capable in leading all of

us? She's a bit arrogant but not more than Noah's and she usually knows how far her limits go. She's

quick on decision-making and just has this aura around her that she can do well."

True, Venus does perfectly suit the title. But it's so strange that she's too perfect that it bothers me.

Even in that incident where I almost lost myself when we made a blood pact, I knew she was feeling

the same, yet she could handle it well, unlike me.

Tsk, I have to think about if choosing her would be the best decision.
