Taming His Heart

Chapter 8

Chapter 8

DANNY

I can’t believe Jordan went with me to go food shopping. This is so ridiculous. It wasn’t until we were done that I realized his plan. He offered to have some of the bags loaded in his truck. That way he could help me unload. Thus knowing where I live.

I groan the whole way back to my place. I guess this helps with the Courtney factor, he can go straight to her. It just irritates me that he is going to know where I live. He asked for a chance and I said I would be his friend, but I didn’t really want him to know where I live. That just leads to seeing him more often than I want to. I guess if he was really interested in me it would be different but he isn’t.

When we pull up to my apartment I can see that Kyle is waiting for me. He looks like he just came from the shower. “Hey, babe, did you have a nice visit?” He says pulling me into his arms. I can see the scowl on his face when Jordan pulls in after me.

“Be nice.” I tell him as he pulls me tighter.

“What is he doing here?” He is almost growling.

“He offered to help me with my groceries.”

“I would have done it.” He kisses my head.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

“I know, I didn’t really want help. I offered it as an off handed remark and he took it to heart.” I pull away so I can get the bags from my back seat. I am turned away from both guys but I can hear their exchange.

“Helping my girlfriend, Peters.” It sounds gruff and angry.

“Oh, I know how helpful you are.” His voice sounds full of contempt. “But guess what, she is my friend, so if I want to help her then I will.”

“You better not be trying to take what’s mine Peters.”

“Oh, you mean like you. No, I’m not that shallow. Actually you know what I am. Watch out Miller, I plan on making Danny mine. You and I both know I’ll treat her better.”

I pick up two bags and turn on them. “Well, now that we have measured our dicks, can we get the food put away? And stop talking like I’m not here.”

“Sorry,” They both mutter.

“Bags now.” I point my head towards the back seat. If they are both going to be annoying then they are going to help.

I carry the bags up to the apartment and my sister is sitting in the kitchen painting her nails on the counter. Her toe nails. So that means that her whole body is on the counter. “Courtney, that isn’t good for the counters.”

She just sneers at me. “Oh, look who grew a backbone.”

“I’m just saying. Our parents will have to pay for damages. I know we have a couple more years left, but still. They aren’t going to be happy.”

“Well, I’ll just tell them it was you.”

Kyle comes in after me. “No, you won’t because I will tell them it was you.” He sneers at her. He sets the bags on the counter in front of Courtney. “Besides, your ass needs to move so we can put the food away.”

“Why are you even here?” She glares at him.

“I am here to spend time with my girl. Why are you here?”

“I live here.” She yells.

“Never stopped you from being somewhere else.” Kyle turns and kisses my head. “I’ll get the rest of the bags. You put them away.”

As soon as he hits the door, Jordan comes in with his arm load. “Where do you want them?”

“Just set them anywhere. Thanks for helping Jordan.”

“No problem.” He sets them down on the floor. “I’ll get the rest.” He doesn’t even spare a glance at Courtney. I wonder if he thinks he can play hard to get with her, that she will play along.

“What universe did I just wake up in?” She groans and gets off the counter. “I swear you are a stain on my existence. Mom should have never given birth to you.”

“Yeah, well, take that up with her.”

Courtney just goes into her room. She has been really moody lately, I wonder what is up with her. It’s like flip floppy. But still her usual self. I think I am getting whiplash from the way she changes her moods.

I started putting the cleaning supplies on the counter, no sense putting them away when I will just need to get them out to use them. Starting on the food I move to the fridge. It takes me a minute to realize that Jordan and Kyle are taking their sweet ass time. I have almost all of the bags unloaded when they come back inside.

They are both glaring at each other and I think I see some dishevelment. “What the hell happened to you two?”

Neither answer, they just glare at each other. It looks like they have the last of the bags, so I think it is time for them both to leave. “Ok, so the bags are in, you two can go.” I hate being a bossy person, but I am pissed. It is just getting ridiculous. For crying out loud Kyle and I are only pretending to date, why is he getting all testy. And Jordan just wants Courtney.

I have turned around away from them and just held the counter to keep myself from lashing out at these guys. I just don’t understand what the hell is going on. I just want to go back to being invisible. I never thought I would say that in my life.

A pair of arms wrap around my body and I feel a kiss on the back of my head. “I’m sorry.”

“I’m just not sure this is going to work out. I am already greatly regretting it.” I whisper so that Jordan can’t hear me.

“Hey, don’t say that. It’s going to get better I promise.” He turns me around so that I am facing him. “Danny, I promise.”

“I am trying really hard to trust you right now.” Only when I look up into his eyes, I see this look of pleading. Is it really that important that he wins this bet?

He cups my face and pecks my lips. “I won’t let you down.” He pulls me in for a hug. “Stick it out with me Danny.”

“I’m not leaving yet.” I grumble.

He pulls back with a big smile on his face. He claps his hands and rubs them together. “Alright, where do we start?”
