Chapter 148 How Is My Business Any of Your Business?
Gwenda stopped and turned to look at him. "What's the matter?"
"What's with your attitude? Do I have to have something if I want to call out to you?"
Benson glared at her with a tight frown, his tone unfriendly. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
Gwenda rolled her eyes internally and said, "If there was nothing, why did you call me then?"
"You..."
"Oh, Benson, be nice."
Pauline stopped him and smiled at Gwenda. She said softly, "Gwenda, your dad doesn't mean that. He
just wants to know about what happened between you and your aunt."
"I'm talking to my dad, not you! How is this any of your business?"
Gwenda said with an unfriendly tone as she glared at her.
Benson was instantly enraged. He gritted his teeth and said, "You b*stard! Say that again!?"
"What, do you want to beat me during grandma's birthday party?"
Gwenda said coolly even as she gave him a cold look.
"You..."
Benson was boiling with rage. His chest heaved with the force of it.
"If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving now."
"You stop right there!"
Benson walked up to her and asked, "Why did you call the police when your aunt went to see you?"
"She made a scene in my studio. Isn't it normal for me to call the police?"
Gwenda retorted coldly.
"She's your aunt!!"
Benson spluttered with rage. "Now that you've kicked up such a fuss, the whole world knows that
you've done these degenerate things! Our family is disgraced because of you!"
"Oh, Dad, you're hilarious."
Gwenda sneered at him. She gazed at him steadily and continued coldly, "Speaking of disgrace,
shouldn't that be Aunt Arely instead? How does this have anything to do with me? Would I have called
the police if she hadn't caused a scene at my studio? Besides, even if I did, would anyone know if she
hadn't publicised it? She's the one at fault either way. Why are you yelling at me?"
"Oh, you're somehow the reasonable one here?"
Benson's eyes were wide with fury, and his face was red with anger.
"I'm only refuting your accusations precisely because I'm being reasonable. If you think that these
things have caused you disgrace, you should keep a handle on your sister as well as your wife. Make
sure that they keep their mouths shut so that such news won't be spread about."
"You..."
Benson lost all thought of rationality and forgot where he was as he immediately raised his hand to slap
her.
Gwenda instinctively dodged, but she did not expect someone to stand before her in the next second.
Looking up in astonishment, she saw August standing there, his hand gripping Benson's wrist tightly
with an aura of coldness about him.
"It's grandmother's 80th birthday today, uncle, and there are many guests in the hall. Are you trying to
embarrass grandmother by lecturing Gwenda now?"
"You..."
"Gwenda, grandmother's calling you. Go on."
August turned back to give her a look.
Understanding what he meant, Gwenda returned his stare and walked away.
Seeing that she had left, August let go of Benson's wrist and dusted his hands off, saying indifferently,
"Uncle, might I remind you that no matter how unruly Gwenda is, she's still doted on by grandmother? If
you want to lecture her, you ought to pick the right time."
"Oh, so even you dare to lecture me now?"
Benson's face darkened and his brows furrowed tightly.
August chuckled. "Not at all. I just want to remind you that Gwenda is not just an Evans, but a Reed as
well. So, she's not someone that you can just beat or shout at. In addition, I heard that Gwenda has
moved out. You know, having forced your own daughter out of the house, shouldn't you reflect upon
yourself as a father too?"
"You..."
"I have something else to attend to, so I shall not disturb you any longer. I do hope you eat more during
the feast later."
With that, August turned and left.
