Chapter 32 We’re a Family From Now On
“Hello? Mom!”
Mrs. Elder Jewell hung up before Amanda could finish her words.
Amanda dialed again, but her mom would answer the phone.
The car arrived at the entrance of Sean’s Villa.
As soon as Amanda got out of the car, she saw Mrs. Elder Sean and Mrs. Elder Jewell standing together. Mrs. Elder Jewell was as happy as ever, gesturing with hands and feet.
“Mom!”
Amanda ran over in a hurry.
“Amanda.” Mrs. Elder Jewell pulled her with a smile on her face. “Let’s go. I bought a watermelon and cut it when I get back.”
It seemed that her mother didn’t know anything.
“Mom, please don’t go. Come with me first.”
Amanda hurriedly pulled her away, but Mrs. Elder Sean would never let go of such a good opportunity to mock them. “Amanda, this is wrong of you. Your mother was so kind to you that she came to deliver watermelons on such a hot day. Why did you drive her away?”
“That is right. Amanda is usually busy with work and doesn’t care much about the family. As her mother, I should worry more about her if she can’t do it.”
“Are you just worried about sending a watermelon?”
Mrs. Elder Sean sneered and raised her chin. “How much do you want this time?”
Her words stabbed into Amanda’s heart.
She and Halley had been married for three years. Everything was perfect, but her mother was addicted to gambling. Now and then, she would ask for money. This was her biggest weakness. Because of this, she also suffered the sarcasm of Mrs. Elder Sean and Sherry.
Mrs. Elder Jewell coughed in embarrassment. “That’s not what I meant.”
“So what? Every time you came here, you would bring some trash and then make off with a sum of money.”
“Mrs. Elder Sean, what are you talking about? Doesn’t my daughter earn money for you?”
“Bullshit!” Mrs. Elder Sean pointed to Amanda’s nose and said, “Yes, she earned it by hooking up with her secret lover. Not only did she hook up with another man, but she also wants to take half of the Sean Family’s property!”
Mrs. Elder Jewell’s face darkened all of a sudden. Amanda hurried forward to persuade her. “Mom! Don’t make trouble. Come with me!”
“Why are we leaving?” Mrs. Elder Jewell pulled her back. “She scolded you so openly. What will the neighbors think of you if you don’t make it clear?”
“What neighbors? My son is going to divorce her!”
Mrs. Elder Sean said these words haughtily, which hit Mrs. Elder Jewell on the head like a bolt from the blue.
“What did you say? Divorce? That’s impossible!” Mrs. Elder Jewell’s face changed when she heard divorce. “Did you castrate them again?”
“What the fuck? Who doesn’t know that Amanda has hooked up with another man and is in the news? Is this the good daughter you’ve raised?”
Mrs. Elder Sean had always been harsh. Now that she deliberately raised her voice, it attracted the attention of passers-by. Many lived in the same community, and some even had business dealings with the Sean Group…
“Like mother, like daughter. Both of you are vixens.”
Mrs. Elder Sean’s words became harsher and harsher.
Amanda didn’t want to argue with her, but she was angry when she heard those words. “Mrs. Elder Sean, watch your mouth!”
“What’s wrong? Am I wrong? Your mother runs the Boardgame Club only to hook up with many older men. When I go out to entertain people, they even poke me in the back! It’s so shameful for the Sean Family to be related to someone like you!”
“Bullshit!” Mrs. Elder Jewell was so angry that her face turned red. With her blood surging, she rushed up, grabbed Mrs. Elder Sean, and was about to beat her. “I’ll tear your stinking mouth apart!”
Mrs. Elder Sean had never seen such a scene before. She was slapped in the face several times and kept screaming.
At this time, Sherry came out of nowhere and pushed her to the ground. “How dare you hit my mother!”
“Mom!” Amanda hurried over to support Mrs. Elder Jewell. Still, Mrs. Elder Jewell was so angry that she shook without saying a word. After a few seconds, her eyes rolled back, and she fainted in Amanda’s arms.
Seeing this, Sherry did not dare to step forward and shouted, “She was the one who attacked first! I was defending my mother! It has nothing to do with us!”
As she spoke, she pulled Mrs. Elder Sean away.
Amanda’s eyes were red, and she kept calling her mother, “Mom, wake up!”
There were more and more onlookers.
“Call an ambulance. It looks like a stroke.”
“That’s right. Take that lady to the hospital.”
Amanda hurriedly reached for her phone, but she couldn’t wipe away the screen no matter how hard she tried. Tears rolled down her cheeks, and her hands were trembling.
At this time, a black car stopped by the side of the road.
The chauffeur opened the door, revealing a stern face with sharp eyes.
The man stepped on the ground with a pair of bright leather shoes and strode toward Amanda. His suit was well-tailored, and the evening wind slightly blew the hem of his shirt. He was so graceful that he looked like a god.
“Iverson.”
With tears in her eyes, Amanda muttered a name.
Like before, Iverson reached out to her, blocking all the harsh comments with his broad back. “I’ll send you to the hospital.”
Amanda nodded desperately.
On the way to the hospital, Amanda tried to hold back her tears, but they kept falling uncontrollably.
“Don’t cry. It’s not that bad.”
Iverson’s palm was warm, and his usually cold voice was tinged with warmth.
In the HC Hospital.
The doctor took off his mask. “Your mother is fine.”
“She’s fine?” Amanda was stunned. “But she fainted.”Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
“Maybe she’s too emotional. It’s easy to become like this for the elderly. Her vital signs are normal. She should wake up after lying down for a while.”
Amanda said helplessly, “Are you sure it wasn’t a stroke?”
“No.”
A clear and firm voice came from the side. “Amanda, just follow the doctor.”
Amanda was stunned. Only then did she remember that Iverson was still by her side, waiting with her until now without leaving.
After the doctor left, Amanda thanked Iverson. “Thank you, Mr. Byran, for troubling you again today.”
“I just happened to be passing by. Besides, we will be a family in the future.”
A family?
Amanda almost choked again. She was not in the mood to talk to Iverson. When she heard her mother coughing in the ward behind her, she hurried into the room.
“Mom, are you awake?”
“Has the doctor gone?” Mrs. Elder Jewell had already sat up, and her face was glowing. She sized up the man behind Amanda and asked, “Who is this man?”
