The Invite
The Invite
CINDY'S forehead was in deep lines while waiting for Zoe, but it seemed like they were having a serious talk inside. She was about to place the refills when her phone inside her pocket vibrated. She frowned and got it off from her pocket. She arched her brow when she saw the caller. It was Calyx. “What?” she asked, a little boastful. “I’m across the street. We need to talk about something,” Calyx said, and after that, he ended the call, making Cindy feel rage. ‘What’s wrong with him?’ she thought. Feeling a little rage, in the end, she called Mr. Reynolds and told him that she needed to settle with an important thing for a moment, and after that, she would get back. Across the street? Soon as she stepped out of the café, she looked in the straight direction and saw Calyx Audi. She gritted her teeth and crossed the street. Cindy knocked on the window, and Calyx lowered it down. “Hop in,” he said. However, Cindy crossed her arms in front of her chest and arched her brow. “What do you need?” Calyx grinned. “Just get inside the car, babe,” he said. Cindy rolled her eyes and turned to the side. She opened the door in the passenger seat and hopped in. “What?” Calyx bit his lower lip. “I just miss you,” he said. At this moment, Cindy gritted her teeth. “That’s it?! You called me to come over… just because you freaking miss me?” Calyx nodded. Cindy scoffed. “You’re unbelievable. Geez.” Calyx let out a soft chuckle. “Just kidding, baby. You’re getting more beautiful when you’re blushing,” he said with a tint of a tease and genuinely. From NôvelDrama.Org.
“Get straight to the point, Cal. I have works to do.” Calyx heaved a sigh and shook his head. He doesn’t want to tell the truth—not this time… that he’s part of a mafia organization. “You know what, Cal. I know that we have no relation—we don’t have a commitment. But you’re really wasting my time, acting like you’re in love with me,” Cindy uttered. Calyx met Cindy’s gaze. Cindy’s words got a strong impact on Calyx’s heart. Calyx loves Cindy, and he just realized it in the past few weeks, but his ego is still covering him. He doesn’t want to confess. He admits he got cowardly… up to now. “You freaking waste my time, Cal!” “Cindy…” Cindy let out a sarcastic chuckle. “I don’t know what is wrong, but you fucking waste my time—” “You’ve said that about five times?” Cindy arched her brow. “Really? Even if I say it a hundred times, the hell I care and the hell you care!” Cindy opened the door and was about to get down when a strong force pulled her, and she swiftly landed on Calyx’s lap. Her eyes widened and were about to wiggle when Cal said, “Don’t even think about it. I won’t let you go,” Cal said, making Cindy frown. She took a deep breath and sighed in disbelief. “You’re unbelievable. Just fucking state your words. Don’t test my patience, Cal,” she warned. Calyx then let her go, making Cindy take the opportunity to sit back in the passenger seat. “We will attend a private dinner this evening—” “Dinner?” Cindy muttered. “Yes. You need to be there or else…” he paused when Cindy glared at him, “—you have to be there, Cindy. I am not bluffing. Your presence is needed on that dinner meeting,” he said. Cindy fell into bafflement. ‘Why does she need to attend a dinner meeting with Calyx?’ she thought.
“Why would you invite me?” she asked again, acting like stubborn—just to get some information. Calyx shrugged his shoulders. “They just told me to invite you because—” “Who?” Cindy asked as Cal mentioned something. Calyx scratched the back of his head and even wiped his palm into his face. “Just. I’ll pick you up later. Wear a dress, or do you want me to buy one for you,” he suggested, making Cindy frown. “Are you insane?” “Nope,” Cal replied and flashed a short smile, “I’m just helping a friend.” Cindy let out a sarcastic chuckle. “Yeah, right. Just text me up then,” she said and opened the door. She pushed it and got down. Calyx was about to open his mouth and was about to say something when Cindy swiftly closed the door of his Audi. Calyx then shook his head as he followed Cindy with his gaze.
