A Kiss
A Kiss
Zoe’s POV My mother was still teasing me while we entered the club entrance. The bouncer nodded at me, but I doubt that he knew me. The nod was for my mother, making me look at her. “Mom, stop smiling. You look stupid,” I said and rolled my eyes. I frowned and glared at her when she slapped my butt. “Mom…” I warned with a steady voice. She smiled at me and winked. Afterward, she dragged me towards the bar counter. “Two shots of sex on the beach!” she said, her voice booming and blending with the loud music being played. “I’ll have a beer, mom.” She arched her brow and glared at me. “Quit being stubborn, Zoe. Let go of the bad vibes, feel the rhythm of the music, relax and chill.” I took a deep breath and nodded. “Fine, you win this time.” I saw how a smile drew to my mother’s lips. “You mean, you’re accepting that you like Hel—” “Mom!” I yelled and then suddenly looked at the crowd. I pressed my lips when a couple looked in my direction, but, in the end, they still continued to dance and enjoy the music. I shook my head and met my mother’s gaze. “Mom, can I have a beer?” She shook her head, and sooner, the bartender put down two glasses in front of us. My mother winked at the young bartender and then turned to me. “Try this instead of beer. Beer is for a weakling.” Her words made my eyes widen, and I frowned. “Mom, that’s bad.” She winked at me and laughed. “Just kidding, baby. But the game is on me. So, we’ll drink whatever I wanted, get it?” she asked, making me roll my eyes. “You’re unbelievable.” “Bear with it, my dear—oh!” Mom abruptly changed her reaction as if she saw something… behind me.
My forehead creased in confusion, and I arched my brow. “What’s—” “Helios, dear!” mom exclaimed and hearing that name made my heart thump fast for no reason. No reason? Whom am I fooling with? I owe him something, and I badly need to talk to him. However, he hung up earlier. And that’s rude. I clenched my jaw and didn’t bother to look back. Instead, I grabbed the glass and drank into it. I winced when a familiar warm slit my throat when I took one gulp. “Damn,” I cussed out, and I met mom’s gaze when I lifted my face. I arched my brow and mouthed the word: what. Mom tilted her head to the left, gesturing that I needed to turn around and face Helios. But knowing what he did to me earlier. I think it’s not bad to hold a little grudge against it. I ignored her and continued drinking the SOTB, and when I emptied the glass, my vision got into a daze. What the hell? It’s just one glass, right? A small one. I shook my head, trying to ease it. However, it started to throb in my head, making me close my eyes. “Zoe? Are you okay?” I heard mom’s voice, but I didn’t bother to open my eyes and ignored her. Suddenly, I felt her hand land on my back. “Sweetie?” “Ugh,” I groaned, “what kind of mixture is that? Damn, it made me feel dizzy, mom,” I added. I don’t know, but this is my first time tasting it. I’ve heard about it but didn’t dare to look after it and have a taste. I heard my mother laugh and talk to Helios. “Helios, dear, I think my daughter badly needed to take a nap. Look how her body reacted to the mixtures, knowing that she had only one shot,” she said. From her voice, I sensed mockery and even her idea. Was mom trying to be cupid? I glared at her when suddenly, a force yanked me, making me lose my balance, but his arms caughtThis is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
me. If he didn’t yank me, I wouldn’t be in his arms. I glared at him and pushed myself away from him. “I thought you were busy? Besides, you even ended the call rudely, right?” I asked; sarcasm filled my voice, and I didn’t fucking care if he noticed it or not. Helios’s eyes pierced into mine, exerting a powerful aura. However, that has no use for me. “What?” I arched my brow, and I didn’t care if our conversation would draw attention. All I ever wanted was to teach him a lesson, but the idea that I owe him, big time, made me stop thinking about it. “Can you please take her to one of the VIP rooms, dear? I promise, I will follow after a few shots,” mother said, making me shoot a glare at her. Mom’s booming voice could be heard everywhere. Remind me on how to deal with my mother tomorrow, I thought to myself. “No need. I can walk on my own,” I replied. I saw how lines knitted dainty into Helios’s forehead, but I just rolled my eyes and started to walk away. I even bumped my shoulder into his forcefully so that he would know that I was mad at him. How could he hang up on the phone and show himself in front of us? How impolite. Indeed, he missed the character education part during his elementary days. I excused myself from the crowd and walked passed through them. I sighed in relief when I finally reached the staircase. I looked at the bar counter and saw mom waving at me despite that she was in a dim corner. I shook my head and frowned when I saw Helios beside me. “What the hell are you doing?” I asked when he suddenly grabbed my hand and pulled me upstairs. “What’s wrong with you?!” I yelled. Helios met my gazed and clenched his jaw. “Follow me, or else I will not talk to you forever and let conscience eat you—” “Stop talking nonsense. I approached you kindly earlier and even asked you if you have time for us to speak privately. However, you wasted it.
“If you don’t stop whining, I will kiss you, right here, right now,” he warned, making me burst into laughter, unbothered by other people’s gazes. I scoffed. “Kiss your ass—” my voice cut off by a warm feeling that touches my lips.
