Chapter 225

Last night, Jolene said she had been hired by a design firm. Is her new company also involved in the

bidding process? The idea shocked me. Although I had thought about how to deal with her, I didn’t

expect her to become my adversary at work.

When the elevator arrived, the receptionist led President Smith and me to a room on the seventeenth

floor. After two cups of tea had been placed on the table, the receptionist politely told us, “President

Smith, Ms. Hawkins, please wait here. When the meeting starts, I will let you know.”

After the receptionist left, President Smith sipped his tea. “This is a nice cup of Earl Grey. Lillian, try

it. Is very good.”

Smiling. I took the glass and was about to drink. However, as soon as I smelled it, I immediately

dropped it. which provoked a puzzled look from President Smith. “Why don’t you drink?”

“President Smith, this tea has a strange smell. It doesn’t smell like Earl Grey.”

“No way. I’ve been drinking tea for years. I can tell what tea it is just by smelling it,” countered President

Smith.

“But that’s really not Earl Gray in my cup. It stinks. It’s like…” I didn’t finish my words because the smell

of tea was indescribable with words.

“Like what?” Picking up my cup of tea, astonished, President Smith sniffed at it and immediately put it

down. “What kind of tea is this? It has a horrible smell. Is weird. Our teacups look different.”

“I don’t know. Maybe it’s a Walker Group rule that a boss and an employee should be given different

types of tea.” Despite what I said, I felt something was wrong.

Walker Group is such a big company so I don’t think they would treat their guests any

differently. Someone played a trick on me? But I don’t think I offended anyone at their company.

After waiting in the room for over ten minutes, the receptionist returned. “President Smith, Ms. Hawkins,

please follow me.”

Getting up from the sofa, we followed the receptionist and arrived in a meeting room, in which many

acquaintances were already seated.

Representatives from all of Riverdale’s famous design firms were in attendance. As I sat down, I looked

around but didn’t see Jolene and the man with her.

Did I make a wrong guess? Maybe Jolene isn’t here for the pageant.

While I was deep in thought, Eric and his special assistant entered. He was dressed in a black suit,

purple shirt and white tie. During our meetings in the past, he was usually dressed in casual clothes, so

this was the first time I saw him in a

suit.

It was said that handsome men with good figures looked better in a suit; Eric was no exception.

I wasn’t sure how I should describe Eric in a suit. Despite the fact that all the men in the conference

room were dressed in suits, the moment Eric walked in, they all paled in front of him.

There were also plenty of female stylists who stared at Eric uncontrollably and were reluctant to look

away.

It looked like Eric was used to being the center of attention as his expression remained calm. Upon

taking the main chair, his special advisor announced the beginning of the meeting.

Eric welcomed us briefly and got right down to the bidding. “About this bidding. I must emphasize that

you all come from the best design firms in Riverdale, so it’s an honor to have you in the bidding

process. I hope everyone will show me the best design and achieve a win-win partnership with us.” Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

Then his special assistant started talking about the details of the bidding while Eric leaned back in his

chair with an impassive expression.

In the middle of the meeting. Eric’s beautiful secretary hurried in and whispered in his ear, whereupon

he rose from his chair and left the room. He never returned until the end of the meeting.

At the end of the meeting, the bidders began to leave the room. When we get to the door,

President. Smith suddenly stopped in his tracks. Perplexed, I asked, “President Smith, what’s wrong?”
