Chapter 1189 Distorting the Truth
Chapter 1189 Distorting the Truth
Zach knew that Julien had lost his patience. Thus, he no longer bothered to play nice with Neil, and his face turned as cold as Julien's.
Towering up in front of Neil, he pushed the man in the shoulder.
Thinner and shorter than Zach, Neil couldn't resist him.
Neil stumbled backward and crashed into the wall. The way into the ward was then cleared.
Neil's collision with the wall was witnessed by the man on the bed. Shocked, Dallin called out, "What's going on?"
Neil had gone to open the door.
But after a long time, he didn't come back to report. Instead, he crashed into the wall. Dallin saw him wincing with an incredulous expression.
Coupled with the action of clutching his shoulder, Dallin understood that Neil had been pushed by someone.
He couldn't see and didn't know who it was.
But he was certain that the visitor meant harm.
Dallin was badly injured and couldn't move at all. Any movement would cause his wounds to ache and sweat to break out.
There was no way he could get out of bed and go to find out.
Clenching his fists, he vigilantly stared in the direction of the door and waited for the person to come in.
Presumably, Neil refused to let the person in, which led to the act of violence.
This incident alerted Dallin.
He speculated that the visitor should be on the same side as those who hit him.
He hadn't figured out who the attackers were. His assistant had been investigating. However, because Port City was not his turf and he hadn't brought many men, it would take him a couple of days to find out.
It could be a good thing if the visitor was from that group.
At least this way, he would know who hit him, and once he made it out alive, he would never let them go.
His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of leather shoes clicking on the floor.
Dallin gloomily raised his eyes and looked over.
Seeing the visitors, Dallin was stunned, and then he trembled with agitation. "It's you."
He never expected that the visitors would be Julien and his assistant, not the people who hit him.
His mind raced. 'Wait a minute. Why couldn't they be the ones who hit me?'
He had hardly ever left the hotel, and even when he did go out a few times, it was to take care of his private affairs, not interacting with anyone.
Julien was his only enemy in this city, so it could be Julien's doing.
With that in mind, Dallin looked at Julien with growing hostility.
"Did you do this?" Dallin asked, pointing at Julien with his uninjured hand.
Julien stopped in front of the bed and narrowed his eyes. "What are you referring to?"
"Don't play dumb with me." Dallin put down his hand and yelled fiercely, "Did you do this to me?"
He discarded the elegance he had maintained till his old age. The usual gentleness had disappeared from his face.
He was nothing but a pretender.
If he were really a gentleman, he would have become gentler, calmer, and more refined with time. But now, he dropped his mask at the slightest provocation and revealed his true colors.
'Who knows if this old poor feels tired after pretending for decades?'
Standing behind Julien, Zach thought to himself and sneered.
Instead of answering Dallin's question, Julien gestured backward.
Taking the hint, Zach looked around, found a spare chair, and went over to get it. Content provided by NôvelDrama.Org.
Neil's eyes flickered with malice as he saw through Zach's intentions. He attempted to sit down in the chair, preventing Zach from taking it.
Neil's malice was undisguised, and Zach immediately noticed it. With a sneer, he leisurely stretched out his leg.
With his eyes on the chair, Neil didn't notice Zach's movement or the foot in his way.
Consequently, he tripped over Zach's foot and fell to the ground. His head was hit, and he grunted in pain.
"What happened?" Dallin ignored Julien and looked over.
Covering his head, Neil was writhing on the floor. His miserable state irritated Dallin.
'So disgraceful!'
Such a lack of decorum would cause him to lose face in front of Julien.
Dallin watched with indifference and disdain.
He hadn't seen how Neil fell, but he knew any scene made by Neil would cause Julien to laugh at him.
Annoyed, Dallin looked at Neil with colder eyes.
Julien didn't miss Dallin's reactions. He looked at Neil, who was oblivious to Dallin's displeasure and still writhing on the floor. A cold glint flashed across his eyes.
"Oh, Neil, are you okay? You are so careless. Look at your swollen head. It must be a heavy fall. Come on, friend, I'll help you up." Zach grinned at Neil and extended his hand.
Zach's attempt of distorting the truth pissed off Neil.
It was not that he was careless, but he was tripped by Zach.
This guy was shameless.
He knocked off Zach's hand and barked, "Get lost! Who needs your help? It was you..."
"Enough!" Dallin couldn't stand it any longer. His assistant was so stupid. He sullenly looked at Nei and ordered sternly, "Leave now."
He was afraid that Neil would make more mistakes and further embarrass him.
